Evie looked at him for a moment before answering. “To the first question, I hated how we left things and when I went back to the apartment, it felt empty without you in it.” She confessed without mentioning anything about what she had been through. There was much more to say on why she found herself back to Cam. “As for the second, social media really isn’t that difficult to understand. You didn’t post anything but some guy you met here tagged you in something and there may have been a bit of a deep dive on his profile and then someone elses for an exact location on the bar while also coming here for the past two nights and… and I’m beginning to sound a little psychotic now so I’m going to stop there.”

Cameron listened to what Evie had to say, smiling slightly at all the work she had to find him. He couldn’t help but be a little confused. Cam thought Evie had left him again. So why would she “I also hate how we left things.” He sighed. “Which is why I left Mystic Falls. I went home one night and you weren’t there. Your things were gone, there was no sign of you anywhere, At first I thought it had been Klaus, so I went to New Orleans to ask him. You weren’t there either. There was no hiding from Klaus anymore and he figure out there was something between us.” Cam sighed. “For some reason he didn’t kill me, but he did one thing he thought would mess things up for me. He gave me back my memories of Laura.” Cam looked down at the table as he spoke. "I guess his plan was to make me realize I love you less, I guess? Make me give up on you." He scoffed. "It actually made me relize I love you more, Evie. And you leaving? It hurts like hell."

Evie slid in to sit opposite him. “Clearly you’ve not met him or you’d know he’s just the best person I’ve met in my whole eternity.” She smiled to him, pouring them both a drink. “Trust me, I am glad to see the back of that place right now.”

Cameron only smiled at her for a while, before sighing deeply. “Not that I’m not happy to see you, because I am. I really am.” Cameron still missed Evie, still loved her and she still took his breath away. “But...Why are you here? And how exactly did you find me?” He would bet Spencer would’ve said something to Evie about Cam’s whereabouts.

Evie had been free from her cage for a few weeks. She probably would have done this sooner if she wasn’t dealing with her demons. She tracked Cam down without much hassle. A quick scroll on Facebook and it wasn’t hard to find him travelling. She followed the breadcrumbs which led her to a bar in Mexico. She paid for the bottle of wine and grabbed two glasses before heading to the table that Cam was at. “You know, you look just like someone I know.” She smiled. “Mind if I sit? I’ll tell you all about this guy and how amazing he is?”

After all the hell Cameron had been through, he decided he needed a really long vacation. Klaus had been too busy with his daughter and his plans with the vampires in New Orleans. Cam was finally free. At least for a while. He had been in Mexico for the past week and the only people he remained in contact with was his mother and his sister. It was a surprise to see Evie in front of his table. “He can’t say be that amazing.” He said with a small smile. Last time he heard from Evie she had left him. “You’re a little too far from Mystic Falls, aren’t you?”

Cam recognized the girl from college campus, but he couldn’t remember if they ever spoke before. “Maybe you’re smarter than me.”

“Aye, Cam. Why you looking some glum, mate? It’s just college. I didn’t go to college and I turned out just fine.” Well, that was debatable but Chester said that with a huge amount of confidence. “And look at it this way, could be worse. You could be on Roscoe 3.0″ 

“It just feels like I’ve been studying for centuries, not years. And I still have a long way to go to become a vet.” Cam replied with a shrug. “It could be worse, it’s true. I’m happy with Roscoe 2.0.”

“I hope you’re right.” Cam sighed. “I’m studying biology. I want to be a vet some day.”

Cameron chuckled, shaking his head. “Definitely not the worst I’ve ever seen.” He replied. “I’ve been way worse.”

“If I could finish high school, despite all the odds, you can finish college”, Elena said. Her high school years were the most troubled in her life. She learned that vampires existed, that she was a doppelganger, and an ancient vampire was looking after her. And she survived and graduated high school with her best friends.

“High school was that bad, huh?” Cam asked, although he knew stories about Elena’s high school period. He was also surprised he managed to graduate, considering the fact that he killed someone and turned into a werewolf.

“That bad, huh?” Lucy turned to look at him, offering a smile. “Not the end of the world, man. Plenty of people do great things without college on their resume.” She offered, trying to lift his spirits a little. “What’s the dream?” 

“Kinda, yeah.” Cam chuckled to himself. “Yeah, I know. You’re right.” Cam nodded. It wasn’t as if he was too worried about college, though. He just really wanted to finish it already. “The dream is to become a veterinarian. If I ever managed to graduate.”

Currently on his break at the bar, he couldn’t help but overhear the other and being as close as he was? Gave him that opportunity to speak up. “Guess shits getting in the way?”

“A lot of shit gets in the way.” Cam answered the man, staring at his glass as he did so. “Life isn’t easy.”

“How come?” she figured she might as well make an attempt to talk to him, purely because he was Leo’s friend and apparently talking to himself? “Can’t be that bad?”

Cam looked at Maddie, recognizing his friend’s grilfriend. “It is, actually.” He replied. “Every time I think I’ll finally be able to focus on my classes, something bad happens.”

“Um, duh. Worry is my middle name. …It’s Aylen, actually. But you knew that already, I’m not sure why I told you.” Spencer makes a face, before chuckling. She really is way too good at babbling. “Speaking of worrying, did you check in with Whitmore? I know babysitting me kind of screwed up classes.” She frowns, reaching out to squeeze her brother’s shoulder.

“Oh, I know all of that. But I guess worrying runs in the family. I worry too much too, you know that.” Cam shrugged. “I did.” Cameron sighed heavily. “I failed pretty much all of my classes and for the first time since I got into college I compelled a couple of my teachers. If I keep failing like that, I’ll never graduate.”

“Wow aren’t you depressing,” Bellamy told him while she took up a seat beside the familiar friend. “Would you rather be stuck in college or be possessed or whatever other nonsense we’ve been through? Come on now, Cam.”

Cam scoffed, rolling his eyes. “I’m trying to worry about normal things for once. Nothing involving Klaus, or demons, or witch possessing people.” He replied. “You should do that some time.”

“No shit?” Riley laughed, turning his head to look at his company. “Maybe it’s your sister I should be ranting too, then.” He joked, nodding to the bar in a gesture of buying him a drink. “Don’t get me wrong, I love her to bits, but jesus christ on a fuckin’ bike.” He sighed, expressing his worry across his face, though the soft smile remained. “Think that’s just how the sibling dynamic works though, eh? Whole lot a love and a whole lot’a stress.” 

“Maybe. Maybe not.” Cam chuckled. “To be honest we’re both a mess, man.” Between Cam and Spencer he didn’t know who had the worst luck and got themselves into more trouble. “That’s definitely how it works. I worry about my sister all the time. There’s nothing we can do.”

Given her isolated status, she had no idea that Klaus and Kol had both left town and even if she was told it, she wasn’t too sure she’d believe it. They’d always come back. “I’m thinking of finding a way to get my grace back. Maybe it’ll stop me being a cure. Maybe I’ll be free of all this.” It meant the angels would be able to find her again and she’d probably be in more trouble than she was currently and she was certain Cam knew that when she half-heartedly said it but she felt more and more like a burden to Cam as the days and weeks went on. She was his girlfriend and all she felt like was his problem.

Cam frowned when the words left Evie’s lips. He had mentioned her becoming an angel to get free of Klaus, but he had been desperate. The hybrid knew finding her gace and being an angel again would bring new problems. Maybe worse problems. “But... Didn’t you say the angels would go after you if you found your grace?” He asked, confused.
