Grayson smiled a little before shaking his head. “I don’t think any of us think that way about you. Or at least I don’t and I couldn’t imagine Brooke thinking that about you either. I can understand that things are gonna stressful, but just take a breath and take it one day at a time. I promise you don’t have anything to worry about when it comes to Mom and Dad.” 

“Okay, I can remember that. Just to chill out and that I have nothing to worry about. I was almost feeling like they’d think I was an asian  Julia Roberts and he was a young, better looking version of Richard Gere or something. My imagination ran wild and I was suddenly a part of Pretty Woman, RIAP Edition.”

Brooke felt guilty for a moment. “I want to. I really want to.” She furrowed her brow before she repeated it to herself softly. “I want to.” Brooke hadn’t really wanted things for a really long time. This was unfamiliar. She just had everything, she was literally born with a silver spoon in her mouth. “Forget everything I just said. I’m doing this. Fuck it.” She hugged Cameron suddenly, gripping her tightly. “Thank you. Seriously.”

“Then do what you want to do,” she encouraged. “Yes!” Cameron said with excitement in her tone. “The world will not fall to destruction because Brooke Palmer is in my wedding. Honestly, you’ve been my sounding board through all of this, and instrumental in me finally telling Linc how I feel. Of course, I want you with me.”

“Okay.” Lincoln said as he took Cam’s phone and stood next to her so she’d see and he wrote the text to the wedding planner letting her know what they wanted for dates, that it’d be indoors, so she could start looking at venues and an estimate on how many people. “I was going to say you know I wouldn’t mind if you walked down the aisle in your underwear but considering how many people we’re inviting I’d rather you didn’t… I mean I like to think that the only people that sees you in your underwear is me… And the girls in the locker room… And the people nearby when you realize your shirt is inside out in the middle of the quad or the people at the beach or the pool because bikinis and underwear are pretty much the same… But you know, really, I’m the only one that counts.” He rambled playfully. Lincoln chuckled at her joked and walked up to her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pressing her back to his front. “I never said you had to pay me money, I said I didn’t accept cards, not that I didn’t accept anything else.” He said and kissed her neck before resting his chin on her shoulder. “It’s your wedding, you’re allowed to dislike her ideas and she’s not allowed to really dislike yours, cause it’s our wedding and we can have and do whatever we want with it, I mean it might be for their sake… since we’re already married but we didn’t get the whole… production of it so it is ours, so we can have fire dancers and I don’t know, mariachis or whatever we want.”

Cameron laughed. “You know, I’m sure I can inspiration for that on the internet, underwear with a veil. But after the wedding and the reception, I can do another walk just for you in my underwear.” She winked. “You’re never going to let me live down that one time I stripped off my shirt on the quad. Babe, you’re the only person that truly matters, and the only person that knows what I look like without any of those things on.” His playfulness made her smile. It was infectious and she always loved joking with him. She leaned back against him then, feeling every muscle in her relax. “Oh, well, when you put it that way, I can most definitely pay you very well for your wedding planning services,” she agreed. After she set the pot on the stove to boil, she turned in his arms. “You know that mothers like doing that kind of thing, having a vision. Mine has a wedding vision board. I just I don’t know want it to be perfect, for everyone. Can I do a dance routine at the reception just for you? I promise it’d be tasteful.”

“Yes and no,” he corrected, “taking in the room as a whole and in pieces are both important. Any exit or entry could be unusable at any time–and depending on the room they could also be created. There’s many factors and it’s constantly shifting. Gets overwhelming. Your priorities are the most important thing. If you stay or go, if you fight or flee, if you take someone with you–all of that has to be considered,” he was in no position to be lecturing anyone on how they used their downtime. But that didn’t stop him from offering an even rarer bit of advice. “don’t just think on what you did wrong. You survived, you got out of there alive, you did something right. That will be more useful in the than what you did wrong.” 

Cameron was practically hanging onto his every word as he gave her more insight on the possibilities that surrounded her in certain situations. “I think I’ve never been a fleer, but in some circumstances evacuating people is the best option. Safety of everyone on campus is priority one. I always try to remember that, no matter if fight is kicking in, flight sometimes may be best and once people are safe I can come back to fight.” Cameron nodded at his words, giving him a bit of a smile. “Your advice means a lot to me, so thank you for it. I believe I have so much to learn and I can learn from you.”

“Because no-one sleeps in a suit! I didn’t think it was something that needed to be denied. You’d probably strangle yourself with the tie–you know what? The answer’s no. Let’s just go with that. Laugh all you want, sleeping aside these are comfortable. It’s not my fault no-one on this campus has heard of having a tailor.”

Cameron could not contain her laughter at his assessment of people that would sleep in a suit. “That’s a relief. I was beginning to believe we were on another level here in which you were far too comfortable in just suits. Tell me this though, do you own t-shirts? And have you ever worn one?” she wondered. “I’ve heard of a tailor, just refuse to pay one. The only thing that I’m ever getting that has to be explicitly altered for me is my wedding dress.” Cameron had the outlook of not paying extra money for useless things, so tailoring was something she didn’t see a use for.

“Will he though? I feel like as long as you rotate it, you might be able to get away with it for a pretty long time.” Emily shrugged. She wondered if she would have to eat less pizza if she married someone. Hopefully not. “Tired, honestly. I’m working a lot, seeing as the Dueling team hasn’t pulled a win yet. It’s been a really tough season, but I know they’re all really trying. What about you? 

“He hasn’t said anything yet, but I’m still trying to be inventive. Add in some healthy stuff too so he doesn’t lose his abs as I cook very unhealthy meals sometimes. Or you know, just want to order a pizza most of the time.” But even she knew she had to eventually watch the pizza intake. “You guys just have a rough start. You haven’t been able to practice like the other teams, but I’m sure you’ll find your stride soon,” she offered. “By comparison to how busy the summer was, I feel like I’m hardly working. Nothing’s going on which I’m appreciative of, so it’s back to disturbances in the dorms, thefts, harassment, things like that.”

Brooke started to smile, but there was worry in her eyes. “Cause she calls me a tornado. I’m not a great person when it comes to celebrating something, I tend to go too hard and make mistakes.” She put her hand through her hair. “Can I think about it? I want to say yes, I really, really do. Like you can be as demanding as you want and I’ll totally do my best but I’m trying a thing where I don’t rush into stuff. I don’t want to completely fuck up your day.”

“I’m the hail storm in my family so I definitely understand. I’m mistake central so why would I not want you there with me? But honestly, if it’s something you’re not comfortable doing or it will cause a rift in your family then we can just pretend I never asked if that makes it better. The only people I want to be upset on my wedding day are the women that thirst after my husband because yeah that’s right I loved him so much I married him twice,” she said with a smile. “Really, it’s no big deal. I want you there but if you don’t want to that’s okay.” Cameron didn’t want to make this hard on Brooke even of being up there would mean a lot to her.

“Okay… So how about the first two weeks of December at the latest and let the wedding planner decide on the date based on the availability of the place? I’m guessing cause it’d be colder… Or do you want an outdoor wedding? Jeez planning a wedding is a lot of work… I can see why most people let the bride do everything.” He joked smirking at her. “It’s a good think you’re paying me. I mean… They do say third time’s the charm.” He joked as he finished chopping and sighed. “My mom keeps blowing my phone with her… suggestions for the wedding… I think she spends hours on the wedding tag on pinterest or something.”

“That sounds absolutely perfect to me. Indoor wedding is fine with me. There are a lot of tiny decisions and I know you know I woke up from a wedding planning nightmare where I forgot to pick out my dress so I literally was walking down the aisle in my underwear.”  Cameron gently punched him in the shoulder. “You know I should get you this card read I saw at the store to plug into your phone so you can accept cards. This whole, my husband never having cash thing is getting costly for me,” she said, playing along. “If we do this a third time, it has to be when we’re really old or like fifty and renewing our vows. This is a lot of work. I would tell you to send her my way, but I’m afraid. I do have a pinterest devoted to the wedding. I’d share ideas but what if I don’t like her ideas? Or she doesn’t like mine?”

Grayson nodded his head, smiling a bit. “Cameron, you really don’t have anything to worry about. Mom and Dad probably already love you and you seem to have my siblings love, so I don’t see how anything could go wrong there.” 

“I mean, I do worry because I don’t want you guys to think I’m a gold digger or anything. I mean I wouldn’t even let Linc buy me a dress for that first wedding…that your parents can never find out about. Listen, it’s a lot of pressure trying to impress people. I’ve never really met anyone’s parent’s when I was dating them or you know met my husband’s parents. I’ve even been stress eating over this.”

“Oh, I know. I’ll make you an emergency bag, better than the ones that I make for my clients.” Brooke almost dropped her brush. She had teased Lincoln about this but she didn’t actually think it’d be a thing. She was sure that Cam had enough friends to have a full docket of bridesmaids, which made it even more flattering that Cam was asking. “I… Seriously?” She asked, still blinking away her shock. “You know that my mother would recommend against this, right?”

“I feel special as fuck because from what I hear those are amazing.” Cameron knew that Brooke and her makeup game was the best by far that she’d seen. She would trust no one else to do her makeup. She grinned at her reaction. “Seriously, I want you to be one of my bridesmaids. Why? You’re a perfect choice and it’s my wedding, and I want it. I get to be a demanding bride, right?”

“Damn Cam, no need to run me over.” He joked, laughing a little. “Yeah, just doing my rounds right now. But there really isn’t anything going on, so it’s kind of boring. Although, I suppose that’s a good thing in our case.” 

“I’m sorry, really. I didn’t mean to nearly run you over. I get excited about the prospect of swimming. But I can hang for a little if you want some company? “ She asked, wanting to spend some time with him. ““Besides, I don’t want you to be bored out of your mind on shift.”

“A bridesmaid! Of course I’d love to be a bridesmaid, are you kidding me?” Brynn smiled widely, wrapping Cameron up into a hug before pulling back, a slight blush creeping up her neck. “Oh me? Nothing, it’s nothing. I’m just… Having a good week, is all.”

Cameron practically squeaked at that response to her question.  She hugged Brynn tightly before letting go. ““I’m so glad I get to share this with you honestly. I love my first marriage to Lincoln, but getting to redo with friends and family there is a dream come true.” She eyed Brynn curiously. ““Okay...so you’re just really having a good week. So what’s making it so good?”

Grayson nodded his head as the other person spoke, showing that he was indeed listening. “Alright,” He started. “Now that you have all of that figured out, what are you going to do about it?”

“Talk to the wedding planner, I guess. I really want it to look classy, and I kind of really want you and your family to at least like me,” she said hopefully. She knew Brooke liked her, and she adored and loved her. She didn’t know about the rest of the Palmers though.

Brynn had been busy typing away on her phone, pretending that it definitely wasn’t Rick she was talking to as soon as Cam came rolling up to her. Before she could fully hide her phone, Cam was bumping into her and Brynn dropped her phone too quickly. A squeak later, she placed her hand on her head and chuckled at herself. “Sorry, I’m just–” She stopped, finally registering what Cam had just asked. “I’m sorry, you said what now?”

Cameron’s brow rose as Brynn seemed to be in a completely different world. “I was asking if you wanted to be a bridesmaid in my wedding but seems like you were definitely not in this room right now what’s going on with you?” she asked, knowing it couldn’t have been something horrible since Brynn was actually smiling and in good spirits.

Cameron had invited Brooke over under the guise of a crash course in makeup though she already did okay for herself in that department. She really wanted to as her about being one of her bridesmaids. As she stood there trying to learn how to contour she said, “So you know you’re going to be on makeup duty for me at the wedding right? Because this is all sort of…well more than my expertise. But would that be too much of a burden if I also maybe wanted to see if you would be one of my bridesmaids?”

“I’m going to pretend you didn’t actually ask me whether or not I sleep in suit pajamas,” he said, catching the goal before throwing it back to her, “do you sleep in a bullet proof vest?”

“But you haven’t actually denied it,” she pointed out. “No, I actually sleep in normal things. But you actually see me in non uniform attire, I haven’t seen you in non suit attire since college. Sometimes I wonder if you were in suits then too and I’m thinking of someone else.”

Ethan had been making his rounds and turned a corner just as someone else did, noticing that they seemed to be in a bigger hurry than he was. “Whoa there, slow down before you cause a collision.” He commented. “What’s the hurry? Something on fire?”

Camereon had been on a run and she planned to take a dip in the pool after that run. she was looking forward to the pool portion. It was like a perfect end to the day. she nearly collided with Ethan, and turned. “Oh, sorry, E.  I had my mind on the pool actually, are you patrolling?”
