One of the most important things I learned in senior year (high school) is that people don’t care if you fuck up. And there are reasons for this. Reason one: you probably have grown up with these people and if they can forgive you for your childhood stupidity and your middle school emo phase, they’ll forgive you for stupid errors. Reason two: it doesn’t matter. The only people who you really see after high school are the ones who matter to you. The ones who make an impression on you. And so if you fuck up, the ones who care will let it go and if the rest don’t, who cares, you’ll stop having to see them within the next few months. Reason three: this is the most important thing, everyone fucks up. Living with debilitating anxiety has always made me feel alienated and like I was the only one who said the wrong thing or was awkward. BUT EVERYONE IS LIKE THAT SO OWN IT AND CARRY ON IT WILL BE OKAY.
