I've seen multiple people question why Armand is trying to make Louis apologize and it's genuinely making me lose my mind?

Louis swept into his home city, demanded special treatment and to be exempt from coven rules even though Armand already knew he was a vampire killer and was cutting him slack, then put the coven in direct danger of exposure while absolutely refusing any chance to get the fuck out or join the coven that Armand was offering him, while offering him literally 0 verbal affection, very little physical affection, and not even CONFIRMING that they were in a relationship, WHILE evoking his half-remembered real name that he associates with his years as a child slave in a brothel INTO A BDSM DYNAMIC, THEN when Armand was like "Ok, my coven is gonna mutiny if I don't kill you so I'll have to kill you" he proceeded to burn his life's work down and kill 12/13 people Armand had spend the past 200 years with, THEN he explicitly dragged Armand along in a loveless relationship for 77 years JUST TO SPITE LESTAT, WHILE cheating on him more than 200+ times over and over and over

Did you watch the goddamn show? Louis was fucking awful to Armand.

Lestat desperately tried to understand/justify Gabriella's behavior his entire life, and the entire season, to us, the audience - the interim owners of the Failures tapes. It's different because we are vampires. It's her way of loving me. She was born in the wrong century, dealt a shitty hand in life. She did it because she wanted me to escape Auvergne. Why did you take me to see the witches burn? Even then, at the brink of death by decapitation, Lestat's brain conjures a Gabriella who explains: look at the peasants (cabbages!) we live with, look at what they do, you have to escape my son. And try to escape he did by the way! Twice! Only to be brought back against his will.

The witches place is one more instance in the season when we are told something but we have to look around in the scene for clues to understand what is really happening (similar to Magnus music video). Lestat has all the information (no memory problems with this vampire) but he's presenting us with a version that is more palatable for him. Lestat wants it to have been about tough love. It is not. The setting of the scene is this: four girls at the stake. The first two are SA victims who spoke out. The third one is a friend of Lestat, who used to come and play at their house. The fourth? A twin, a doppelgänger, if you will. Big doppelgänger imagery all season which I have yet to unpack.

The message Gabriella sends could not be clearer: I will isolate you (no more friends) and if you speak about what is happening between us, you will end up like these girls. It even bleeds through in Lestat's recollection of Armand's butcher shop fun adventure: bad things happen to girlies who talk. Gabriella is an abuser, she has been presented with no redeeming qualities the entire season because what she did to her son is horrific, unforgivable, irredeemable.

The road leading Lestat to the realization that his mother was a monster way before she became a vampire will stay with me for a long time.
