Tfw you get excited about Mark Hamill being surprised by RJ’s interpretation of Luke Skywalker and the whole “the Jedi must end” line because you think it means they’re actually acknowledging that Luke has realized the many faults of the Jedi and knows about the importance of recognizing the light and dark within everyone but instead it actually means that Luke is super chill about even contemplating killing his nephew cuz he’s that dedicated to a “light only” narrative and NOT the most family/love focused person ever
Tfw Rian Johnson/LF/KK literally, actually, legitimately made the whole reason for Rey’s character to exist and be ridiculously powerful (for anyone not a descendant of the Skywalker line) was as an “answer” to the darkness inside of Ben/Kylo, even though he was just a child at the time of her birth and homie you cant judge a kid that quickly, instead of as her own character with her own direction that doesn’t involve being tied explicitly to Kylo Ren’s development
Tfw Rian Johnson/LF/KK decide to bring back Yoda’s ghost instead of Anakins because for some reason that is the choice with more emotionally resonant weight
Tfw Rian Johnson/LF/KK try to make Leia the heartless one-off of her family who’s just completely chill with Luke taking out her son cuz “he was lost a long time ago” when we all know that there is almost no limit to how far a Skywalker can fall but still be saved
Tfw you get really excited about all the “nuance” and “ambiguity” the press interviews said there would be in this movie, thinking its about the intricacies of the nature of morality and ones moral compass in a universe with socially accepted ideas of “light” and “dark”, and that they might delve into complexities within everyone, but instead that means blatantly ignoring decades worth of established personality traits (and new ones from the TFA babies) and otherwise golden possibilities to focus on the yin and yang aspect of two single characters who have no conceivable reason for their deep connection given that they are no longer related and wasn’t organically created to begin with
Tfw Rian Johnson/LF/KK literally hired legends Andy Freakin’ Serkis, Laura Dern, and Benicio Del Toro only for them to get piss-poor screentime and/or otherwise get killed off
Tfw Rian Johnson/LF/KK ignore all the effort and the complex clues from JJ and the extended universe material about Rey’s parentage to ultimately go with “oh shes a nobody” because they didnt want to actually put in the work and thought that this decision would somehow be satisfying and rational

Tfw you know almost everyone is going to walk out of the theater thinking this was actually a good and worthy continuation of the Skywalker Saga even though the heart of what that means has been ripped out and pissed on
Tfw its all okay because none of it actually makes sense and it doesnt have to be you canon because, hey, even Lucasfilm itself admitted that nothing is canon and they can change whatever they want, previously established form the OT or not, whenever they want just because they feel like it
Tfw you still cant get over that they think Luke Skywalker would actually think about killing his nephew, who wasnt and still isnt anywhere near his Grandpa on the Naughty Scale, when his entire arc is about forgiveness, family, and about being so dedicated to the completion of that family that he would risk anything
