used to think it terribly silly (and kinda funny) when fantasy or sci-fi stories would have people refer to major recent historical events as The Flood or The Incident or The Revolution, and im sure historians fucking hate that because it's not helpful or descriptive, but we sure do be calling it The Pandemic
Also the new linguistic quirk of just saying “it was 2020” as like. The full end of a story. You say “it was 2020” and everyone knows what you mean.
“I was going to get my masters degree but then it was 2020, so yeah”
“I was cast in a play and then it was 2020”
“my boyfriend proposed but then it was 2020”
(Was about to put this in the tags but then it was too good for tags)
"My baby was born in 2020, and then (two weeks later to be precise), it was 2020."
Actual truth from my actual life, I feel like I ought to use this more.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
KICK THE CAN!
Let’s play the biggest game of kick the can on the internet.
To kick the can, reblog it. I wanna see how long this can go on for.
the oldest reblogs for this post that i can find are from january 2nd of 2013. this can has been getting kicked around tumblr for almost 13½ years now
And yet somehow this is my first time kicking it!
we have to write poems in my creative writing certificate program, so I pieced something together from Belphie's medical reports
my professor really liked this and said that it should be 'the nucleus of a chapbook' (so like 15-30 poems of the same theme that I would attempt to get published) but now I feel awkward because I think that she thinks HE DIED? but it turns out, everything will be alright! his heart recovered! the FIP meds are working!
if I do make a chapbook, this will be the next page:
and then this will be the page after that:
I couldn't believe how fast he went from death's door to running and playing once we got the GS441525 into him. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who's spent their time researching and legislating it!!
Belphie is over two years old now, and sometimes when I look at him, I still think he lived.
saw this on twitter and wanted to save it here

swifties always going on the "you just hate women" defense like first of all Taylor Swift is not a woman she's an unskippable ad
actually yes this needs to be kept as part of this conversation

Had to do a double take when I first saw this; I thought the peel was a creature. May I gift you: pineapple dragon?
what a specimen!
There aren't words for how insidiously disgusting and blatant this is. (Link)
I can’t say I’m comfortable with the idea that women need to cover up completely to avoid tempting men and I doubt everyone who wears a niqab or burqa does so by choice. Nonetheless I don’t think I can support such an attack on freedom of expression.
yeah, these types of bans only go after religions that aren't Christianity. And it starts with a burqa, then hijab, then any Muslim headcovering... basically its a pipeline we should not be going down,, and forcing someone to do something against their will is already in most cases a crime (or misdemeanour)
Also if you ban them in public places, you are saying that women who observe those traditions aren't allowed in public. Thus curtailing the very civil rights you claim you're trying to protect.
Also, let's say for a minute that your scare scenario is true. That woman in that niqab is horribly abused and her husband will damn near kill her (perhaps no "near" about it) if she goes out unveiled.
Cool!
So now she just like...can't actually seek help!! Because she can't leave the house unveiled, and can't wear her veil in public!
Great job, feminists!
Uh, don't think this was feminists' doing...
You wanna try again? Or are you able to understand that complete fucking dumbasses ruin movements by refusing to look at nuance and intersectionality?
Conservatives in the US push bathroom bills and anti-abortion measures under the guise of "protecting women". Does that make them feminists?
It means they're abusing feminism for a bigoted purpose. It also shows that doing so works because a lot of self-proclaimed feminists will follow them merrily into hell.
"a lot of self-proclaimed feminists" huh? Like, how many? You said "Great job, feminists!" like it was all, or even primarily feminists fault that this is happening, and you have zero evidence of that. Why are you blaming them, and not, ya know, the fucking racists?
If you think this is the fault of feminism, what is your solution? No feminism? You think the lives of those Muslim women will be much better without.... Equal rights?
I'm terribly sorry I didn't write a six-page essay on my history with feminist movements both good and bad, including citations and adequate "here are all the people exempt, which conveniently includes you so you don't have to think about your own axes of privilege" statements.
Fuck off.
No need for a six page essay, just answer this very very basic question
If you think this is the fault of feminism, what is your solution? No feminism? You think the lives of those Muslim women will be much better without.... Equal rights?
I think you're asking this in bad faith, is what I think.
So, again: fuck off.
BEHOLD the Tumblr classic. When someone asks you the most basic follow up question, and you can't answer because your argument is philosophically bankrupt, just cry "bad faith!"
Go ask a TERF if they're a feminist, dipshit. See what answer you get.
You don't get to No True Scotsman your way out of this just because you showed up claws-out TO SOMEONE WHO ROUTINELY YELLS ABOUT INTERSECTIONAL FEMINISM and tried to pick a fight.
If you have even a quarter of a single damaged brain cell that you actually use, you are aware that co-opting feminism for nefarious purposes is a major problem right now. And if you're actually interested in helping, rather than being chronically online and textbook hobbyless, you wouldn't be attacking people for look-I'm-so-brave points as a keyboard warrior.
Muslim women deserve better. The fact that "women's rights" was successfully used to ram this through SHOWS A FAILING IN PORTUGUESE FEMINISM because people fucking fell for it.
Now for the last time, FUCK. OFF. Or do we have to go back to kindergarten and remind you that no means no?
tumblr keeps giving me these ads with straight up porn in them (like, nude dickriding) and while idgaf about seeing porn I really am like, exhausted by the double edged swords of "terms of service" and "advertising".
I can't post images that show too much of my stomach, because notable body fat trips whatever alarms are up in tumblr HQ. but advertisers can show me skinny white girls bouncing on it all day long bc like, they're advertisers.
we live in advertising world. companies have more rights to "expression" in public than individuals. once you notice it you won't stop seeing it. you have a moral duty to resist it.
getting tired of these kinds of responses. "you're only seeing porn because you look at porn and the ads are connected to your data huehuehuehue" like it's some kind of gotcha.
I am a sex worker - a porn creator. Yes, I spend a lot of time on porn sites! sometimes for work, sometimes for pleasure. I'm not embarrassed to admit it. Do you think I should be? I'm on testosterone, sometimes I jerk off four times a day. Get over it.
When I said "idgaf about seeing porn" I meant it! What I DO care about is the fact that I as a user and a worker cannot post my creative labour on this website, but that advertisers can show me whatever they want, including AI generated Attractive People doing my job. The implication that they're doing this with the use of tracking cookies makes it worse, actually. I don't like living under surveillance. Do you think it's funny? Or do you think that was part of the problem I was trying to talk about from the start?

Angry Gamers (capitol G) will look at a new trailer, invent a way cooler and more epic version of it, and then think that cooler and more epic version is Bad, somehow
New female GTA protagonist is being described as "looking like a tranny and fat"
As in
This character:
She literally is not. Would be way cooler if she was though
Ciri is "too masculine" in the new Witcher trailer.
Ciri.
In this trailer:
This is literally just a cis woman. Would be based as fuck if they fucked with that a bit.
Man imagine a GTA where you play as a trans woman sex worker forced into increasingly dangerous situations, surviving and slowly thriving through crimes and heists of escalating stakes, slowly overcoming and eventually overthrowing those who wronged you in both the justice system and the criminal underworld
Maybe game studios should have one of these Gamers on their team to torture. The angrier this Gamer gets the further the rest of the team pushes. If this Gamer is violent with rage by the end of a brainstorming session it's considered successful.
They could keep him in a little terrarium
Not letting you hide this in the tags
"Atom-bombed Mary", also known as Our Lady of Nagasaki.
It is a part of a wooden statue of Mother Mary that survived the atomic bombing of Nagasaki in 1945. It was found in the ruins of Urakami Cathedral.
There's this one specific interaction on reddit that I wouldn't call "infamous" but I also know that everyone who knows it knows it by the punchline, so in order to not ruin it for the ones who haven't, I'm just going to talk all of you through it as I'm saying this.
The beauty of it is that you could place that exact same dialogue into any time and place in human history and it would make just as much sense, you could have it as a conversation between sailors in a 1600s ship, a group of bronze-age warriors cleaning their weapons, stone age hunters walking home from a hunt, or a bunch of 21st century redditors on the internet, and it would hit just as splendidly.
There was this conversation about if you could have sex with any specific person from any time through human history, which one would you choose? Famous legendary lovers were brought up, queens, emperors and such were popular, might as well fuck Rasputin just to see what the hype was all about, the kind of answers one would expect.
Then some guy said he would choose his own late wife. He went on to talk about how brutal it is, that you might find the love of your life, but there's no promise that this life couldn't be suddenly cut short. That his body aches for hers and how there isn't much he wouldn't do for one more opportunity to make love to her one last time.
Now, I'd like you to imagine a pause in the conversation. A solemn, contemplative moment of silence, with several of the people present nodding in agreement that this is indeed the finest answer - it wasn't a competition, but there's no doing better than that.
And then someone breaks this solemn silence and says:
"I also choose this guy's dead wife."
Oh, goddammit, they put up a "No Pondering" sign in front of that giant orb in the wizard gardens.
Well, you're not going to stop me from pondering that orb. The Wizard Council can suck it.
@wizard-council-bureaucrat You may want to weigh in on this...
what’s all this then?
You can't prove nuthin'.
don’t make me spray you
