I present to you, Pride and Prejudice! By Jane Austen, and Illustrated by Hugh Thomson! Use it for reading, bookbinding, or whathaveyou, the unimposed pdf is sized for half letter (letter folio). And oh god this one was tedious uh, fun to do!
All the illustrations are included in this typeset, PLUS all the dropcaps! See below the break for more interior shots, and details about making it.

So I kept the title page simple for this typeset, since there's so many beautiful illustrations going on by Hugh Thomson. Just look at this! There's even an illustration for List of Illustrations!
...the list was it's own pain, and a lot of the illustrations had to be manually added in 😅 Twas a fun morning of cross referencing pictures and page numbers.
I really loved the drop caps in this book, so I had to make sure to include them all! Each one was unique, and there's a ton of fun detail in these drawings, but the pic quality in the scans was a little rough. Here's hoping they translate okay in the pdf.
I just really love how this one turned out overall. I tried to have most of the illustrations at the largest size I could fit within my margins so that they could be properly admired. The original peacock version is so gorgeous, and of course Austen's writing is always an absolute joy to read. Anyway, here's hoping this typeset was helpful for folks!
Any errors, feel free to let me know! There was a lot of lines and files that needed to be manually placed and formatted, so some stuff might have gotten bumped around as I adjusted. If you've made it this far, thanks for stopping by!
Hey, just checking back about the possibility of a re-flowed Romeo and Juliet, or Vellum trade, for 1984 :)
Okay so tumblr is not working for me. I can't send messages or tag the account of this person, but I did reply in another post. Hopefully you see this @dainius-sileika! But I do not know what Vellum is nor would I know how to reflow it for it. If I could do it easily in Affinity I would for free but I'm not sure what you're asking. Sorry!

I was wondering if you'd be willing to trade Romeo and Juliett for a tidy, Vellum, version of 1984 that I typsette and corrected, based on the Project Guttenberg files?
I want to print Romeo and Juliett for my English class, bound properly, and I'd prefer 140 x 210 block sidze, since it's the "archetypal books size" for me - or, perhaps, you would generate the pdf, if you don't want to share the file?

Hi! Sorry I'm not sure I understand. What's Vellum? And what is 140x210 block size? I typeset in Affinity and I'm not sure how I'd resize for that, or if I could share the Affinity file as a template instead for you? Sorry for the confusion.

Hey, I’m pretty new to book binding and I’d like to try one of your small prints, octava I think it’s called? Anyway, I’ve downloaded your pride and prejudice - thank you so much, and would like to know what the best way to print it is. I ask this because all other typesets I’ve used are in landscape and two pages per sheet and yours are single pages? Sorry to be a pain, thank you for any help
Hi! You'll want to use an imposer like the one here:
Bookbinder
Just select the options for letter octavos and the imposer will format it into signatures for binding!
hello! thank you so much for sharing the typesets of classics with us I really appreciate them because they were surely a lot of work and they're gorgeous, I apologize if this question is redundant but once I download the pdf I can print them straight up and I don't have to format them like a book right? or do I still have to make sure two pages fit in one sheet of paper?
