Oh my god it’s been so long that the context for this post has faded

So in the US there’s this standardized test called the PSAT, and it determines your eligibility for a whole bunch of nationally competitive scholarships and stuff (but not actual university admissions, lol). There’s a math section, an essay section, and a reading section.

Basically in 2014 (2015?), one of the passages in the reading section contained the argument that because most American kids live in suburbs or cities, many of us have never seen an actual cow before. We might know, conceptually, what a cow is (big four legged animal that eats grass and makes milk/beef, lives on a farm, etc), but for the majority of American schoolchildren, that’s an abstraction! We haven’t seen real live cows in the flesh!

So of course, as soon as the PSAT ended, everyone began memeing as much as we could from the test, and one meme was basically just posting pics of cows and acting confused, like “what’s this, I’ve never seen it before in my life”.
