Dev looked up when he heard his leader’s voice. “Ah, it’s nothing, sir. I’m alright.” He said as he tried to hide them.

   He huffed, aching for a cigarette, and rubbed the stress away from his face. Pressing past, he walks away, shuffling through his pockets for a lighter, irritated and tired. He glances back, a final knife edge of a General’s ire, icechip eyes glinting coldly.

   “When you are finished with the medic, sign yourself up for two hours of cleaning, and dedicate another hour to remind the your fellows of the medics. After that, take two shifts off to recover.” finality rings in his voice, glancing away towards the end. “Understand?”

He shrank a bit more under that stare and looked away. Dev would have offered his own lighter but in light of the situation he didn’t move an inch. The Captain internally groaned at the order to clean. He hated cleaning but he wasn’t about to argue especially when he was already in trouble. So he merely nodded after each order. Then at the last word from his leader, “Yes sir...” His voice was soft but still audible.
