I can't get the screenshots from the mermaid's mask yet because I play in console and have to figure out how to pass the screenshots to pc but has anyone else realized that hex's dream and the doodle on the letters from Mortuga to Zephyr are the same as the painting in tangle tower?

I haven't played the other games in the series so idk if they appear there too or it's specific from these games but I'm really curious to see what it's building up to, because if I remember correctly in tangle tower it doesn't really get into it unless I missed something or I forgot since I played it a long time ago

So awesome how packed Tangle Tower and Mermaid Mask have been. They’re short if you just go through only what’s necessary. But each character has dialogue for every item you come across, every person you come across (even themselves), the items you observe in their room. You can go back to characters you met earlier in the story and they’ll have something to say about every new thing you’ve discovered. Hell even if you present two subjects that are extremely similar, they still put in the time to make unique dialogue instead of just doing a loop. I also have yet to meet a character I’ve hated.

It’s scratches a very specific itch I’ve had for character-focused games. Where full advantage of the medium is taken and you aren’t just “locked out” of specific characters until they’re relevant again. Everything flows together really nicely so it really feels like you’re piecing something together.

The fact that this series happened AND with dialogue that is actually entertaining and well-written feels amazing. The intro to Mermaid’s Mask was kind of cheesy, but once we got to meeting all the new characters I remembered why I liked Tangle Tower so much. Great writing (whedonisms aside), interesting characters, charming voice acting that isn’t ridiculously overacted, awesome fucking art, puzzles that are challenging but not unsolvable, mysteries that piece themselves together without feeling forced. Genuinely refreshing games that (like I’ve said before) take full advantage of their medium

WE ARE MERMAID MASK

sat down and beat The Mermaid Mask in one sitting. my eyeballs hurt. really good game, definitely recommend, it's maybe a little less thematically-concise than Tangle Tower but has a stronger conclusion. if you like investigating a bunch of weird little freaks for murder and showing them 48 pieces of evidence like you're in Ace Attorney, it's a goodun.

anyways I'd like to pitch Dirk Dansom/JD Wirman as the yaoi ship of the summer. you KNOW some gay shit happened in that bunkroom, maybe for "research" purposes...? anything to break through the writer's block.
