Ghoul Bio - General #5 - Affiliations and Sins

Every ghoul subspecies is 'devoted' to one or two Deadly Sins. These influence their behaviour, powers and influence on humans. Topside, this influence is reflected in their interaction with mortals and feeds the Sins in Hell. Every ghoul is obligated to sacrifice the power they collected through spreading Hell's magic in the human realm, once a month. This can be done with a proper ritual, a prayer or an action. For example: a sacrifice to Asmodeus can be made by having sex on an altar or while sacrificial candles are lighted. Ghouls tend to worship every Sin, especially Topside, but sacrifices towards their Devotions are required and must be made. 

Water Ghouls: Water is devoted to Envy and Lust, Leviathan and Asmodeus. This is reflected in their sea monster based appearance and their siren powers. Some water ghouls, like Rain, are also claimed by Greed, Mammon, which is reflected in them being crazy for earthly possessions, most of the time gold. All water ghouls love gold but only a few of them are obsessed enough to be claimed by Mammon.

Fire Ghouls: Fire is devoted to Wrath and Pride, Satan and Lucifer. This is reflected in their short temper and often stubbornness/unwillingness to accept advice. When Dewdrop transitioned, his devotion didn't change, which leaves him claimed by four Sins.

Earth Ghouls: Earth is devoted to Gluttony and Sloth, Beelzebub and Behemoth. This is reflected in earth ghouls being very focused on their element, spending hours in greenhouses, neglecting their other duties and being unable to do anything else.

Air Ghouls: Air is devoted to Greed and Sloth. They tend to want more territory than they can handle and get extremely possessive over their mates, while also being too lazy/not caring enough to make sure they keep said territory.

Quintessence Ghouls: Quint is devoted to Lust and Pride, sometimes also Envy. They are a subspecies with extreme beauty standards, taking pride in their appearance and magic. Lust is important to them since they are the most humanoid ghouls and tended to be used to seduce humans in old times (aka, incubi, succubi). Envy can be thrown into the mix when a ghoul is jealous of a human's way of living, wishing it could be them instead (which happened often when ghouls wished to be mothers/fathers to the children they had with humans in the Middle Ages)

The Cardinal sat at his desk, eyes closed as he waited for the latest appointment to arrive. He had been asked to take a fire Ghoul to task, to help them control their powers better - he had built up a reputation of fine control and teaching within the church, despite his cold demeanour.

Before him lay a teapot with two cups and saucers, waiting for the Ghoul's lesson. How better to teach than force them to use their ability on an element that goes directly against their own?

A knock on the heavy wooden door had him opening his eyes and calling out.

Do y'all ever think about how fucking creepy quintessence ghouls are? It all seems so innocent at first until the more it starts to get recognized.

Phantom suddenly wincing and doubling over, whining as he lets go of Cumulus' wrist; feeling her period cramp in his own body. Who simply can't work in the infirmary as he's too sensitive and begins to feel so much pain and illness.

Delta, in all he has left of his mind, slowly turning to Alpha who cares for him. "Someone will die in four days. They'll be impaled." And they'll go quiet again, comatose and unresponsive like usual. He's never been wrong before.

Swiss, though he doesn't have much, is ADAMANT that he and Rain shouldn't sneak out tonight. They should stay in, instead. It's a gut feeling. Come to find out next morning, their "spot" had caved in due to water damage and killed a sibling that was hiding there.

Aurora doesn't have much either. She wakes up bawling her eyes out, telling Cirrus her dream of one of the guitar techs putting in a cord wrong, and the moment Dew plugs his in — he gets electrocuted. Sure enough, there was a bare wire and a water bottle too close.

Interesting how Perpetua's skeleton vestment is purple - sure, that's his colour scheme, as evidenced by the jackets etc

however specifically the Fascia being purple is worn by people who are not cardinals, but archbishops, and patriarchs, and Papal chaplains.

Does this perhaps suggest that V was serving as a lower member of the church until he was rapidly anointed? Maybe that's why he's so reserved and aggressive, because this wasn't something he wanted, but something that was foisted onto him

I love cute, chaotic cat ghouls but I also want the scary and dangerous creatures from the pit. I'm talking about ghouls that normally live in graveyards and eat corpses. Ghouls that were summoned by the ministry and escaped this way of life and now live more civilized lives.

But they are still beasts. And even though it is forbidden, they do feed on siblings of sin that roam the corridors of the ministry after dark. The ghouls can be very evil and devious and their desire for human flesh is so great that they sometimes lure them out of their rooms at night. People are easily dazzled by beauty and are lured with sweet promises.

The only reason the ghouls shy away from attacking Sister Imperator, Nihil, Copia, or other members of the clergy is because they consume other alchemical concoctions besides holy water, which deters the ghouls.

Ok, so I'm not much of a theorist when it comes to Ghost, or anything else for that matter, but I have one that @historian-crown pointed it out and I had to share.

When Copia drops his straw, the first thing he picks up is a pair of pliers

Usually, pilers are used to get nails out of wood.

The second thing he picks up before he finds the straw, is an American flag.

This could represent one of the two L.A. shows that are back to back, which could possibly mean that Copia will be crucified on 9/11, and resurrected the very next night.

Oh, and also, the fact that he's drinking orange juice. It comes from the movie The Godfather, where everytime oranges appear on screen, someone dies. He is too calm for the situation he's in. Him saying that he figured out the whole Jesus thing, could point out to the fact that he knows he's the Antichrist and the crucifiction won't harm him, better yet, make him more powerful.
