ABOUT ME:
Hi, Im Jonathan, sometimes Frank, he/they/it, this is my comfort/special interest sideblog because I love any and all spiders. I'd love to be a hobbyist someday. I also dont check this blog daily, most of everything is on a queue.
My icon is Louis Wain's art because I dont want to jumpscare arachnophobic people through my icon, should they find my blog at random. And because I want all spiders to be that cared for as the image suggests as well, haha.
My favorite spider youtuber is Richard from @thetarantulacollective who helped me in my final hurdle of overcoming my own arachnophobia back in 2018 :) !
! However, I do not own any spiders at the moment (also see below *! ), even though I'd love to, but due to my declining health and the need for a more stable home, it's just impossible to atm.
My favorite spiders are Golden Silk Orb Weavers, AKA Trichonephila clavipes (especially older females with their widows robe look), and any giant spider because you can take good photos of them with any camera, and I cant accidentally kill them. I am also into books and have a little library in my 500sqft apartment :) ! ā”
ABOUT THIS BLOG:
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not talk about wanting to harm/kill/eat the spiders I share. Its highly upsetting. If you wouldn't say it to someone's beloved cat/dog/iguana/pet in general, dont say it around me.
! However, if its scientifically interesting, or such alike of post mortem preservation by natural death, I will sometimes post dead spiders, but they are all tagged "#bug death" or "#animal death" so its filtered out. If I need to be more specific, please let me know! Asking to tag doesn't hurt anyone, and I will not mock you.
*! I try to learn what I can about proper husbandry or updated informationals on all of them, but sometimes I am a little ignorant (but working on it!) So please feel free to share information with me to keep me informed!
Also! Please feel free to show me spiders you find throughout your day, or ones you find that you'd love to know what kind of critter they are (with general location, example being: SW Missouri, or Linconshire, UK) (use Submissions if you want your location removed, or i can make a new text post and @ or credit you!) and I'll do my best to find to find out more about them! Its fun for me.
