But seriously when are they making a third National Treasure. I've been waiting since 2007. George W. Bush was president when they made the second one. What the heck Disney. Am I delusional for still waiting?

When I suggest people go to the doctor for something a lot of them seem to assume I don’t know what it’s like to have doctors that don’t listen to you. Yeah I do actually. I still think you should go to the doctor.
So my boyfriend got me flowers on Valentine’s Day. Which I was thrilled about and they were so cute. He didn’t get roses which like everyone on social media is always like get her something else roses are so lame or low effort or whatever. Except I love roses. I literally have a rose and bee tattoo on my forearm. They are my absolute favorite flower. So like I appreciate the effort and I know why he picked what he did because the bouquet actually is something that feels incredibly me. Idk what I’m even talking about but like I would have loved roses but I also love what he gave me
This summer I went for a run on our family vacation. Where we were staying is about 5000 ft higher in elevation than where I live. The run was rough about half way thru I stopped puke and kept going..
When I got back I was talking to my mom and some of my cousins about it and my mom asked me why I didn’t just stop and turn around then.
I just kind of shrugged and told her that she don’t raise me to be a quitter.
Anyway I’ve been thinking a lot about that recently and there are a lot of moments that I think that rang true for me.
Getting out of my abusive relationship
Running my first half marathon with Covid and glass in my foot
Moving hours and hours away from everyone I know. Twice
Continuing to see the best in people after my relationship and job taught me to expect the worst
Choosing to be kind and soft when the world tells me I shouldn’t
So shout out to my parents but my mom especially who told me it’s not my innate ability that makes me stand out but my willingness to put it all on the line every. Single. Time.
idk thinking about how sometimes you have to show up for people you aren't that close to, because sometimes you're just the person who's there. sometimes you invite a new friend to a party and end up having to sit with them through a panic attack. sometimes you run into an acquaintance on their worst day and they need to talk about what happened. sometimes someone is crying in a stairwell and you're the only one around to ask if they're okay. and none of this is "trauma dumping" or whatever the fuck it's just being there for people because you're the one in the room with them.
i think the reason "fiction affects reality" trips so many people up is because they think it means "engaging with media that depicts uncomfortable subjects will taint your soul" when really all it means is that "fiction is meant to reflect certain ideas of the world intentionally or not, and it's going affect your perception of it, if you don't go in with a healthy bit of skepticism"
like playing a first person shooter isn't going to turn you into a school shooter, but that doesn't mean that Call of Duty isn't like. explicitly military propaganda.
or (for a more specific but also weirdly common example) enjoying horror movies isn't going to turn you into a serial killer, but if you watch a lot of horror where the killer is "a gender confused man who kills women whilel dressed in drag, because his repressed female split personality hates his attraction to women because it gives her gender dysphoria" than you should like. be a bit criticial of what you're enjoying. or something like that.
But at the end of it, the point shouldn't be "certain kinds of stories should not be enjoyed by anyone bc they will warp you" and more like "please use your brain sometimes when watching/reading/playing things because every single story has messages in it about important ideas"
Even if sometimes the message is "the author/artist etc put zero thought into this idea bc it's something people make blind assumptions about"
I don't even think you Must Perform Criticism Of Thing Or It's Bad And You're Bad
Just like, have thoughts idk, be curious about what things mean, have that be something that matters to you sometimes
The sky has been pretty fucking great so far this year
Should I fuck around and make a quilt this year

So I'm an archivist and a few days ago I got an email from a 15-year-old girl wanting to know if I've got any material on the only still-existing old mill in town (you've got to imagine this mill not like a quaint, stereotypical windmill the likes of which Don Quixote fought against but rather like an industrialisation-era factory).
I wrote back and asked if she needed this for a school project or for something else where there's a deadline looming, for the simple reason that the more time I have, the more in-depth I can go with my research and the more material I'll be able to get for her.
And she answered that no, it's for her personal use because she's interested in abandoned buildings in general.
And, like. What an absolutely excellent hobby for a teenage girl to have. I bet she's the coolest person in her class and I hope that no one ever gives her a hard time about her interests.
Tagging these war memes as "lol" and "funny" is starting to make me twitch
When I left my abusive relationship for a long time I was still recovering and not quite myself. And then I was out at a bar with my bestie and Mr Brightside came on… every single person in that bar sang along to the whole song. And when that first jealousy was sung and every person in the bar had stopped what they were doing to sing along.. for a few fleeting moments I was me again.
"get home safe" is a spell and i am casting it on all of you ✨
fuck that year, I need everyone to hit the showers
hitting the showers for like, decontamination purposes. you've done nothing wrong, you actually did something amazing making it through this year. which is why we should hit the showers as soon as possible. been a disgusting year
