I was very angry about this, admittedly. Jaune being concerned about Weiss’ safety after she was stabbed was fine, she’s his friend and he probably thinks she holds a grudge against him for all his romantic BS, so he wants her to survive so he can make things right over time.
But being the one to heal her, to have to hold her to do so, that’s too far. She may have a lot of potential love interests, but most of us took Jaune off the list years ago. A healing semblance is pretty cool, you could certainly change their ship name from White Knight to White Mage if you wanted to be clever, and we really wanted Weiss to be saved. But putting them together like this left a sour taste. They have both gone through so much character growth, and now the writers seem to be pushing shipping fuel back on the table, making you worry that Weiss will immediately fall for her “savior”.
At first.
We don’t know EXACTLY what Jaune’s Semblance does, and we later see he doesn’t have to directly touch her to use it, plus Ren is there too to see if she was stabilizing. Not to mention, it isn’t an instant fix, and he has to keep channeling his power to, from all we can truly tell, have her wounds heal.
(Notice: this next bit of theorizing is not original to me, but points made by another user, whose post I reblog fed earlier today. The points still apply, however.)
It’s possible it’s just a Stat buff. He could be using his ability to boost her Aura’s power so she can heal herself quickly, even when her aura has been depleted. He could also have indirectly using it on himself all this time, healing that first cut back in Volume 1 faster than most other people heal, and even buffing his own strength for such feats as tossing Pyrrha in the tournament or stopping the Nuckelavee with only his sword. That sort of an outcome would be far more satisfying. And hopefully, that’s what we get.
Still… doesn’t help the fact that such a power would have been pretty useful when Pyrrha was fighting Cinder.
