Completely forgot I had these set to be shipped here. Finally got my copies of Lorenzo Etherington’s drawing books from the kickstarter. It was something I was excited to share with my students but I guess they’re just going to be all for me for a bit. Coming up at the end of the month I’ll be visiting Western Mass. and I’ll also have a few pieces in the alumni show at Westfield State University. I didn’t take many photos at San Diego Comic Con. It was a very intense event for me, and I’m glad it all went very well as a whole. I’m grateful to have been able to be there to support the company I work for, and get the chance to meet so many amazing artists and make new friends. Getting reacclimatized to being around crowds is going to take a while for me, and this was definitely a jump into the deep end. I think highlight of the events was meeting Wendy and Richard Pini, creators of Elfquest. It was a major influence on me as a little kid as far as comics go, and seeing a couple that created stories together for decades is probably one if the most inspirational and romantic things I can imagine. Also they were just amazingly nice people. Touched this guy up a tiny bit. Quick demo I had did for students a few weeks ago. Realizing I don’t have many things as I’d like for the faculty show coming in a few weeks. Thinking this polished up isn’t the worst. I still got a ways to go as far as portrait painting goes but it’s fun to just mess with saturation when you know you’ve already made mistakes. Got down to @escapistcomics a couple weeks ago to get a signed copy of Fairlady 1 really digging the idea behind the whole series and this alt cover by Tula Latoy. Issue2 coming out this week but @brian_schirmer has written these in a way you can pick it up and enjoy without even needing this first one! @claudiabalboni does an awesome job putting out great visuals for the story as well. More unasked for fanart. Da Shi from “The Three Body Problem”. Really enjoyed this book, going to have to pick up the rest of the trilogy soon. Big Shi definitely one of my favorite characters. I didn’t picture him as scuzzy when I was reading it. I think his crude composition that remained unwavering throughout the story was part of his major charm. My rare and unasked for bit of fan art. The Limper from the Black Company series by Glen Cook. He slowly became one of my favorite fantasy secondary characters.
