Alright, what can I say but I am really disappointed. It’s been established throughout the seasons that Obama is the President. Why did the writers have to change that to have Lucifer possess President Genericwhitemanwithnorealpoliticalaffiliation? If it was to not offend anyone, then how about we dont have Lucifer possess the POTUS? Obama has been acknowledged a few times as recently as S10 and that helped keep the Winchesters in “our” reality and not in an alternate reality like The French Mistake, but now, they are no longer in this world, and this makes me sad.
I dont know how i feel about these monster hunting toys Mr Ketch brought with him, I guess they’re cool, but I like hearing the Latin exorcisms, and chopping off Vamp heads, i really dont want killing monsters to become too easy, half the fun is watching the boys get out of near death (and actual death) situations, so, I guess we shall see how these toys help or hinder the hunts.
Have the writers forgotten how Sam and Dean interact with each other? I think they have because there have been no good brotherly moments all season. The best so far was in 12X3 when talking about Mom, otherwise, its as though someone who has never watched the series, skimmed through a book of Supernatural clift notes and tried to write for the Winchesters. Dialogue has relied mainly on snappy one liners, usually by Crowley or Cas, and Sam and Dean just kinda share small talk. It feels like Im watching some other show where Sam and Dean are supporting characters and dont have many lines. They have had some very good lines when talking to other people, but with each other, its been very weak, S11 may have had its issues, but the speech and chemistry between Sam and Dean was not one of them.
Where was Cas taking the girlfriend (dont remember her name)? Planned Parenthood? Can he not zap the Devil Spawn from her womb? if he cant then who could/can? Also, do we need to have an abortion story? I dont think so.
It was cool that Sam got to be the one to catch Lucifer, since hes had the most reason to hate him throughout the series, but we know much of Luci’s essence escaped down the heater vent, or maybe thats how he goes to hell? I dont know, that wasnt very clear, but Im sure we’re not done with him yet. The boys got arrested again, and thats always intriguing and it has been a while since they have been, so im down with that, and interested in how they handle isolation, away from everyone, especially each other, for 6 weeks or more. I wont lie and say I wouldnt enjoy watching some “life in maximum security” with maybe some prison shower scenes, prison yard fights, or either of them going crazy in the silence, though at least from the previews, they both look pretty well groomed. I guess they can still shave in Federal lock up. Im sure they’ll get out, theres dozens of ways to free a Winchester, but it wouldnt hurt to carry that story out over a couple episodes.
So my rating for LOTUS on a scale of Bloodlines to Swan Song is a 6 out of 10. Im hanging on the cliff for the boys in isolation, but REALLY pissed that canon was forgotten just to make a President become possessed.
