Finally watched The Bride and,
i really wanted to like it, but it felt like trying to get off while on antidepressants. I liked the cooky bits, the dancing singing , LOVED the merry shelly thing, but damn i was expecting more of a feminist telling and it was, So surface level so performative with it. Like, really, did you have to wait for the cop to be shot before ripping his tongue out?
Saw a tt "frank was a victim of the monster lonelyness epidemic" and frick , movie really shoved that down my troath. And what was the MOST infuriating was that the movie WAS SELF AWARE, The Bride KNEW she was going through the same experiences as before and even with the feminine rage voice in her head screaming : DO STH ABOUT IT, she always just Reacted to what was gaing on.
Don t want to talk about Frank anymore cuz he was really a creep and even though the acting was very good(and phenomenal for Bride), he just didn t do it for me. Like, you are a monster, you have been seen as a monster by others and know how hard it is but at the end of the day you still follow the script you WISH, YOU CRAVE A TRAD FAMILY, YOU WISH, AND JUST CUZ YOU WISH YOU THINK YOU DESERVE. Im so upset you guys
The movie theatre scene was one of my favourites. Bride was the only person there that understood the girl was sexually abused and STOPPED THE ABUSER, and even though Frank and everybody else was also there, nobody else said anything. Also, until white boy cried 'Monster' cuz he was stopped from raping his gf, no one had a problem with the two(not a critique of the movie, just o sevation and i love it). Loved how the scene ended with the abused girl being the only one not joining the mob of angry ppl, loved how it paralleled an earlier scene , in the club where another girl looked just as pensive about what happened there. Loved how it paralelled the Bride, waiting , watching, till finally revolting. Loved how the first riot brought the second one, where justice was ¿actually kind of¿ served to that mafia boss. But fuck the sistem cuz that was shit and i m sorry to my detective that she has to live trough that. Fuck her partner tho, bohoo, actually laughed at his white man crocodile tears.
THE MOVIE WAS AWARE OF EVERYTHIGN IT DID and i think it purposefully made me upset ,like telling us YOU SEE IT, DON T IGNORE IT, it made me upset on purpose i think, or i hope.
But fuck if i didn t want more than surface revenge and more than perform feminism. It Was, kind of, at least, white feminist but fuck if it tried to do more. I feel my blood boinilg and need a 4 hour yt video from one of my favourite creators just to feel better. Sorry for the rambling but needed to word vomit my half formed thoughts and Bride , i love you, i live you, you deserved so much more
