hey so it’s march now aka the beginning of endometriosis awareness month and i feel obligated to remind you that debilitatingly painful periods are not normal. if you or someone you know is ending up sick or bedridden every month, you are not crazy and deserve medical attention from someone who will take you seriously
hey it’s march again let’s get this post circulating again
I cannot stress this enough!! Periods longer than a week, extremely heavy bleeding (could be hemorrhaging), debilitating cramps, shedding large blood clots, needing pain medication to just get through the day, cramps extending past your uterus (if it goes into your hips or further), passing out from low iron or pain, illness symptoms (extreme nausea, fever), associated migraines, extreme PMS (wide, debilitating mood swings and hormone changes), PMDD, etc. ALL of these symptoms are EXTREMELY common in women who go undiagnosed with endometriosis, fibroids (non-cancerous tumors), uterine/cervical/ovarian cancer, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancies, infertility, and more You do not need to have all of these symptoms to be valid. You could have just one symptom and YOU ARE STILL VALID!!
My doctor did not take me seriously and I nearly died from uterine fibroids. I am only alive because I received an emergency hysterectomy.
Uterine health is not talked about. You should not be at risk of death for a doctor to take you seriously. Do your research, find a good doctor, and discuss ALL options.
Advocate, advocate, advocate!!
