Heroine with a burning heart
I’m continuing to make purposeful art wanting to paint images of powerful girls who light their own trajectory in space. In this piece, a girl picks up her pencil aimed create her next idea. Her heart is passionate and filled with potential, and her mind is the infinite universe.

It hasn’t been easy this week, and have been feeling distracted. I’m thankful that I can channel my artistic abilities and my energy for good things, like designing the Asian American and Pacific Islanders in Geosciences logo and being a part of the steering committee.
In the logo, I represent as many different fields of earth & planetary sciences as I could. The four sections of the logo spell out AAPI.
If you are in the Earth and Planetary sciences field and want an invite, DM me on my instagram @/catblip or my Twitter @/caro_in_space.
Our Pale Blue Dot (2020) I’m thinking about accessibility to space, and envisioning a future where civilian astronauts can come together on the moon—not for a military space race, but for international collaboration in STEM and to connect on a personal level what seeing the “Earthrise” means to them. I chose to portray the experience through the reflection of a helmet to bring the viewer into the illustration, as if you are the one beneath the visor witnessing our tiny home in the universe. What would you be feeling?

Wanderer Above a Sea of Vapor.
You have finally reached Enceladus, a small moon on the outskirts of Saturn's rings. Stare across at the plumes of water vapor erupting from a deep ocean beneath the surface.

Laika, born in Moscow, became the first animal to orbit the Earth. This is my tribute to her and the many dogs who were sacrificed for space travel.

It’s Not October but I wanted to finish this piece of a little space witch with her robot cat familiar. Spot the objects orbiting in the back!

On this day 18 October, Félicette was launched into space for 15 minutes by the French space program, becoming the first cat in space and the only cat to survive a launch. Here's my tribute to her.
Bonus: she got honored with a bronze statue at the International Space University in Dec 2019!
Fluff!
Something fun, I discovered artist trading cards and made these with space tourism in mind. If I could go anywhere in our solar system, what absolutely touristy things would I do?*
1. Take a pic with Neil Armstrong’s footprint on the moon 👩🚀
2. Save Opportunity rover by cleaning the dust off the solar panels (RIP)
3. Take a selfie with Curiosity rover
4. See Saturn’s rings in the sky from Titan
*while trying not to get in the way of science
I wanted to #redrawsailormoon but also #redrawreigen so here’s the combined abomination.
Quesodillo, a cheesy armadillo! When he rolls up, he looks like a wheel of cheese.

I have been working on and off this piece ever since I got a rejection from a Big Thing a few weeks ago, and now a way to pass time during social distancing. I wanted to channel my despair into something I wanted to draw for a while, and I hope it lifts you up a little too.
On another note, I turned it into a Redbubble piece so people can buy it from my “shop” (also under catblip). Something I wanted to do for a while too was launch some kind of store! Thanks to my friend Alicia for recommending Redbubble a while ago and to my friend Julia for the recent encouragement.
