I feel like not enough people realize that people under enormous strain act really really fucking Weird
things humans are known to do when stressed:
-hallucinate
-cry over what seems to be small things
-become furiously angry over what seems to be small things
-hit a self destruct button over and over again
-lose all sense of reality
-becoming straight up unable to communicate
-view every situation as life or death
-experience delusions/become vulnerable to irrational worldviews
-perceive hostility where none exists
-become extremely nauseous and/or throw up
-stop engaging in sleeping/eating/basic hygiene
-stop processing sensory input
-process way too much sensory input all at once
-lash out at others/themselves
-and more!
being able to recognize when a human (ie. you or another person) is so stressed out they cannot think clearly is VERY important for conflict resolution and diffusing emotional crisis. highly recommend trying to train yourself at being able to recognize that state of panic- there is a point in which logic and rationality is useless and you have to address the underlying emotional issue first. knowing that saves everyone a lot of pain and struggle.

YOU ARE INTERESTED IN IT???? write it because YOU are interested in it and YOU want to write about it. fanfic writing should always be first and foremost about YOUR enjoyment, not other people’s.

like the betrayal’s always going to be worse if they cared about you and it didn’t matter. someone discards you because they didn’t give a shit, then you can be angry about that, you can feel vindicated in that, you can get over it. but if they can look you in the eyes and say “I love you. I would make the same choice again.” You will never sleep peacefully again, is all.
“I thought they cared about me, but they were lying this whole time.” <- tired. boring. removes all the nuance of this relationship to make it easier to move on from.

I couldn’t.” <- insane. will never leave you alone. reminds you that even the worst people are still people and can still care about even the ones they hurt the most and that undoes neither the harm nor the love.

What I would be more interested in is learning exactly what Janet Drake was up to to create Master Stalker over there.
one thing ive been loving abt columbo so far is that almost all the murderers are rich pricks. the episode will cold open on someone plotting out their kill in the gaudiest house known to man and im like hell yeah. my shabby little guy is gonna get you

I just started watching Columbo for the first time and oh my god I totally get all y’all’s fascination with this man. He’s hunched and shabby and rambles constantly and seems distressed and disorganized but is in fact always the shrewdest fucker in the room. And like we know nothing about him as a person other than the anecdotes he tells people which may or may not be true. Like the mystery detective is in himself the biggest mystery. Learning his first name is a lore drop. I know more about Doctor Who than I do this bedraggled man with a glass eye. Character of all time for real.

in my experience the only reason to use something wireless is if you have a habit of damaging the wires. keep walking into tree branches that yank out your earbuds? wireless earbuds make sense. keep getting tangled in your mouse's chord every time you get up and ending up accidentally launching the mouse into the floor daily? wireless mouse makes sense. I'll never say these options shouldn't exist because they do have important uses, but I do think they need to remain options. they must not be made mandatory. that's the whole issue we need to be allowed to choose what works best for us as individuals. stop taking away our options or I'll start taking away your bones.
basically the best thing any character can do is decide they don't want to be afraid anymore - in fact they never want to be afraid of anything ever again - and take action so drastic they fail to realise that this too is a decision motivated by fear. or to account for the Consequences of that.
[with obvious perverted intent] hey. don't you want to release the safety catches on that character. don't you want to flip off all the switches holding them back and let the control rods go.
If you heard "Batman has four sons", you'd be forgiven for thinking that each of those sons has three brothers. But that's a rookie mistake. Dick is the only one of them who actually has three brothers, and that's because he put in the work for it, thank you very much. Jason has one brother (Dick), and two kids that his dad had after he moved out (Tim and Damian). Damian actually ping pongs between acknowledging Tim and Jason as his brothers, and thinking they don't count because they're not related to him, but regardless of how he feels about those two he is always related to Dick, Dick just isn't always his brother. So Damian can vary wildly from having three brothers to two brothers to zero brothers.
Tim is literally only brothers to Dick. The other two are his annoying coworkers.
