Katherine closed Twitter and looked outside the window. She was in a car with Agent Blount and Anna on their way towards Parr Tower. It was decided after the meeting, and once everyone had cooled down, that the best thing for the team was to stay the night together and the best place for it would be Parr Industries Headquarters in central London. This meant that if by some chance, the attacks started earlier, the group of heroes would be able to get there faster than if they were travelling from their homes, most of them being on the edges of the city.
To pass time through travelling through central London, she was on her phone like any normal teenager would be and she was surprised that people didn't freak out that much. Kat knew that, that would change when the attack would take place.
After travelling for 30 minutes through busy streets of London, the cars containing the heroes and three agents *kidnappers* thought Katherine, finally arrived at Parr Tower, where they would spend the night getting to know the other members of the team and getting ready to fight Henry.
The three of them left the car and met up with Parr, Boleyn and Lee who arrived just a minute before. The group were joined by Aragon, Seymour and Salinas after a short while, the trio arriving last. The nine women made their way inside the tower and Katherine was impressed, to say the least. Whoever designed the building had taste. It was modern and white with blue accents. Very tasteful and minimalistic.
Kat could see many people walking around, minding their own or company businesses, nobody paying attention to the large group of women that had just entered. One of the security guards approached Parr and whispered something to which she nodded and led them towards a large elevator on the left side of the entrance, bypassing the security. It was fortunately large enough to fit all of them comfortably. The door closed but nobody clicked any buttons.
“BRIAN? Please take us to floor 80.” Said Catherine and everyone looked around, not seeing who this Brian was. However, all of them jumped when she got a reply.
“Of course Miss Parr, right away. I will also put the light on and adjust the temperature.” Said the robotic voice from inside the elevator and quickly started moving upwards.
“I presume it was some sort of computer?” Asked Anne awkwardly, not knowing what to say about the whole situation. “But that’s just my observation.”
“Actually, it’s an AI, fully functional and capable of thinking for himself,” Parr said with a small, proud smile. “I named him after my uncle who took care of my brother and I after our parents died.”
“That’s sentimental.” Smiled Seymour and the whole elevator went back to a (somehow) comfortable silence until the elevator stopped with a ping.
The door opened to show a large living room. It had a see-through wall on the opposite side of the elevator. Along that wall was a row of white, comfortable-looking couches and chairs. The walls were painted a light sky blue and grey, giving the whole room a calming look.
“Whoa, this looks nice, Parr. What a nice room to greet your guests. It’s very… you.” Joked Anne, jumping on the nearest couch, and putting her legs on the coffee table.
“I think it’s just parrfect.” Said Seymour and everyone looked towards her weirdly. “Sorry, I was trying to make a pun.” She chuckled to herself.
“I heard that you were a comedian but I don’t understand how anyone would laugh at that.” Replied Anne, earning a chuckle from both Katherine and Anna. However she also received a stern look from 3 Agents in the room - Salinas, Aragon and Lee - and a sad puppy look from Seymour. Parr and Blount just shook their heads.
“If most of you stopped behaving like children, I would like to point out that it’s my living room that most of my guests never see so be grateful,” Catherine said before anyone could say anything else. “This is one of my 3 personal floors so please don’t wreck it too much. I still want to spend time in my living room without it being destroyed… again.”
“What do you mean again? Did a group of women with some sort of abilities destroy it before?” Asked Bessie, sitting down on a nearby couch next to Anna and Katherine.
“Nope. It was BRIAN and me. Well, I mean he was in one of the suits and I was in another. We had a mock fight in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep which definitely wasn’t my greatest idea. We ripped a huge hole in the ceiling.”
“Now I want to see you do it again if I’m being honest.” Said Anne.
“I’ll bring popcorn for the entertainment.” Added Anna and the two of them high fived each other in the air from a distance.
“I think we should pick someone to be your leader for the mission. While Director Meutas will be controlling the whole operation from the TOWER along with many agents, there will have to be one of you making sure that everything out there on the field is going okay. It will be just the six of you. Military and a few agents will help you but they will mostly have to make sure that any civilians in the city will be safe.” Stated Salinas as an unofficial leader of Agents (other than Aragon)
The heroes looked between each other, silently debating the choice.
“Well, I am underage so I’m out” Said Katherine with a smug smile.
“I have anger issues that count me out as a reliable leader.” Added Anne, smirking slightly.
“Don’t look at me, I can barely look after myself to make sure that I don’t accidentally die. No positions of power for me, hey!” Laughed Anna, getting comfortable on her couch.
The remaining three women looked around, each looking at the other two women in silence.
“I think each one of us would be a good leader…” Said Jane, looking at Aragon and Parr, meeting their eyes. “However, as the oldest person here, I think I have the most experience in this type of job. Let us also not forget that I was and still am a Captain in British Army.”
“Sorry? You were frozen in ice for 70 years. I think that means you still are as young as you were back then, Seymour. I, on the other hand, am an agent in a secret government agency who knows how London works and I know this city.” Countered Aragon jumping towards Seymour, looking straight into her eyes.
“Really? Everything you do is being told to you. I led men into a battle and we won. You don’t have that experience, Aragon.”
“Unless you haven’t noticed, I’m not sure if being in the freezer for so long damaged your vision, but we are not men. We are women and we need someone who can lead us. You are not that so just step down and let me do it.”
“I don’t think so. I am not letting you do it. I won’t let some random woman lead this team and possibly cause us to lose.”
“YOU LITTLE-” Started Aragon, grabbing Seymour by her suit before they suddenly found themselves on opposite sides of the room, thrown against the walls.
The room was silent as they looked at what happened only to see Parr standing where they were before, wearing her Iron Woman gauntlets in each hand, with a hard look on her face.
“Both of you behave worse than 5-year-olds, we are supposed to be bonding and yet you squabble over something we don’t even need! I thought you would be better but if that’s how it will be, personally I think it’s better if we all decide on the field what we are doing, no leaders. I think we are all mature enough to make sure that it won’t be a problem.”
“Or maybe you want to become a leader?” Asked Jane, stepping towards Parr, the tension getting heavier in the room.
“Yeah. It seems like you want to be the one to lead us.” Added Aragon, tilting her head at the other woman. “Look at me, I am Catherine Parr and I say what is the best for everyone!” She added in a high pitched voice, trying to imitate Parr.
“I have to agree with you on that one, Spy, but don’t think that it makes us friends,” Seymour grumbled and moved closer towards the centre of the room.
The other agents didn’t know what to do with the newfound tension but fortunately, the other 3 heroes knew that they had to do something before 3 women killed each other.
“I REALLY THINK COFFEE WOULD BE NICE RIGHT ABOUT NOW!” Mused Anne, very loudly, making it seem like she was talking to herself. Parr, Aragon and Seymour stopped looking at each other, Boleyn now being the centre of their attention.
“Uhm, yeah… Right… I have a kitchen right there. I’ll make everyone coffee or tea.” Catherine said and quickly disappeared from the room towards where she said the kitchen was and the tension in the living room quickly disappeared.
Seymour and Aragon sat on the couches as far as possible from each other and the room was silent now, the only noise heard was breathing and some fans working.
“I think I will go help Parr with all of those cups. I also have this difficult coffee order. I don’t drink it any other way.” Anna quickly fled the room, leaving Anne and Katherine looking as if she was an evil witch who had killed their dog and laughed about it at the end of a song. The others didn’t seem to pay her any attention.
“Hello,” She said as she entered the kitchen, seeing Parr standing with 9 cups and 2 pots, probably with either coffee or tea inside them. “Wanted to see if you needed any help, Cathy Parr.”
“Cathy? Really?” Asked the other woman with a small smile on her face.
“Well, I decided everyone needs a nickname. When I say Katherine or Catherine it sounds the same. Or Catherine and Katherine. And then we have Catalina. Honestly, how many women can have similar names? This is like 33% of this group!”
“Don’t forget Anna and Anne. Those two are very similar.”
“I know, right? Stupid green imposter, I’m the superior Anne/Anna.”
“Fortunately for everyone we only have one Jane, Elizabeth, Maria or Margaret. I think that Lee is called Margaret but don’t take my word on that.” Joked Cathy, snorting lightly.
“I am also not sure about that one. I just call her “Mean Agent” in my head. Honestly, all the time I look at her, it looks as if she was getting ready for some kind of war. I mean, I know that we might be having a battle for humanity tomorrow but honestly, smile a little. Jeez, is that a lot to ask?” The woman dressed in red acted dramatically, clenching her hand across her chest as if she was being hurt.
“Do you have any other nicknames? For the others?” Asked Parr, filling one of the pots with hot water and turning her head to look at the other woman.
“I mean, yes. So we have Catalina as Lina. I think that’s actually a word for rope in Polish and to be honest, I would not be surprised if she had a rope hidden somewhere in that uniform of hers. Anne is Anne or Shrek.” At that, Catherine burst out laughing. “HEY! Don’t laugh. Just imagine her saying ‘What are you doing in my swamp?!’” Said Anna in a deep voice, trying to imitate Shrek. "And you will understand where I am getting this from. Jane is Cap or just Jane. Might buy her a cap after all of this is done. Then we will have Cap on Cap. If we buy two and she stands on one of them, we will have a cap sandwich. Little Howard is Kat because she reminds me of a cat but we put K at the start. And by we, I mean me and maybe you in the future. You, Catherine Parr, are of course Cathy. Lee we already talked about, Blount is Bessie and Salinas is Marrrrrrrrria. Remember, the more you roll the r's, the better the effect.”
Catherine Parr chuckled at the last comment, thinking what Salinas would think about it.
“You’ve known us for a few hours and you already came up with those? It’s pretty impressive.”
“It is not impressive. I was just bored.” Replied Anna, smirking. “So what are we having here?” She pointed at the pots, now filled to the brim with hot liquids.
“One of them has coffee, normal black. The other has tea, Earl Grey. I have milk in the mini-fridge in the living room so anyone can add it if needed by themselves.”
“Can I have hot chocolate? I am not a huge fan of coffee.”
“Yeah sure, I’ll make it for you right now. You know, like the good host I am haha.”
"Thanks." The two stood in silence, waiting for the drink to be made in a fancy machine Cathy had. Anna, however, was bored and wanted to start a conversation again. "You know, I am not sure what happened there in the living room. With Seymour and Aragon."
Cathy sighed "I don't know either. I get it that we should have someone to lead us on the field but… but I haven't thought that those two would make an issue out of it. They were just so…. Different, I guess, from what we saw in T.O.W.E.R. HQ."
"Maybe they are hormonal? Or need some sleep? Or coffee?"
"If they need coffee, we better head there quickly before I will have to use my repulsors on them again." Cathy pointed towards her two gauntlets that were now in the form of bracelets around her wrists.
"That's what they’re called? Cool." With that, the two women grabbed everything, Cathy with the two pots of tea and coffee while Anna used her powers to take all the empty cups and her hot chocolate.
"Your powers. They are rather impressive. I never saw anything like that."
"Not you nor C.O.U.R.T.. When I got them, a few years ago, nobody knew what I could do but with time I learned. They come pretty handy when I only have 2 hands and 10 things to hold." Said Anna using her powers to juggle the cups, earning a soft smile from Cathy.
The two women entered the living room again to be met with an uncomfortable silence. All of the women were sitting on their phones but it seemed like Anne and Kat were playing something together and didn’t really notice their two teammates entering.
“Hello! We have drinks.” Announced Anna, making everyone turn their heads towards her.
The two women put everything on the coffee table next to them and everyone made their way towards, eager to drink something warm while Cathy brought milk and sugar for anyone needing them. However, a problem arose when Katherine poured herself coffee.
“You will not be drinking that, young lady.” Said Jane, taking the cup from the teenager's hands. Kat just looks at her with a betrayed look. “You are a kid, you cannot drink that. Drink tea instead. It will be healthier for you.”
“I don’t like tea.” Kat stubbornly replied, not liking what the other woman was doing but knowing better than to fight with a super-soldier.
“She can have my hot chocolate if she wants. I’ll get coffee.” Cut in Anna, before Jane could say anything and wanting to stop any new conflict from happening… again.
“I’m okay with hot chocolate. Thanks.” Mumbled the teenager, sitting on a couch with her new drink, Anna sitting on the opposite end with a nice cup of steaming coffee.
When Jane turned around, pleased with herself, Anna used her powers to swap two cups and winking at Kat, making the young woman smile at her new friend. When they turned around, they could see Anne, Cathy and Bessie covering their smiling faces with their selected mugs as they drank their chosen beverages..
“Um, Miss Parr?” Asked Kat after their quick tea/coffee/hot chocolate break. “Do you have any sewing supplies here? Preferably a needle and some red and blue thread?”
“Why are you asking? Do you need it for something?”
The girl sighed and reached towards her backpack. From there she removed something. It was her Spider-Woman costume.
“It was destroyed in a few places today while I was patrolling. I was meaning to do something about it when I got home but I’m here instead.” The teenager said with a small chuckle and turned to look at Parr.
Cathy looked as if she was hit by a bus.
“This… is your suit?” She asked, pointing towards the fabric.
“Yeah. Made it myself. Bought all the fabric, sewn it together and all that.”
“...”
“Is Parr okay?” Asked Anne when she saw that Cathy.exe stopped working. Anna just shrugged and waited for the situation to continue.
“Am I OKAY?! OF COURSE, I AM NOT! I DON’T CARE WHAT ALL OF YOU THINK BUT I AM NOT LETTING A TEENAGER GO OUT THERE TOMORROW IN A SUIT MADE OF COTTON!” Screamed Cathy.
“It’s actually polyester” Replied Katherine but stopped when Parr looked at her with murder in her eyes.
“Is polyester that good? Wouldn’t she sweat a lot in it?” Whispered Anna to Anne and the other woman just nodded, questioning the life choices of the youngest member of the team.
“Howard, you are going with me now and I do not care what you think about it.” Ordered Catherine, dragging the younger woman with her.
“Please don’t kill me! I’m too young and pretty to die!”
“You won’t be dying kid, we are going to be making you a suit. And be we, I mean you give me a design and what you need, I choose the materials and other stuff while BRIAN will make it happen. Okay?” Asked Cathy as the two of them left the room, leaving the others to themselves. A minute later Cathy came back. “Oh, and if any of you want to rest, straight ahead there are guest rooms. Just pick one. If you need me, ask BRIAN and he will lead you to me.” She said and disappeared again, not staying to hear what the other women had to say.
Anna and Anne laughed at that, Bessie shook her head, Lee and Salinas started talking quietly with each other whilst Aragon quietly sipped her tea. Only Jane looked towards the corridor where Cathy had just left, her blue and grey eyes flashing yellow for a moment before she blinked and the unusual colour disappeared.

These are just the last three fics I wrote. I appreciate the likes, believe me I do, but you have to understand. Likes do nothing for content creators. It’s the reblogs. Because that’s how you find shit on your dashboard. Through reblogs. Not likes. This isn’t twitter or tiktok or instagram. This is a website that’s run by the reblog system.
Reblogging helps content creators put their stuff out there. Why do you think so many people stopped writing fanfic and creating beautiful fanart and edits? It’s because they put in hours of work and don’t get nearly enough notes for their masterpieces. Yes we do this because we enjoy it but like...some validation won’t hurt. A boost of confidence here and there might be all someone needs to finish whatever thing they started and left.
Everyone sat in silence, not knowing what to do. Nobody expected to be here because of the literal end of the world. Especially by the hands of someone they’ve never heard of.
“Who is this Lord Henry? I’ve never heard of him and by the looks of everyone else’s faces here, it doesn’t seem like they know who that is either, Director.” Jane said from her seat, a gentle smile on her face.
“I agree with Captain ‘Been Frozen For Too Long’. I’ve never heard of this guy but like, isn’t Henry a common English name?” That question was asked by Boleyn which gained nods of agreement from Cleves, Howard and Parr.
Meutas sighed and pointed towards a screen on the wall opposite of windows and the PowerPoint started. Some numbers and calculations could be seen but nobody knew what to make out of them.
“We found an unusual amount of radiation coming from outside of our solar system a few months ago and we worked on it in secret with many cosmic agencies around the world. However, last week, we registered a large cluster of them around the London area which made us believe that something is definitely not right as none of the areas around the world have experienced anything like that. In fact, “ here Meutas brought up two maps of the world. One had many dots across the continents whilst the other map had most of them centred around England, especially London, “most of the sites where this radiation was recorded, moved towards London and have since disappeared from their previous positions.”
“We have reached out to our contact in space…” Started Lee but was quickly interrupted by Parr.
“Contact in space? I didn’t know there were any humans in space or anythingthing…”
“There is a very limited number of them but thankfully, they are unknown to most of the world, Parr. Now as I was saying, our contact in space, Captain Castillo told us something concerning - a space villain named Lord Henry, was amassing an army and took it towards Earth. Nobody in the universe acted on that as he wasn’t doing anything dangerous yet.”
It was at this point when Agent Blount picked up the explanation.
“By our calculations and from what Castillo gave us, we can assume with 98.35% accuracy that tomorrow at 2 PM, Lord Henry will start an attack on London. We do not know his motives yet but we suspect that he plans to enslave Earth and the humans there.”
“So you knew about it for how long?” Inquired Boleyn, hoping she would not get an answer that would disappoint her.
“4 days. We already contacted most of the high ranking officials like The Queen and Prime Minister who have already evacuated from the city. This is the same with many other influential figures.” Said Meutas in a calm yet strict voice. This only made Aragon angry.
“You knew about all of this for 4 days and I was never informed about it, Director? I’m your second-highest-ranking agent. I’M ABOVE IN RANK THAN THOSE THREE! ” The Spanish agent ranted, getting up from her seat and pointing towards the other agents. "All those years ago I agreed to work with you, Meutas, but I never thought something like that would be kept from me."
"Not to get political or anything but it seems like you know, common people like not very important ones, weren't informed either. I'm pretty sure I heard nothing about ' alien attack on London' on Twitter or Insta." Said Katherine and yet again, everyone looked towards her.
"The kid has a point. Nobody knows that it's happening. Any explanation as to why you would hide something that risks the lives of millions of people, Director. " Said Anne, her hands slowly turning into a lime colour. Jane gulped visibly seeing that.
“We are making sure that there is no unnecessary panic…”
“CUT THE CRAP MEUTAS! THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE IN THIS CITY THAT COULD GET INJURED OR DIE TOMORROW” Anne Boleyn was angry now. Her skin was now of an emerald colour. If someone didn’t do something soon, she could transform into Hulk. Thankfully, Parr was already working on that.
She stood up from her chair and went behind Boleyn, putting her hand on the other woman’s shoulder and looking towards Meutas.
“I don’t think you can give any excuses for your behaviour, Director. Dr Boleyn here is right - people might die tomorrow because neither you nor the government did anything about it. Let’s settle on this deal,” The young woman said as she took out her phone and turned the screen towards the rest of the room. “Here I have a message addressed to my PR team about how the Director of T.O.W.E.R. has just informed me that there is an upcoming attack on the capital and one of the most important cities in the world but for some strange reason nobody seemed to think that they should’ve informed the public. So you will either do it yourself, or I will click send and my team will make sure that the world knows what’s happening.”
“You can’t do that, Parr. This is serious and sensitive information that cannot get out to the public.” Meutas got up from her seat and eyed the younger woman.
“You’re wrong Director, she can do that. You never asked us to not reveal the information we learned here nor gave us any document to sign thus we would not be breaking any agreements by bringing this information up to the public.” Anna smirked with a raised eyebrow. Anne started turning back to her normal skin colour seeing how the situation was turning out.
The Director of the T.O.W.E.R. looked towards all the superwomen in the room and sighed, seeing only Seymour not glaring nor looking smugly at her. Parr held her phone, waiting for an answer, both Aragon and Boleyn looked frustrated, Cleves was watching it all with a smirk and Howard was observing everything with a small frown on her young face.
“Very well... I will contact the government and inform them that it will be best that most of London will be evacuated. However, I cannot let any of you go back to your homes tonight as we don’t want you split up in case of an attack. So any family you have will have to move out without you for the time being.” Meutas said and got mostly nods as a response, most of the women there didn’t have family in London thus would not have to do anything about it and staying together would allow them for better reaction time should the attacks start earlier.
“Um… sorry but I told my mum that I would be back tonight sooo… I think you will have to ask for her permission for me to be her, Director.” Said Katherine timidly.
“I don’t think you should ask your mother for permission to save the world kid.” Chuckled Lee, showing for the first time today that she had a sense of humour.
“It’s the law for her to give me permission.”
“What? How old are you?” Asked Meutas, not liking how this was going.
“...” Katherine looked around the room with lips pulled tight “... 15 but 16 in 2 months!” She said with an excited smile.
Everyone looked shocked and Aragon was the first one to break the uncomfortable silence.
“MEUTAS WHY DID YOU BRING A LITERAL CHILD INTO THIS?!” She exclaimed and Katherine stepped back as if Agent Aragon would do something to her.
“I didn’t know! She never told me her age! Nor her real name for that matter!” The Director looked towards the teenager whilst saying that and Katherine visibly gulped.
“Ha… my name you say… hehe, so it is Katherine but Howard is my father’s surname. I go by my mother’s name Culpeper in real life. So Katherine Culpeper I guess.” She said, laughing weekly at that.
“Why did you lie to us then? About your name?” Salinas asked, looking at the kid in front of her with a hard gaze.
“I panicked! I didn’t know if I should give my real name or something fake so I went in the middle? Also, it is still kind of my name, just not legally I guess.”
“Okay, I know that we have a kid among us but could we please go over a plan for tomorrow’s battle please?” Captain Jane Seymour spoke for the first time. Everyone looked towards each other but they took their seats nonetheless, grumbling about a teenager on the team while Anna gave Katherine thumbs up and a smirk.
Dr Anne Boleyn walked through the narrow corridors of the T.O.W.E.R. by herself that Friday afternoon. The director Meutas had phoned her earlier that day, asking her to meet with her as soon as possible. Fortunately for Meutas, Anne was free for the next few days and all calm so no risk of becoming Hulk during a meeting. The director didn’t specify what the meeting was about but Anne suspected it had something to do with her powers and how she accidentally became Hulk after she got angry during her Twitch stream. Anne, as a semi-professional gamer, said to herself that it wasn’t her fault that she had the misfortune of playing with one of those stupid kids. The only positive thing from that is that she gained 1.5 million new subs, after all, who wouldn’t want to watch a literal superhero play games and then change form when angry?
Anne had now reached the meeting room after asking for directions from one of the agents that she had passed on her way there. The room was located at one of the top floors of the T.O.W.E.R. headquarters, allowing a great view of most of London during the meetings. Boleyn didn’t bother to knock and just opened the door to the room.
Inside there were already 4 people. Anne, of course, recognised 3 of them - one of them being Director of T.O.W.E.R as expected, Joan Meutas. Next to her sat the darling of the United Kingdom and World War II hero, Captain Seymour. Then there was Catherine Parr, the owner of Parr Industries (created by her grandfather William Parr and is the greatest tech company in Europe when her father Thomas Parr became the owner) who was also the one and only, Iron Woman. Next to her sat the last woman, who was wearing the black uniform of T.O.W.E.R. with gold details showing that she was a high ranking agent.
“Good afternoon, Dr Boleyn. I’m glad you could join us.” Stood up Director Meutas as she made her way to Anne, shaking her hand in greeting when they met halfway through the room. “Allow me to introduce you to the others. They are; Captain Jane Seymour, Miss Catherine Parr aka Iron Woman and Agent Catalina de Aragon.” she pointed at each woman as she introduced them. “We’re just waiting for 2 more people to join with my 3 agents. They should be here soon.”
“I hope they will be here soon, Director. Not all of us can sit around all afternoon without knowing why they’re here.” Said Parr, getting up from her chair, stretching and making her way towards Boleyn. “People just call me Catherine or Parr, none of that Miss business.”
“Well, Parr, most people don’t bother with Dr Boleyn so please call me ‘Your Highness' .” The woman said with a wink.
“That will be a problem as you are rather short.” Said someone from behind Parr and it turned out to be Agent Aragon. Parr just chuckled and made her way back to her seat while Seymour shouted “ Catalina! ” from where she was seated.
“And here I thought that we would be friends but agent Aragon here has decided that’s not the case. I hope I won’t have to see you that much in the near future… Catalina… ” Smirked Anne, clearly enjoying annoying the other woman.
“It’s Agent Aragon for you, Boleyn.” replied Aragon, stepping closer towards Anne, enjoying being taller than the woman before her.
Meutas seeing that the situation could get out of hand rather quickly decided to intervene.
“I think it would be better if all of us would sit down. I got a message from Agent Salinas that they will be here soon with the other two. When they get here, I will explain why we are all here. It will be easier that way.”
“Maria is helping you with this? Huh, that’s why I hadn’t seen her earlier today.” Mused Aragon, taking a seat back at the table.
“Yes, Agent Salinas along with Agents Lee and Blount were tasked with helping us in this situation,” Joan said, taking a sip of water, mentally thanking herself that at least only two women were at odds with each other and not all 4 of them in this room. That would be a disaster.
5 women sat in silence for 5 minutes, waiting for the others to arrive and not knowing each other well enough to make small talk. Parr, Boleyn and Aragon were on their phones while Seymour looked through the windows at the side of the room, enjoying the view of London and the sun entering the room.
The not-so-comfortable silence was broken by the sound of the door opening. Everyone turned their heads towards the newcomers.
First came in 3 women in T.O.W.E.R. uniforms, similar to the one that Aragon had but instead of gold details, they had silver details, Anne noted. The one that walked in first was of a similar age to Aragon while the other two were younger but not by much. Next walked in a dark-skinned, small woman dressed in red and black with short hair. She walked with a confidence that Anne liked. She recognised the red woman as Anna Von Kleves, the Scarlet Witch from Germany. Rather powerful but nobody knew how powerful. It was the last person that caught her attention the most.
A young woman (maybe even a teenager?) with light brown skin, brown hair that had pink ends. She didn’t walk as confidently as Scarlet Witch but more carefully as if trying to sense the danger. She didn’t remind Anne of anyone she saw on the internet or TV so it could be anyone.
Meutas introduced them all yet again, confirming to Anne the identity of the red woman as Kleves and the kid as Katherine Howard… Boleyn heard that surname before but knowing how names like that were common, she just accepted that and waited for the Director of T.O.W.E.R. to say more about her during the meeting.
As they sat down, Meutas stood up, gaining all the attendees’ attention.
“Thank you everyone for being here. I want to say that normally I would try to do something like this, as in all of you meeting for the first time, in a more… orderly manner however, the time we have left doesn’t allow us to do it.”
“Um, sorry but what do you mean ‘ time we have left ’?” Everyone turned towards Katherine and the young woman blushed, not expecting that. “I mean, it’s not like the world is ending, right?”
“I was getting into that but you are wrong, Miss Howard. The world is ending and you six, are the only people who can stop it.” Meutas sighed. Every single person looked at her in shock, clearly not expecting those words.
“Excuse me but can you repeat that? The world is ending? I mean, there is global warming killing our planet but I don’t think we can help with that.” Anne joked and Anna chuckled from the other side of the table while Katherine just smirked.
“The world is in danger of an invasion that will start tomorrow in London at 2pm according to our calculations. An invasion led by a man named Lord Henry.”
Agents Salinas, Blount and Lee arrived with young Spider-Woman at a small house on the outskirts of London, far away from the busy city centre. Agent Salinas knew where they were going quite well as she didn’t look around for signs at all and she didn’t require the help of a GPS. The house they stopped after a 25-minute drive was your usual house, nothing special about it. The two agents at the front looked at each other and somehow understood what the other was thinking as they both turned around to face the two people in the back.
“We should be back in 5 minutes at most. Please don’t break the van.” Begged Salinas, already opening the door.
“Blount, you’re in charge. Make sure the kid doesn’t do anything stupid or tries to run away.” Added Lee coldly,not sparing a glance as she left the van as fast as possible. Blount and Katherine both gulped at her tone.
The two agents made their way towards the front door of the house, not looking behind them. Their steps were synchronised, both walking with a purpose. They walked past a well-kept garden and stopped before the front door. Lee stepped forward and knocked twice and stepped back. The pair waited for a few seconds until the door was finally opened.
In the doorway stood a young, black woman. She was rather short, at most 5 feet. She had short, black hair with red highlights. She wore a red jacket with black fur trimmings at the front. She wasn’t really surprised to see the two agents but she wasn’t happy either.
“Ah, if it isn’t Meutas’ favourite agents. What does she want from me this time?” The woman asked rhetorically with a slight German accent, not caring about their answers if they had any. “You know what? I don’t really care. Unless the world is ending or there’s some danger in northern Scotland that could destroy the construction of my future house, I ain’t signing up for it.”
The woman made a move to close the door, only for Salinas to stop it with her foot.
“Anna Von Kleve, London and the entire world are in danger and the Director asked us to bring you to headquarters to discuss it.” Said Salinas, staring intently into the brown eyes before her.
“Well? Why didn’t you say that at the start? Never mind, I’ll meet her tomorrow morning, I need to do some things around the house first before helping to save the entire planet. You know, plants and things like that.” Anna tried to close the door again but she didn’t realise that the foot was still there as the dull thud against Agent Salinas’ foot made her roll her eyes.
“The world is ending tomorrow. We have less than 24 hours to assemble the whole team so there is no time to talk with the Director in the morning.” Grumbled Lee angrily, slowly becoming frustrated with each passing second of the conversation.
“Whoa… I mean, it seems like plants can wait I guess. Just allow me to grab my 'I think we have an emergency and I have to leave now' bag. Gimme a minute.” Anna shouted as she ran inside the house, not bothering to close her door. She had indeed come back after a minute exactly and after making sure that the house was locked, the group made their way towards the minivan.
“Okay, I won’t lie, I was expecting something cooler than a minivan.” Mocked Anna as she saw the plain vehicle.
“We have a child on board and it was the only car that we are allowed to have people under 18 on.” Replied Salinas.
“Um… Did you just say a child ? I thought that superhero stuff was for like older people? Unless we’re talking about power rangers. Those groups are always filled with teenagers.”
“We have a surprising shortage of people who can help to save the world and that teenager inside, is one of the six people that the Director thinks that can help do that.” Agent Lee retorted impatiently, not really caring that she was getting angry at one of the most dangerous individuals on the entire planet.
Anna smirked and opened the back door only to be met with-
“JUST DRIVEEEEEEEEEEEE STAY AHEAD STAY AHEAD AND STAY ALIVE
THE WEATHER MAY BE STORMY BUT THE ROAD IS STILL BEFORE ME
SO PEDAL TO THE METAL AND DRIVEEEEE,” was sung loudly by a young hero and young agent who had somehow figured out how to put the music on in the van.
Salinas stood there, already regretting her life choices from the last few years.
“We told you to not do anything stupid and we came here to all of this?” Accused Lee, still tense after her conversation with Anna.
“Well, 1) you’re not my mum to tell me what to do and what not. 2) It’s not stupid and 3) Bessie told me it would be fine and we were bored.” Katherine countered, grinning smugly and leaning back whilst raising her eyebrow in a challenge.
Before Lee could do anything she would regret, she was pushed aside by a laughing Anna.
“I like you kid.” She said, her laughter dying down to giggles. She sat down in the seat next to Katherine, pushing the girl into the middle and put out her hand in front of her. “I’m Anna Von Kleve, the Scarlet Witch but my friends call me Anna.”
The young hero stared at her with wide eyes, awstricken before shaking her hand “I’m such a huge fan! I still can’t believe what you did back in Germany and here in the UK against the C.O.U.R.T! All of that was incredible, so cool! Oh, and I’m Katherine. Katherine Howard.”
“I think you mean Katherine Howard, the Spider-Woman, silly.” Quipped Blount from where she was sitting on the other side of Katherine. The young girl just blushed out of embarrassment.
“Really? Well then, I have to say that I’m also a huge fan of you, Katherine. The things you do… all the running and jumping. Only true heroes can do that.” Laughed the older woman and the three people at the back started talking and joking with each other, lost in their own little bubble.
Salinas and Lee looked at each other, smirking lightly knowing that at least now, they didn’t have to pay attention to the three kids at the back.
Katherine Howard was swinging her way through the busy streets of London, looking for any sign of trouble in her Spider-Woman suit. She finished school not even an hour ago and since it was Friday, she decided to do some patrolling before she would have to go home to her mum, before the older woman came back from work.
Katherine did her usual route of going through all of the major streets of the city centre, making sure to look out for any suspicious activities in many of the small alleys. Thankfully, today was one of the calm days (which was honestly a surprise since there was always someone doing something in London) which allowed Katherine, or Spider-Woman, to relax and finish her patrol earlier than she expected. She only had to remind a few men to stop harassing women or they would have to deal with her. Scared, they quickly apologised to the women whom they were making uncomfortable just mere moments ago.
The young hero made her way across the roofs of London towards a nearby park where she knew she could quickly and quietly change from her suit before making her way home. She stepped out of bushes (not suspicious at all) and made her way out of the park. Everyone could see a young girl with light tan skin, long brown wavy hair with pink endings. She was 5 feet 4 and had brown eyes, shining with youthful spark only a 15-year-old like her could manage.
She walked confidently through the streets of London, listening to her favourite musicals, humming to herself as she made her way towards a nearby Starbucks. Her patrols could be extremely exhausting so Katherine made a habit of picking up a coffee for herself after each one. Of course, her mother didn’t know she was a young teenager addicted to coffee and who spent almost half of her money on cups of caffeine but what she didn’t know, wouldn’t harm her.
Young Katherine bought a simple latte with way too much added sugar and left the shop heading straight to her house, making sure she walked her usual route which was the safest possible route and meant little chance of her meeting someone who could hurt her in any way as it would, of course, be rather difficult to explain to the police how a “meek” 15-year-old could beat up a grown man without a scratch on herself. Those were a few of the perks and curses of her superpowers.
As she approached the last big road before her house, Katherine felt her spider-senses acting up as if she was in danger. She tensed and prepared for any danger nearby, slowing her pace to provide her with more time to react.
She looked around and saw nothing suspicious. An eldery woman was walking towards her with a small bag of groceries, a black mini-van parked on her side of the street and a group of kids riding their bicycles further along the road. Still somewhat cautious, she walked past the minivan and the elderly woman moved past her. Katherine visibly let out a sigh of relief.
At least until she was grabbed by said old woman from the behind and pulled closer.
“Ma’am, you’re very strong for an old woman,” Katherine stated without thinking.
“Listen here, girly. You will either go into that van or something will happen to you.” Said the woman in what definitely isn’t an elderly voice, completely ignoring what the teenager said. Katherine felt a gun-shaped object that had a high possibility of being an actual gun, being thrust against her spine and she audibly gulped.
“I guess I won’t like the ‘something will happen to you’ option, right?” She asked, wanting to be sure. After all, it seemed like she was getting kidnapped so she wanted to know her options.
“Get in the car. Now.” Replied the unnamed woman, rather impatiently in Katherine’s opinion.
The younger girl quickly calculated her options. She could A) scream and fight B) Scream and don’t fight C) Just fight D) go 110% Spider-Woman on the other woman E) go into the car and tempt her fate. Unfortunately for her, option E) seemed like the only safe-ish and identity keeping option at the time. The worst that could happen was that she could end up in pieces in the Thames. Nothing too terrible. At all. She reluctantly made her way towards the vehicle , the it-might-be-a-gun still against her. She opened the back door and was thrown inside by the woman behind her with the doors slamming shut behind her.
Katherine looked around and noticed a woman in the driver’s seat, another at the back with her and the elderly-but-not-really woman entered the car and sat in the front passenger seat. Once she closed the door, all women turned towards the only teenager there.
“Are you kidnapping me for money or to sell me for my body parts? Honestly, my organs are probably not worth that much and my mum might not pay any ransom for me, you know? But honestly, tell me what you’re doing with me cause I’m kinda curious and scared at the same time. Pretty please?” Asked Howard, biting her lower lip as her nervous habit. The other three women blinked at her slowly, not knowing what to make of that. The driver was the first one to break the silence.
“We won’t try to sell you for anything. My name is Agent De Salinas. Next to me is Agent Lee and at the back with you is Agent Blount. We're from the T.O.W.E.R.." said the driver a.k.a. Agent De Salinas.
"We are here to take you to the Headquarters to meet Director Meutas." Stated Agent Blount with a small smile. Katherine decided that she liked her. At least she wasn't pointing gun-shaped objects at her, unlike some people.
"I don't really know why the Director of this so-called T.O.W.E.R. thing would want anything to do with me. I'm just a normal teenager who does nothing against the law… at least I think I don't do anything against the law." Katherine mumbled, mostly to herself but loudly enough that others heard her.
"We know that you're the Spider-Woman." Interjected the elderly woman/ Agent Lee sharply. Well, now she didn't look like an old woman as she took off her disguise. She was probably like 30 according to Katherine. 35 at most. Or she just used a lot of moisturiser from a young age and looked that well.
"Whaaaaaaaaat? Noooooooo, I'm not Spider-Woman. I'm just a kid, a teenager. I saw Spider-Woman and she's nothing like me." Disagreed Howard, not wanting to give up her probably-not-so-secret secret identity.
"You introduced yourself as Katherine Howard to Director Meutas a few weeks ago when she caught you as Spider-Woman. We know it's you." Explained Blount, smirking next to Katherine, clearly enjoying the situation. "We're going to the Headquarters where you will meet her again as she needs your assistance. Well, you and a few others."
"Of course we have to pick up someone else first before we go there so be a little patient kid," Lee informed, looking through the window as the minivan moved from its place, making its way through the busy streets of London. It was rather silent until-
"I think I should call my mum and let her know that I'm getting kidnapped by three government agents ‘cause otherwise she’ll get worried that I'm not back for dinner."
The headquarters of T.O.W.E.R. was in complete chaos. Director Joan Meutas just received information about a villain named Henry who was planning to invade London and from there, the entire planet and later the universe. She wasn’t really pleased about that turn of events as she was hoping for a few quiet months where she could figure out what to do with the sudden increase of superheroes who were working individually.
It was okay at the start with Catherine Parr, the so-called Iron Woman who created her own suit of armour to fight off bad guys. Miss Parr made her fortune after taking over Parr Industries, one of the best technology companies in the world but she truly became famous after writing a series of novels about women empowerment. Those two facts made her becoming Iron Woman an even more popular decision for the public, especially women part of the public. But of course, it couldn’t end on that.
Next came Catalina de Aragon, infamous Spanish Black Widow - one of the best spies in the world (thankfully Joan managed to recruit her into T.O.W.E.R. before someone else could, like those Americans) who somehow managed to write and publish her own cookbook “Black Widow in the Kitchen - all the Secrets of Spanish Cuisine” shortly after she started working for Director Meutas. After that, it only got worse with the heroes of London. In just 6 months, Captain Seymour, a WWII hero, was found in a crashed ship where she was frozen for 70 years while the whole world thought that she was long dead. The young (or rather old) woman decided to start a comedian career which somehow consisted of mostly puns. This weird turn of events caused her to gain huge popularity and the hashtag “SeeMorePuns” became trending on social media for 2 months after her debut. Next came Dr Anne Boleyn who somehow could now change into a huge green monster when made angry -Joan still has no idea how that happened and the scientist didn’t want to share more details than necessary about her new condition.
Then, both Scarlet Witch and Spider-Woman appeared as the last superheroes. Scarlet Witch was none other than Anna von Kleve, a young woman from Germany who was able to manipulate the world around her after she was being experimented on by C.O.U.R.T. who wanted to dominate the world but fortunately for everyone, Anna decided to fight against them. After that, she won a lawsuit against the German nation which was responsible for the creation of C.O.U.R.T. and she used the large amount of money that she won, to start building a real-life recreation of Hogwarts castle because according to her “If I’m a witch, I need a cool castle” and now that she had lots of money, she could allow herself to do that without caring about costs. Spider-Woman was the identity of Katherine Howard (honestly, when Joan heard that her name was some variation of Catherine, she slammed her head loudly into her desk and asked herself what she did to have a team where half of them share a similar name). Young Katherine Howard was bitten by a spider and now she was fighting her way through the streets of London where she was making sure that no small or big crime could take place. There was nothing Joan knew about the young hero; she didn’t even know how young she was, the girl could be 18 or 19 years old for all she knew.
With the recent news of Henry's plans for the invasion, Joan knew that she would have to recruit those women to fight for their world. She had an easy job of getting Aragon on the team, after all, Joan was still her boss. Captain Seymour was next as she was currently getting back to herself in one of the T.O.W.E.R. facilities just an hour away from London. The contact with both Dr Boleyn and Iron Woman was fine, both agreeing to the meeting with Joan before they could agree to anything. The last two heroes were harder to track and contact. Joan knew next to nothing about Howard/Spider-Woman who didn’t appear in any official documents she had access to and Cleves didn’t like to have anything to do with the government agencies after the C.O.U.R.T. episode. This was why, Joan had her three best agents (Agent Margaret “Maggie” Lee, Agent Elizabeth “Bessie” Blount and Agent Maria de Salinas) looking for the two of them and Joan was hoping they would find the two women soon enough as their time was slowly running out if her team’s calculations were correct - the portals were prepared and would be fully open in a day.
Without a team of superheroes, London would not stand a chance.
And neither would the world.
