Bio: (tw: imprisonment, death, corpses)
In 1536 the second wife of Henry VIII was found guilty of adultery and treason, her marriage to the King of England was declared null and void, and many a courtier associated with her, or loyal to her were found guilty of similar offenses and put to death.
Imprisoned in the Tower of London, a twenty-five-year-old human named Catherine Beckett watched from a slit in the wall of her cell as both her husband and her brother were put to death for aiding in treasonous attempts against the King. The blonde watched as the two men she loved most in the world, second only to her father, lost their heads mere yards from her.
In a bid to save himself and the rest of the Beckett family, Catherine’s father had provided false proof against her, as well as her brother and her husband. Catherine had always been his favourite child, and she had adored her father more than anyone in the world, loyal to a fault.
Half-starved after months in the tower, delirious from grief and fear, she felt she might lose it entirely. And yet it did not. When a guard took pity on the once pretty and popular courtier and threw her a bone with some meat left over on it, Catherine kept that bone. She stripped it of its meat and using the stone walls oh her cell to whittle it into a weapon. There was no plan really, just a determined resolution to fight as hard and conflict as much pain as possible on those that would drag her to the chopping block.
Through some sick twist of fate, Catherine’s father felt compelled to say a final goodbye to his favourite daughter. In spite of it all, the blonde embraced her father, and the pair sobbed together. She forgave him when he apologised and said her goodbyes as he did, staring into his tired guilt-ridden eyes as she plunged the bone shiv between his rib cage.
What followed next was a chaotic attempt to escape a tower guarded by hundreds of soldiers. Catherine was half starved, half insane from despair and rage, and only equipped with one small lamb bone. She did not make it far, only killing one guard and wounding one other before she was caught. She never made it to the block, instead meeting the cold end of a soldier’s sword just one month before she turned 26.
So busy were the guards during this time, that no time was spared to ensure that Catherine was in fact dead. She was thrown amongst the corpses of other prisoners who had either met the axe or had died due to injuries sustained on the rack. Even dying, Catherine kept fighting; she gripped onto the calves, hands, heads of the deceased and tried to drag herself out of the pile waiting for burial. Minutes from death, Catherine felt cold, stone arms wrap around her, lifting her and carrying her away. Through bleary eyes, she looked up into the kind and loving face of a vampire Æðelric “Elric” Francia.
“What would you do with immortality?” the strange man asked, cradling her limp body, supporting the weight of her head as the life slipped slowly away from her.
“Everything” Catherine swore, through a mouthful of blood.
The correct answer given, Elric drained his new daughter of what little human blood she still retained and fed her his own. Baptised in soil and blood, Catherine awoke beneath the earth next to her sire and together, they clawed their way to the new night.
Catherine – since renamed Kitty – was a fast student of Elric’s. She adapted quickly to her new life, not taking a moment for granted, wasting no time quibbling over her new species or worrying over the status of her soul. Kitty embraced vampirism under Elric’s tutelage and in return she kept her promise. She fell in love, several times, she fought in wars, she picked up every hobby that tickled her fancy and dropped it again when she grew bored. She threw herself into social campaigns that moved her, travelled to countries just to try the cuisine, even presented as a man for almost a decade just because she was curious to see the difference in the gender experience.
Despite her advanced age, Kitty presents as a very wide-eyed youthful creature. She has a thirst for life and is easily over excited. In the same way, she is also very prone to temper tantrums and bouts of sadness. Although she has spent time away from her sire over the years, taking time out to pursue whatever fancy took her interest, Kitty prefers to reside with Elric, presenting as a typical daddy’s girl.
