more boards!
some more boards from the dance sequence! the idea is for Laura to start to lose her balance, and grow weaker while Carmilla drags her around and takes the lead towards the end.
[WIP] Sometimes, I forgot I can draw normal Carmilla
Lucy Westenra. What torment she endured.
Let’s go lesbians I survived finals week….
Carmilla book cover :-) prints in my shop, link in pinned post!
Le Fanu’s Carmilla but Laura gained self-awareness
Carmilla, feverishly kissing and caressing Laura : Darling, I live in you, and you would die for me. I love you so…
Laura :
Laura : yeah that was v gay and all, but the word “Lesbian” hadn’t been used for that kind of meaning yet.
Carmilla :
Laura : This is early 19th century, Carmilla. Good luck trying to hit on me with 0.0001% success rate. Imma think this is a sisterly affection.
i w a s hoping I'd get the next episode of Carmilla done in time for Halloween- but the real horror has been the learning curve of drawing a carriage crash and multiple crowds of people...
So take this preview from next episode instead <3
Messy sketches I did some time ago
(+Early Carmilla’s monster design)
It’s Just a Prank, Laura.
my take on Catmilla.
Does this count as Halloween Special?
I truly wonder what Bram Stoker was thinking when he read Carmilla and decided to take it as one of his inspiration for Dracula.
Mina Harker, suffering the worst night of her life.

the thing you need to understand about carmilla countess karnstein is that she is a loser. she's absolutely drowning in blood bitches but she has to be because she is an immortal vampire noble who gets by on flirting her way into continual couch surfing. she has no job no house no car and no money. she sleeps all the way through the morning. she hears people singing and it pisses her off so bad that she needs her bestiecrush to hold her hand until she calms down. she's violently classist and loves to use the "wait until I tell my rich dad about this" line but, crucially, her rich dad is dead as fuck and has been for all living memory. she's a serial monogamist and she's fucking coasting on pretty privilege.
"One night, instead of the voice I was accustomed to hear in the dark, I heard one, sweet and tender, and at the same time terrible, which said, 'Your mother warns you to beware of the assassin.' At the same time a light unexpectedly sprang up, and I saw Carmilla, standing, near the foot of my bed, in her white night-dress, bathed, from her chin to her feet, in one great stain of blood." - Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, Carmilla (1872)
Halloween approaches. 🦇 So I listened to Bloody FM's "Re: Carmilla" (again). ❤️😌🩸 And I continue to draw vampires. ✍️
Dracula (1931)
Mina Harker is stronger than me cause if I went through what she went through on September 22nd I would have hit Dracula with a train
I've seen people erroneously say that Mina was feeling that it was scandalous that her and Jonathan were walking arm in arm in Piccadilly, because she said "it felt terribly improper". That is not the case, however. Married couples (and engaged ones) where expected to walk arm in arm in the 19th century. It was, in fact, seen as a sign of civility.
Mina feels that it is improper because she's been taught that the proper etiquette is that the woman must hold the man's arm. But now it was Jonathan holding Mina's arm.
She says that this was something Mina and Jonathan used to do in the past (walking together while Jonathan was holding her arm.) Evidently, before she taught. This is their natural dynamic.
This is why Mina feels that it is ironic that she used to teach the opposite thing to girls. Because she's engaging in behavior she used to condemn.
The important thing is, despite her moment of learned inner conflict, Mina decides to disregard etiquette and public opinion. Her priorities are clear.
CANARY IN A COAL MINE- A LUCY WESTENRA ANIMATIC
Finally finished this! :D Hope you all enjoy!
