I haven't checked tumblr since December 31st. TBH I haven't really missed it and I think I may extend my break from it.
This is just a check in for my followers to let them know I won't be active for the foreseeable future and it's not because I'm dead or missing, this is a deliberate choice.

Her hands come away sticky. Red. Simply by giving her son life she has already killed him. He is doomed from the beginning. Her love will not save him from suffering. Because the thing cradled in her arms is not a baby, it is a sacrifice: born amongst the other bleating animals whose blood will one day be spilled in the name of what demands it. the night is silent with anticipation. There’s a dark side to Italy’s often ludicrous attitude towards culinary purity. In 2019, the archbishop of Bologna, Matteo Zuppi, suggested adding some pork-free “welcome tortellini” to the menu at the city’s San Petronio feast. It was intended as a gesture of inclusion, inviting Muslim citizens to participate in the celebrations of the city’s patron saint. Far-right League party leader Matteo Salvini wasn’t on board. “They’re trying to erase our history, our culture,” he said.
When Grandi intervened to clarify that, until the late 19th century, tortellini filling didn’t contain pork, the president of Bologna’s tortellini consortium (a real job title) confirmed that Grandi was right. In the oldest recipes, tortellini filling is made from poultry. “This is the reason why I do what I do,” Grandi says. “To show that what we hail as tradition isn’t, in fact, tradition.”

Here's hoping they either sue the school for unlawful expulsion and violation of the 1st amendment, and/or every other parent who's kid is in that school post the exact same image on social media so they force the school to expel all the kids.
Though it can seem daunting, a range of noted thinkers from Karl Marx to Ice T agree that in such scenarios it is necessary to hold your friend to account for their misdeeds. Both for their own sake and for society writ large.
Sometimes when people on the Internet are like "ADULTS CAN NEVER INTERACT WITH MINORS IT'S CREEPY" I remember how, at 12, back in 1997, I was on the Witchvox forums with people ranging from me to people in at least their 50s, and no one there was ever a creep to me, no one ever made me feel uncomfortable or asked for my personal info, and when I finally broke down after a particularly brutal day of bullying at school and posted about it they were the first adults I'd ever met in my entire life who told me the bullies were the problem and it was okay to be angry about it.
Kids need to interact with adults who will listen to them.
I was practically raised by sixty year old scientists I'd never met on random science forums. I'd show up and talk about evolution with them for hours. When I got accepted into university, they helped me go through how to find a place to live and the basics of living alone (my family didn't want me to go to uni so didn't help with any of this, figuring that if I couldn't find accommodation I'd have to stay home). You're supposed to have friends outside your age group; I'd argue that it's psychologically unhealthy not to. And no, your parents and grandparents don't count.
It takes a village to raise a child. Not a village of other 6 year olds.
Yeah. In particular, note that the goal here is not to have one person you trust intensely and you have no way of sanity-checking them; the goal is to have a handful of people, who are independent of each other, so that if one of them is making you uncomfortable you can tell someone else "hey this person I know is doing a thing which sorta creeps me out" and get feedback.
In an ideal world, you could rely on your parents to perform that function. We're not in an ideal world.
This is another one of those issues that has become a major problem thanks to end stage capitalism. A world without third spaces for kids to meet strangers organically while being half monitored by other adults, where parents don't have time to teach their kids the difference between safe behavior and predatory behavior, where every online interaction is monetized and so kids don't have access to the kind of benign chaos we did when we were young. It's all stuff that works together to keep us from anything like community and instead keeps us too busy working and producing to live.
Humans, especially young humans, NEED to be exposed to diverse groups. And that includes adults at varying stages of life. Anything else is damaging to us. We're extremely social animals.

To say the Panama Papers accomplished nothing is an insult to Daphne Galizia’s memory. Her work, and the work of the hundreds of other journalists who contributed to the Papers, changed the world.
Disinformation like this is designed to discourage you, to make you feel you’re powerless against the monsters of the world. They want you to feel that way, because they are terrified of your power to make change.
