as someone who works in the paint department of a hardware store i just wanna say that you are absolutely allowed (and ENCOURAGED!) to grab as many cards off the rack as you want so long as you don’t take more than one or two of each colour (they are free for customers but the store only gets so many at a time so please don’t just walk off with our ENTIRE supply of SW 7587 Antique Red cards)

Hold up. How is it an "excuse"? Cops do enough actually shitty and/or terrible things to be held accountable for - they don't need to be blamed for just doing their job. Traffic laws demand the turn blinker be turned on every time, regardless of the audience, so if one breaks the rule, then the cop has not an "excuse" but a valid reason. If you don't think it's fair to be penalized for this, then your beef is with the traffic law itself, not the cop charged with upkeeping the letter of the law. I seriously feel like this sort of perspective on the interaction devalues the justified outrage at all the illegal police actions.
