Intro!

Redid my intro post :) All that's significantly different is the first paragraph.

Hey! We are a system collectively referred to as Cayon. I am Wrenley, the alter who primarily runs this blog. Most (if not all) posts here are done by me. If you want to hear more about our system you can go to our side blog, @cayonofconfusion, where we are currently working on a post introducing anyone else who wants to participate on that account.

I primarily post my drawings, most of which are birds, but I also like drawing snails, butterflies, and moths. If there's a specific animal you'd like to me draw, I love requests! Please send requests! My only restrictions are I do not do mammals or reptiles (this may be updated to include more in the future). I reserve the right to not do a request if I do not believe I can pull it off.

Do not use my art without credit, remove my signature, or post it to other sites (exception being using it as a pfp). Requests may not be completed immediately, it depends on how far I am on other projects, how much free time I have, and how I'm feeling that day. I try to get them done quickly. I

I have chronic migraines, so if I am inactive, posting a lot of content that is not drawings, or my drawings are of lower quality than normal, that is probably why.

Dystopian world where civilians are unaware of the existance of animals

MC wakes up with no memories in a strange village with uncanny valley residents

Nightmare realm where the ground itself is alive, MC needs to try to survive

Trying to get back into writing, these are the ideas that have been forming for the past several months:

-Dystopian world where civilians are unaware of the existance of animals. Meat is simply known as "protein" and they live in a highly sanitized environment where they are not allowed outside (too much risk of encountering bugs, they get vitamin D supplements instead). MC would find a strange beast that walks on all fours, is covered in hair, and has five limbs, which leads them to question everything they've been told. Genre would be dystopian, obviously, and horror, in the form of "describing an animal to someone who's never seen one", which can get very disturbing very quick. Themes of learning to accept things you don't understand and finding comfort in lies.

-MC wakes up with no memories in a strange village with uncanny valley residents. They don't even know their own name. One of said residents tells them to not trust anyone if they want to survive, and to ignore their hypocrisy. The stranger offers to let them live with him, and perhaps naively, they agree. The denizens of the town are a variety of species, based off of the fae and similar myths. MC would have to learn how to navigate this odd world with rules so unintuitive to what they think they know, all while figuring out who they are. Fantasy with bits of horror. Themes of discovering who you are and learning who you should trust.

-Nightmare realm where the ground itself is alive, MC needs to try to survive. Staying in what appears to be an abandoned laundromat, they write in their journal, detailing the horrors they encounter, which includes animals with too many limbs, plants that want to fuse to their skin, and fungi with a personal vendetta against them. Less story driven and more worldbuilding focused, though there would still be some amount of story. Dark fantasy and horror. Takes place in the same universe as the second option, so they would share elements.

Might make a separate blog dedicated to my writing, haven't decided yet. Let me know if you'd be interested in that.

The 13th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th August 2026.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

Not to encourage a scam kickstarter or anything but I think that tumblr's Clown Husbandry meme (and related offshoots like Knight and Wizard Husbandry) would be a great basis for a cozy game with some horror elements.

Like, you the player have inherited your semi-estranged Grandmother's Clown Ranch via her will. Disillusioned with the corporate drone lifestyle you take a trip out to see the place, and while it's definitely seen better days and has fallen into such disrepair that there aren't even many clowns left there, you smell opportunity and decide to revitalize the ranch and live the Clown Husbandry Life!

Your first clown is a Rodeo Clown inherited from your Grandma, the only clown she had left, and the ranch starts out with some obvious farming game themes borrowed from the likes of Stardew Valley and Story of Seasons. But as you progress you can customize the ranch depending on what kinds of clown you favor, and the actual mechanics have more theme park and zoo sim than farming elements.

Build enrichment for the clowns and attractions for the humans to come and socialize with them. Adopt your clowns out to good homes for humble profits, or make a mint by selling them for higher profit to more questionable buyers. Train your clowns to help increase the ranch's income via shows, parties, and festivals, or hone their skills as hunters and thieves and send them to loot the nearby city.

Different clowns have different inclinations and abilities, and you can breed them for more specialized traits down the line. As the story progresses you can unlock various Clown Dimensions where wild clowns roam, these dimensions are all suffering from some hardship though. Help them with their problems to access new clown types and functions, such as humanely releasing unwanted clowns, traveling to new markets to put on shows, or pleasing the Clown Gods to receive blessings.

Watch out for the Scary Clown breeds in the wild (think Pennywise). They can and will kill you if given the chance, but a skilled enough Clown expert may be able to tame even the most terrifying of encounters, and perhaps find room on their ranch for these misfit predators...

And then ideally there are sequels where you do the same thing but with Knights or Wizards or Henchmen or etc.

There's an awful trend in reading that's this CinemaSins kind of rejection of abstract concepts and suspension of disbelief, that makes people say it's bad writing when authors use descriptions that aren't immediately one to one with physical reality.

Like it's bad when a "tattoo is undulating" (as opposed to... "drawn in a wave like pattern on the skin"?), or when hair is "wet wheat from a late Summer field" (as opposed to "sort of brownish light yellow that dries lighter, but is not actual wheat stalks growing on someone's head but kind of reminiscent of the color and texture"?), or when when ice cream tastes like midnight at the fair" (as opposed to "ice cream flavour bringing back memories of undefined ice cream flavours that are individually popular but always tied to a memory of late evening at the fair ground and probably smelling vaguely like popcorn and sugar"?).

Please. We have to get back to understanding abstract descriptions that evoke feelings and memories and mental images or things we haven't experienced yet. This hyper utilitarian way of reading and judging text is killing fiction. it's robbing you of experiencing things you haven't actually personally experienced.
