She gave him a squeeze as he spoke, chuckling at the fact that his mom was already buying up every baby store around her. Pulling back Shelley looked up at him with a smile. “Sounds like she’s ready to be a grandma!”  Shelley reached for Grants hand, pulling him towards the kitchen to make them a hot chocolate and a snack. “You hungry? I was thinking of making some popcorn,” she asked. “My treat. You had a long day.” 

“I tried to convince her that puppies should count as grand kids but she wasn’t going for that.” Grant chuckled softly, letting Shelley lead him to the kitchen. “I never turn down food - especially if I don’t have to make it.” He moved to sit down at the island counter, leaning his head in his hand. “You know something, Shell, I really am excited - like it’s a complicated situation but damn, I’m excited.”

“You would be correct - I’m excited but the effective rate was a definite failure.”

If you could turn back time, what you going to do first?

Do I get to choose how far back in time I go? I would probably change decisions that led to the ruin of certain relationships.

“Oh my god,” she whispered. She really was speechless. She couldn’t tell if it was a hint of jealous towards LA or maybe she felt bad that this was the way he finally became a dad. Shelley wouldn’t wish the pain of having an unexpected pregnancy with an ex on anyone. “What are you thinking? I mean– feeling? How are you in general?” 

“I...” Grant paused, trying to stop the jumble of thoughts running through his head. “Do I wish that this was happening in a different way? Yeah, probably. I mean - she filed for divorce then we were both...stupid for one night and now this? It’s complicated. Is it weird to same I’m nervously excited?”

“I’ll have to remember it for the future because it’s a little too late to listen to it now. There could definitely be worse things and I have faith that everything will end up okay but it still comes as a shock. Thanks.”
