Hey Everyone,

My name is Callie Deschouwer and I am the creator of ‘Sweet Thoughts By Callie’ which is an bakery that I run out of my house - mostly selling only to friends and family. I hope to one day open a Boutique Bakery!

I graduated from the Baking and Pastry Arts program from the school Louis Riel Arts and Technology Centre in 2017, I’m a certified baker and have a certificate in Food Handlers Safety. 

I started baking at a very young age because of my grandma, every time my sister and I went over to her place for sleepovers we always baked something and it was my favourite thing to do with her, because of her I wanted to be a baker when I grew up. When she got sick and started getting weaker the baking stopped, and not long after she passed away. I never baked afterwards unless I absolutely had to (foods class in school). It just hurt and I didn’t have my favourite person to share it with. In 2016 my sister had mentioned of wanting to do the Baking and Pastry Arts program and asked if I would want to do it with her. I was very hesitate but was eventually convinced to apply to the year long course. I honestly thought I was going to end up dropping out, it was a very real possibility for me at the time, but I met some new friends, and I ended up sticking with it. I realized it is something I still very much enjoy to do and I have my sister all to thank for supporting me the whole way. Every time I bake I feel my grandma with me and it makes me feel 100x closer to her even though she is no longer with us. I can now officially say that I am a baker and have become exactly what I wanted to be as a child. I hope to expand my knowledge, especially on chocolatier work, I think that would be so awesome!!

Currently my favourite thing to bake is sugar cookies and flooding them with royal icing, I guess you can call me a “cookier” and its been so much fun. I’m hoping I can find a business who would want to partner with me and sell my flooded sugar cookies one day!

Spruce Sands themed going away cake🔥someone bought a cake for their friends/neighbours ⛺ who are leaving the trailer park after being there for years🌲Thank you to @demihaleypastry for helping me complete it & for making the fondant sign💖 . . The trees are icecream cones piped with buttercream. The logs in the fire are hickory sticks and the flames are gummy bears and sprinkles, the logs around the fire pit are tootsie rolls.
