After 712 days (18 days short of two years), I finally finished my Lord of the Rings map embroidery project!!!!
And this last one is to show my finger for scale and to point to some tiny march plants XD
This took so much time to make, but it was so worth it. I loved seeing the map slowly appear on the shirt as I embroidered. And I did bring the difficulty on myself, because I was trying to make each individual hill and mountain match the original map. (As much as I could without going insane that is.)
As an example, here is a comparison of Dol Guldur:
(This is why you should NOT let a precisionist do embroidery btw)
Overall, it was a simple project. I only used a total of four stitches for the entire map: a split stitch for the outline, a french knot (for the trees), a running stitch (for everything except filling in the mountains and hills), and a variant of the satin stitch, adjusted to fill in the mountains and hills. The hardest part of the project was honestly the amount of time it took.
And if anyone is curious, here is the map I used for reference:
(And I'm always happy to answer questions about the process!)
i hate the word spicy can we bring back calling things erotic
rolling up to Wendy's to get an erotic chicken sandwich
brought nothing to the gun fight. whatever man
Just came home from a dinner party with the friendgroup at which several people kept saying "Ask Pedro" or "Pedro will know" and I was terrified that they were referring to an AI like Claude but no, thank fuck, they were referring to a cardboard cutout of Pedro Pascal that someone left upstairs and who has been designated a kind of patron saint status in the household.
“i should take a walk for my mental health” boring, tired, i don’t even really wanna do it tbh
“i need to check the perimeter” i need to check the perimeter
Bronze age ship discovered
look inside
made of wood
it's made of wood because all the bronze was used to make the age, not the ships. obviously
not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!
I only hate certain types of fic the same way I hate mosquitos and ticks. Like get these nasty little buggers away from me but also I respect their place in the ecosystem.
Me, spraying bug spray: blocked.
Listen and sometimes? To enjoy running through a beautiful field of grass and flowers (ao3) you have to tolerate the fact that bugs (fics you don’t like) are there and maybe you will even encounter one, but you can use bugspray (filtered tags) to reduce the likelihood of that. Because the alternative is not getting to experience the beautiful field of grass and flowers.
And some of my mutuals happen to be entomologists. Which is also cool.
he's gonna die one day soon and it wont fix everything but it'll feel great and the whole world is gonna fucking party together
