An unfortunate, trigger happy review by @sandee_lamotte. It’s disappointing that a seasoned journalist wouldn’t second guess a study (for instance by reporting with a critical eye, or offer counterposing viewpoints)… it’s almost as if there was a thinly veiled agenda, and this was consistent with a growing trope of biased reporting against cannabis. Although it seems to evade the author, the real story beneath the thin-deep surface correlation of cannabis smoke & coronary disease is relevant and important. Wonderful things happen with a modicum of critical analysis. What are the factors which bring medical patients to consume cannabis? How is Medicine missing the mark? What are they finding helpful about cannabis & can we help reduce their risk. Journalistic integrity would uncover that there are confounding variables (depression, anxiety, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, sleep hygiene, medication or other substance uses..) which could explain the results found here, easily and succinctly, and consistent with the published, accepted literature and expert opinion. A thorough (and unbiased) review of the literature does NOT reveal increased cardiac risk. The increased heart rates are temporary, and blood pressure and obesity rates actually seem to fall with cannabis use, as does metabolic disease and risk. There are MANY outliers that can be organized (by which I mean skewed) to tell a deceptive, far-fetched story. Bad actors or unprofessional players will seize the opportunity. This is where experts are needed, not hacks hanging around with their clicks in their hands. #medicine #medical #opportunity #cardiachealth #medicalcannabis #medicalmarijuana #cannabis #cnn https://www.instagram.com/p/CpEtztQuE-t/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
