I am once more obsessed with the idea of Cap knowing Ras al Ghul.
And I was thinking of Damian or Bruce hearing Cap call this immortal man, older than many of the people they know, even among gods, little one.
I've been running it through my brain and so far ive found 2 ways for it to be adorable.
The JL and Ras for whatever reason have to meet, so Ras goes the the watch tower, his usual high and mighty personality on full.
Then he sees champion and bows a bit. Greeting him respectfully.
"Ah! Little One! How are you?"
And of course the JL all pause. Little one? Ras Al Ghul? Who could ever imagine those two names being tied to the same person.
Ras begins thanking Cap for help at the last immortals meeting and stating his appreciation in gaining magic tools for helping endangered species. Continuing to bow and be respectful.
Of course this baffles Batman who has never seen him be anything but entirely snooty. And Damian is surprised to see his Grandfather not at the highest level of respect.
Cap, of course, is a chill guy and insists that while Mamragan is a stickler for the old rule, Ras does not have to bow to him.
It's this huge debacle where Damian is utterly torn between needing to speak to Cap like he is God among man, like his grandfather is speaking to him. Or to speak to him how Batman has spoken of and to him.
Cause what do you mean this supposed naive new on the job super is deserving of the most powerful man Damian has ever know respect.
The JL goes to either Nanda Parbat or Eth'Alth'Eban for some magical disturbance.
And while walking down the halls Cap suddenly stops.
Pauses in the middle, drawing the attention of Superman and Batman, cause the rest of the JL to stop as well.
Then Cap moves his head like he can hear something, eyes vacant yet focused.
Then he begins walking down a different hall way.
Making twists and turns and even opening up some secret passage way. Not listening to a single one of his teammates behind him.
Eventually they arrive at a thrown room. With Ras Al Ghul sitting at a throne. Eyes guarded and staring.
Cap pauses then. Stating at Ras.
Before slowly moving up to him.
"Oh Little One" he whispers like a prayer.
"You have cursed yourself with the waters. They have tasted blood and now they make you gather it."
He reaches to Ras' face and takes it gently in his hands. Bringing his forehead to meet the others.
"This will help, and I will remove what seeks to harm you and your kin from the waters you rely on"
And a golden light washes over them both.
And Ras looks so at peace and so unburdened that its a wonder he manages to stay awake.
And then Cap moves on to the Lazarus pits, wrangling a writhing angry thing, oozing green and hate from the waters, that now shine white.
When they get back to the throne rooms, Ras' eyes are no longer that vibrant green, but a muddy sort of white. Obvious now that his eyes were once brown, but the white now, that used to be green, has all but covered it up.
And later when Batman gets home he will see the white tinge in damians now muddy green eyes, that were most certainly his mothers, and Jason's now pale blue. Both of his boys, who have been tormented with such green rage, are now blessed with the calm white.
Damian no longer fears stopping into a room, the fear as eased off his shoulders and left him excited and adventurous.
And Jason no longer stomps around, the anger has slid off into contentment and peace. Leaving him free to doze on a couch in the manner library.
And Talia will be kind again. Mischievous of course, but motherly in the way Bruce knew when they were young, and they envision eachother parents. Her eyes now brown, the color he was so sure they were before green took way. No longer the deep chocolate of a late night cocoa, but milky and sweet and constant all the same.
And Ras will remember what it was all for. For Gaia, for mother earth, for his mother who died to protect the earth the humans were polluting. But Ras could see something too now, his mother also died for the people of this world. To protect them and they place they called home. And Ras will go back to his conservation efforts again. Handling scum of the earth, and cleaning habitats.
And maybe secretly, Cap will go back as a woman with white hair, a hard face, but loving eyes. Dressed in gold and green. And maybe Ras will get to see his mother again
