In an very unofficial capacity, some folks (myself included) are doing our farewells to the forum and the characters we played there throughout the forums' 13 years of existence.
Nothing is official, but if a forum that's paid for biannually sees no posts for months...
✨Excellent News📰
for sophisticated enjoyers of obscure Mass Effect lore! This reddit user compiled ALL of the old Cerberus Daily News e-mails into a google doc, helpfully formatted for better readability and organized by topic! There are plenty of one-off articles about various aspects of galactic life, but also a bunch of multi-installment stories. The whole thing is very entertaining and compelling despite CDN having been written as "just" a fun extra thing for players to read along with in ME3, and it's packed with tons of neat glimpses into the setting outside of Shepard's immediate circle and experiences.
An update and ending of kind
Per the blog maintainer’s resignation and departure from the CDN forums, this blog will go into dormancy for the foreseeable future and remain as parallel archive of its newsposts in case of the forums’ disappearance.
Should new staff take responsibility of writing new content for the forum’s newsposts, then this blog will attempt to post them at the soonest convenience of noticing them.
I thank you all my readers for staying along for the ride.

[CUISINE] The Stench of Fear - Tourists Still Avoiding Sushi Bars
via Sights Unseen [CUISINE] The Stench of Fear - Ryuusei's Incident Still Haunts Sushi Bars, Deters Tourists The infamous Ryuusei's Sushi Bar shootout may be over ten galactic standard years old by now, but Citadel's sushi restaurants still feel its paralyzing sting on their business in the present. Results from a survey conducted last year by Citadel Restaurant Association and Partnership cast light on the grim reality. Staff and management reported the most drastic decline in their restaurants' popularity and some even had shuttered over past years. "Assassins make an attempt at a Spectre's life in a restaurant and the Extranet zooms in on the sushi bar as the butt of their joke! People didn't jeer at the victims like this when Cerberus razed a whole food court up at Presidium, did they? It's a sick, sick galaxy out there." wrote one anonymous restauranter in the survey. Yet not everyone believes it's just the incident behind the decline. Jomun Gemlen, a veteran restaurant reviewer with reviews published from The Citadel Post to Omega Herald, believes it is really twilight for one genre of cuisine in the galactic scene. “Earth’s time on the plate is over. Every combination of rice and fish in a roll has been seen and eaten. The mouths of the galaxy desire novelty!”, Jomun commented to us, “What one should really keep an eye out for are what’s coming out of Camala and Erzsbat. Today it might be a bowl of raksha hash from a street stall, tomorrow it’ll be ribs and t-bone steak at Presidium!” Whether the spicy and notoriously health warning-labeled cuisine out of Kite’s Nest will win over the galaxy’s tongues or not remains to be seen.
[LITERATURE] Matriarch Benezia’s Writings To Be Auctioned
cross-posted via Republics Today In pursuit of a means to alleviate their debts, the asari republic of Drushana has announced they will put up for auction a collection of writings from the late Matriarch Benezia, in one week's time. Now known best as 'the Matriarch who sided with the Reapers', Benezia was once seen as a model asari elder whose writings were valued by many. Following the revelation that she was working with the Reapers, Benezia's writings are no longer disseminated, and in the intervening years they have been subject to intense scrutiny as scholars try to determine exactly when she became indoctrinated. The dating and origin of the collection being auctioned remain unclear, but the sale is expected to draw interest from numerous institutions and universities across the Asari Republics, not to mention private collectors. Also to be included in the auction are assorted artifacts and relics from the Batarian Hegemony, as well as other items of historical significance long held in museums and other public institutions of Drushana.
[CUISINE] Citadel Man Vows To Eat From Every Pizzeria On Station
via The Wards Courier A self-proclaimed 'Genre Eater' Emon Stalla, Zakera Ward resident and restaurant reviewer has announced that his next conquest will be the myriad pizzerias of Citadel Station. "My work with sushi restaurants is done,” Stalla told the Wards Courier. “They're out. Past season's fad. The new frontier in folk gastronomy lies with the pizza. I'll introduce my viewers to it in my own style. First episode will be out in a week, tune in by then!" Stalla’s prior review series on Citadel's sushi restaurants managed to cover some 600 establishments before being disrupted by the Eden Prime Geth Conflict and Reaper Wars. Based on a quick plex, Emon Stalla has a several thousand visits-long path ahead of him across the five wards and Presidium. The newsroom at Wards Courier salutes and wishes him luck in his endeavor.

[CRIME] Varren Puppy Mill Reduced to Ash
by Kolina Marsevus, Gevannis Gazette [Uanassis, PZITAK] A facility specializing in the breeding of exotic varren breeds has been destroyed, its management murdered, and its breed stock liquidated by unknown persons. No entity has yet claimed responsibility for the incident, though evidence left at the scene have led investigators to consider animal welfare as a potential motivating force. “It wasn’t exactly subtle,” said Arava Masclani, a lead investigator for the incident, when asked for comment. “Arsonists don’t typically cover a single computer terminal in fireproof material and label it as evidence before destroying everything around it.” Kassamer Kennels has been a decades-long source of controversy in the Uanassis community. The facility has been involved in the development of specialized varren strains through selective breeding since opening its doors 147 years ago, and is credited as instrumental in the development of both Maned Klarens- and Spotted Seber bloodlines primarily used as show breeds in urban Republic colonies. Kassamer has, however, been accused of engaging in disfiguring “brute-force” gene therapy to create new varren breeds, and Tuchanka-based geneticists have long claimed that the facilities have engaged in “inbreeding that should make any Thessian panic.” “Some of these varren can barely hold their heads up,” said Raik Vanor, a particularly outspoken critic of the facility. “Stubby limbs, collapsed snouts, underdeveloped spines…you’d think this was an ardat-yakshi research program, the way they’re bred.” These claims have, however, regularly been dismissed by Kassamer representatives. “Kassamer proudly maintains a decades-long ‘Excellent’ rating streak from the Kennel Club of the Republics, and are proud to invite real geneticists to inspect our facilities,” said founding member Urasi Kassamer in a direct-response video to Ms. Vanor a year before yesterday’s attack. “Qualified scientists shall always find our facilities immaculate, our breeders humane, and our product to be among the healthiest, most robust breeding stock in the entire galaxy.” Urasi Kassamer, 471, was one of the victims of yesterday’s attack. Surviving relatives of the Kassamer family have offered a reward for any information regarding the destruction of the eponymous facility. For more information, please consult this link.
[CRIME] Notorious Cat Burglar Turns Self In, Claims She "Was Tired of the Whole Business"
Police Baffled by Self-Report via Clancy Tavish, the Sirona Star [SIRONA] Police at the 42nd Precinct Station of Senturom were baffled yesterday as an elcor alleging herself to be the infamous “Crawler of Grisaron” turned herself in, citing a climbing dissatisfaction with her work/life balance. Thirteen artifacts of considerable worth were recovered in her ensuing arrest, lending significant credence to her claim. “We had no idea what to make of it,” said Police Sergeant Eduardo Spaulding, who was present at the time of arrest. “We still don’t, frankly. Here we are, three Citadel homeworlds and over a dozen colonies trying to pin down this master art thief, and she just lumbers into our podunk town and turns herself over.” The Crawler of Grisaron is currently wanted on Sur’kesh, Thessia, and Earth, along with a number of other major colony worlds for the theft of countless priceless works of art, often stolen under spectacular circumstances. Thefts attributed to the Crawler include Athame by Siphoni M’Stal (c. 2100 BCE), the statue Lady with an Orange by 21st-century sculptor Uriah Blau, and the painting Tore Nura Scheming Against the Gods by Siron Sogan. The last of these, commissioned by Clan Dragel after their first successful manned mission to the planet that took their name, is a Union treasure and was considered impossible to steal before its disappearance in 2166. The alleged Crawler (current name unknown) has refused to divulge the means by which she procured any of these items, nor has she identified any co-conspirators who may have assisted herself, citing only “extensive research” the degree of which “has encroached on my social life.” Attempts to identify her via biometrics have similarly failed, though investigative representatives from the Union, Republics, and SATAE have promised to combine their efforts to determine just who she is and how she managed to commit each crime. Until then, the Crawler has been detained in Sentorum’s maximum security prison wing pending extradition to one of the aforementioned homeworlds. “Matter of fact: it will be nice to get some much-deserved time off,” she said in a statement to the Star before her detainment. “Smug: Perhaps, once I get out, everyone will finally be better at looking after their toys.”
[ACCIDENT] Shipping Company Has Egg On Face After Cargo Hatches
via The Colonist DIMOS, ARA'KESH - Visitors to the salarian colony's principal spaceport at Dimos were treated to a peculiar sight today, as a cargo freighter dumped a horde of young household pets out of its hold into the terminal. The crew of the Hiis-Tola Lines registered freighter has been detained by the city's authorities pending investigation on charges of animal welfare violations and littering. According to a statement made by the ship's captain, he believes a cosmic ray caused the ship's thermostat to malfunction. In turn heating up the compartment carrying litters of choriick eggs. The captain thought 'it was out of the question to eject them out the airlock' and chose to land and face the fines instead.
How are the Kirrik species of biotic beetle swarm semi-sapients doing? Did they manage to survive the war? Is their planet under protection?
Well, I don't have anything here on about any beetles! Must have gotten lost in the whole war.
How's that Spera'Tal quarian kid with the functioning immune system doing?
We presume well! Good boring life is not news worthy.
[CRIME] Levipack Battery Thief Defies Police, Terrorizes Hanar
via Nos Astra Daily A brazen thief has struck again in Nos Astra, where yet another hanar resident was left trapped in the confines of their tank after their levitation pack's battery was taken by the burglar. This is the eighth occurrence of this type of crime in the past month. Nos Astra PD has declined to comment on their progress in identifying the culprit. An officer requesting anonymity cited active investigations as cause for the silence and encouraged the city’s residents to “exercise vigilance in securing their homes by their own means and by those of commercial services”. The police’s lukewarm assurance was met poorly by the city’s hanar community. Onuvenes, chair for the Invigorating Downpour service organization’s local chapter, condemned their stance. “These ones are no less than betrayed by these words. Are hanar exempt from the police’s mission to protect? Are these ones’ ability to participate in society so trivial as to be ignored? These ones are owed the humblest apologies.”
[LITERATURE] Court Blocks Attempt To Withdraw Ex-Cerberus Biopic
via Westerlund News The years-long legal saga between Lima-based Leyendos Books and a former ghost writer has finally been put to rest by a final judgment in the UNAS Superior Court of Lima, awarding control of the manuscript and all concerned rights to the publishing house. The award has been made with the caveat that any further developments of the material must be named something else, to create a distinction between the owned work and the ghost writer’s manuscript. Originally published under the title Hellhounds: The Cerberus Conspiracy, the book was the work of xenobiologist Dr. Rochelle Adams, a former employee of the Cerberus shell corporation Cord-Hislop Aerospace. In the book, Adams, through a ghostwriter and scanned documents, illustrates her experiences starting out in the legitimate side of Cord-Hislop before being inducted into human supremacist circles within the company, later detailing her work on various “skunkworks” projects in the Advanced Life Sciences Division. She charges the Advanced Life Sciences Division with developing “Project Pendragon,” a prototype nerve agent meant to target dextro-rotatory chirality life exclusively. She further accuses that the Alliance Intelligence Service sanctioned the development of it for a future war with the Turian Hierarchy, dispersing samples through xenophobic groups affiliated with the Terra Firma party for ‘field testing’. Other accusations Adams has leveled at Cord-Hislop and Cerberus include assassination attempts on Dalatrass Konpelai via an ‘embolism gun’ to replace her with a more pliable trade partner, thus and gaining access to proprietary techniques on the refinement of element zero, plans for storming the Thallonakis Convent to capture maidens suffering from Ardat-Yakshi Syndrome for study, and attempts to re-engineer Kepral’s Syndrome to affect krogan. The book remained a perennial underperformer for the six months it was available for distribution. Two weeks later, Adams was found dead, the result of gunshots to the head in what Toronto Metropolitan Police describe as a suicide attempt. The ghostwriter, identified as one Adrian Rycart, subsequently came forward, filing an injunction against Leyendos Publishing to stop distribution of Hellhounds. At time of filing, Rycart stated that he believed the documents Adams provided for source material were authentic, not counterfeits or hoaxes. In his petition for injunction, however, he cited a later belief Adams had manufactured the existence of “Pendragon” and several other Cerberus operations to enhance the otherwise dry reading of her biopic. Leyendos’ spokesperson, Iris MacDonald-Ruiz, minced no words in the publisher’s statement on the matter: “We at Leyendos are satisfied with the judgment. While we regret the title did not perform better, Mr. Rycart’s cynical attempts to drum up interest in the book are contrary to Leyendos’ core principles, and we are at work republishing the work under the new name ‘Hair Of The Dog’.” Hair Of The Dog is expected to release sometime in [November 2197]
[CRIME] Mercenaries Raid Film Collector's Vault
via The Galaxy Weekly A lightning-fast raid by heavily armed assailants has left Gatner Heights, Altakiril in disbelief and fear as esteemed corporate mogul Thax Fonus's personal vault was robbed just yesterday. The community had thus far been spared from most privations of war and fighting. Ushnin Private Defense, the PMC responsible for the security of the remote home, reported that no one was injured, but Fonus's extravagant mansion compound suffered severe damage during the raid. The assailants 'struck with practiced precision, stealing off Fonus's entire bank grade vault by blowing its surrounding structures apart and hoisting it up with a heavy duty skycrane'. Eyewitness accounts and recordings have corroborated that armored krogan arrived via a shuttle, later followed by the heavy lifter. “We'll be frank here, this whole war makes keeping track of things difficult across Altakiril,” a spokesperson for the local security forces stated when questioned about likely suspects, referring to the ongoing class conflict taking place on-planet. “Mr. Fonus may have to wait a while for investigations to turn up results,” The motivations behind the heist are as-yet unknown; however, Mr. Fonus's recent auction purchase of the only copy of the unaired "Tuxon's Best Drunk Finances" final season has already surfaced as a possible motivation by hopeful fans, if a few centuries late. Mr. Fonus, who was attending an amusement park industry convention on Illium at the time, has refused to comment.
[SPORTS] Telecoms Dalatrass Bids For The Olympics
via Pranas Courier Dalatrass Inlin has sent shockwaves throughout Sol after announcing her interest in purchasing the trademark of the human Olympic Games, the greatest sporting event on Earth for the past three centuries. The Olympic Games have lain dormant since the Reaper War and ensuing Reconstruction, with only cursory preparations made by various national Olympic committees seeking to revive the millennia-old tradition. In past centuries, the games attracted vast amounts of support but also graft and corruption in selection of the host nation and construction of the Olympic venues. The Inlin clan's vast treasury and Maphic-Inlin Extranet sponsorship may just be what the committees need to kickstart the revival properly. No official response has been tendered yet to the offer made on social media, though the first skeptics such as the United North American States Olympic Committee have decried against the bid, stating that 'our [human] immaterial heritage is not for sale'.
