Sweet Sixteen at 9/11

David Wojnarowicz,1988
Wojnarowicz died in his Manhattan home on July 22, 1992 at the age of 37, from what his boyfriend, Tom Rauffenbart, confirmed was AIDS
His memoir â a series of essays and vignettes that starts out fairly experimental, at first reflecting on his life as a homeless teenage prostitute at truck stops and in Times Square, then progressively becoming more lucid and political as his partner dies from AIDS â is one of the best, most underrated American memoirs. Itâs called Close to the Knives, one of my absolute favorite books of all time.
His longest, most serious partner was the artist Peter Hujar who helped him quit heroin and mentored him as an artist. The AIDS focused chapters are mainly centered around his rage and grief watching Peter and other friends die.
Wojnarowicz is also one of the artists featured in Olivia Laingâs excellent book The Lonely City. Thereâs also a documentary about him on Youtube. I really recommend looking into learning about him and his art, itâs very interesting and he was incredibly talented

Just a little pinup of my pretty Angel Caro in between working on comics. I like to find old ads from the 70s and 80s and reimagining the poses with my characters.

utterly convinced that contemporary labyrinth horror is an architectural manifestation of the conventionally oriented mindâs reaction to encounters with experiences described in queer throaty

the kids are calling them "stone fruits." they start off smallâthink cherries. then they're hooked and they need a quick fix, they get peaches, maybe some nectarines. it's all they can think about. before you know it, they're trying the really hard stuffâapricots, plums. once they taste a mango there's no going back.

i wanted to make an art for this but nothing felt good enough. hey, thank you. and congratulations! and don't you worry, sometimes you've got to jump off that cliff in order to begin. I'm glad my work can be there to help you land <3 Here's to a speedy recovery, and finding yourself in the mirror!
