Okay, so I couldn’t upload this yesterday, but the spirit is still the same
Ladies and gentlemen of all ages, it is Sunday, and you know what that means:
Fighter Jet Sunday!
Today we’ll be talking about the Fiat Punto GT! Wait... that can’t be right. You mean Fiat made planes? I think you’ve got that wrong, now... oh, it IS true! Damn, italians did step up their game. Either way, let’s talk about the Fiat G.91.
This fat, subsonic, piece of italian engineering sure has some history into himself. It was developed in the interest of NATO’s Light Weight Strike Figther role, to be easy to operate and mantain, as well as cheap and independent from ground support. It’s development had to be very quick as the designs were required after two months of the start of the competition. It managed to get the second place in the competition and soon a prototype was built to begin tests.
During these tests the plane encountered several stability problems, and the first prototype was lost. After several months of testing, the plane was declared the winner.
The aircraft was considered by several nations for CAS role, but it only served in the German, Italian and Portuguese Air Forces, having only combat operational history in the last, during the Portuguese Colonial Wars.
Okay, now this is plain wrong...
Fighter Jet Sunday (Northrop F-5)
Alright, then, before we take off with this, I’d just like to apologise for not having posted anything for the past couple of weeks. Other than that, I’ll now (hope to) start uploading every Sunday a post about a fighter jet, and most of the data will come from Wikipedia or other sites with trustworthy information, so I’ll try to be as accurate as possible. Let’s get this started then.
Very well, in the mid 50′s, Northrop’s Vice President (and one of the chief designers of the successful P-51 Mustang, and F-86 Sabre) Edgar Schmued called for the development of a low-cost, low-maintenance and small sized fighter jet. The first design was meant for the navy’s aging escort carriers (uncapable of supporting current navy fighters) and was named N-156, though the idea for a carrier jet was soon discarded as the navy withdrew its escort carriers from service.
Nevertheless, the design was taken by the Air Force to replace the T-33 trainer aircraft, and with that, was born the YT-38 Talon.
In the early 60′s though, the concept seemed to loose popularity and it appeared as though the whole project was turning into a failure until, in 1962, the Air Force voted the N-156F as the winner of the F-X competition for a low cost export aircraft. Then production began for the first F-5A’s, and soon, Canada and Spain became interested in the design and started producing it themselves.
Then, in the 70′s, Northrop won the International Fighter Aircraft and began development of the improved F-5: the F-5E Tiger II, now perfected in air to air combat, with improved avionics and engines. Several of the new Tiger II’s were now built under license abroad in nations such as Taiwan and Switzerland.
Further development transformed the aircraft into the single engined F-20 Tigershark, made specifically for export purpouses, but it lost in a competition against the F-16. Curiously enough, the Tigger II’s and Tigersharks were much more cost-efficient than the F-16.
The aircraft never saw much action overall, and there’s little (if any) combat record of the F-5 by the USAF. Nowadays it is used by Turkey in bombing raids against terrorist groups and was used by the Royal Saudi Air Force in the Gulf War for Close Air Support (CAS). The only air kills it scored were under Ethiopia (shooting down two Mig 21s) and Iran (engaging several figter jets during the Iran-Iraq war).
Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War/Squadron Leader - Peace Speech
Vincent Harling: This is President Harling of the Osean Federation, attention all Osean and Yuktobanian officers and soldiers currently on the battlefield. Let us put down our guns, and come out of the trenches. The Osean capital of Oured has been freed of the people who tried to take advantage of my absence to usurp control of the country. Once robbed of my freedom, and of my ability to do the right thing, I now stand again under the light of the golden sun, and I do so with the honorable Yuktobanian Prime Minister Nikanor by my side. We have resolved our terrible and unfortunate misunderstandings, and the war is now over.
Seryozha Viktrovich Nikanor: This is Prime Minister Nikanor, head of government for the Union of Yuktobanian Republics. Attention all officers and soldiers of Osea and Yuktobania currently on the battlefield, please watch as President Harling and I stand shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand. President Harling's words are true. The war is over, but there is still one more battle that needs to be fought.
Vincent Harling: We believe that those who have tried to stir hatred between us are now preparing a weapon that could wipe out half of all metropolitan areas in either one of our countries. Our comrades are in flight as I speak, determined to stop this plan dead in its tracks. Which country is under the threat of mass destruction? That we do not know.
Seryozha Viktrovich Nikanor: However, that is no longer important. No matter which country is hit, it would be a severe blow to all of us.
Vincent Harling: So now I ask you, members of the military, if you see it in your hearts, please utilize the resources available to you and help out our brave pilots. Right now they are flying east to meet the enemy.
Seryozha Viktrovich Nikanor: To those who still dare to hide behind the power of their hateful weapons, bring yourself before the light of peace and harmony.
This is easily my favourite speech in a videogame. Just love how a war videogame can be so much "pro-peace".
The healthy human mind doesn't wake up in the morning thinking this is its last day on Earth. But I think that's a luxury, not a curse. To know you're close to the end is a kind of freedom.

Yesterday's enemies are today’s recruits. Train them to fight alongside you and pray they don’t eventually decide to hate you for it, too.

Speaking of juice, don’t drink too much. *ahem* Especially almost expired juice.
The feels are extremely strong on this one. Best game I’ve ever played.
I almost got kicked out of school for wearing a ‘Kiss Me I’m Black’ shirt
After a long day of high fives and kids telling me either how much they loved it — or hearing kids whispering hateful stuff about it to one other, my principal took me aside.
“If you wear that shirt in this school again you’re getting suspended.” he said firmly.
“What? Why?”
“Because it’s offensive and not everyone can wear one!” He was yelling at this point.
“But everyone wears ‘Kiss Me I’m Irish’ shirts and none of them get suspended!” I was yelling back.
“Don’t wear it again.”
“These sorts of micro aggressions — whereby no one’s screaming that they hate black people, but they’re upset that people of color acknowledge their difference in a way that isn’t self-depricating — are incredibly common.”
^^^^THIS. ALL of the this.
You guys, the author is selling “Kiss Me, I’m Black” shirts! http://teespring.com/kiss-me-i-m-black
It’s me.
Yay, Mr. Putin is sitting right next to Portugal! Now this would do a good Hetalia episode.

Inspired to draw after watching Markiplier (or here) playing it.
This was such an amazing game. Explaining its ending won’t have the same effect on you as if you played the game yourself, thus I highly recommend anyone to download it from the link provided by Markiplier. It will put your mind under stressful situations, twist your spirit of all its joy and hopefully get it back in one of the two endings of the game. What you understand of this game is up to your own mind to decide, but I guarantee that mine was destroyed in so many aspects that its very essence had to change to minimally comprehend the pain, suffering, freedom, joy and anxiousness that have been portrayed. To finish, I’d only like to say this: the music will make you cry, maybe not physically, but definetely psycologically.
