the highest recorded wet bulb temperatures in the world occur in india, jsyk. in odisha, they’ve hit 34.6 degrees celsius. the human survivability limit is 35 degrees celsius but the body faces significant risks, potentially fatal risks, even at 30 degrees as it starts failing to cool itself, like i’m talking organ failure levels of risk. climate change isn’t coming to peak, it’s been in the global south where you can’t see it or feel it.
imagine temperatures that high and humidity as high as 75%—you make more heat than you can ever cool. your sweat cannot evaporate fast enough. you literally boil alive. heat deaths in india are underreported and they already hit the thousands. there is no plan, for a nation of almost 2 billion people. no plan. nothing.
man, i’m sorry—this breaks my heart. i went to odisha during one of the trips home to india to visit my mom’s family and it is one of the most remarkable and deeply wondrous places that i have ever seen. i wish that was how i could speak about it all the time. it’s a place that eternalizes human creativity and devotion towards the sublime. i wish anybody cared about india as much as it deserves to be cared for, starting with care from our own government.
its just insane to me that you can watch the entirety of twin peaks and come to the conclusion that audrey and dale should've been together. this show is about how dangerous it is for men to think that they are entitled to women and will place romantic/sexual relationships above all else. leland kills laura because he thinks he has ownership over her as both a father and lover. leo controls shelly because he sees no value in her beyond being a servant to him. audrey's own father does not pay a shred of attention towards her because he cannot love her like he loved laura. dale is the only man who has ever treated audrey with respect and he knows it. audrey conflates his care with romantic affection, and whilst she is genuinely in love with him, it's misguided because she has never had anyone, especially a man, be so considerate towards her. dale is the figure all these women so desperately needed in their lives, a man who cared for, understood, and respected them. he never put his personal wants above what audrey truly needed: a friend and guardian.

Bunny: thinks smoking is unhealthy but has a collection of disposable vapes. Somehow thinks it's not bad for you?? He has at least one on him at all times and will hit that shit anywhere, library, class, restaurants, plane to rome. Denies he has a nicotine problem.

Francis: Keeps a stash of european cigarettes and cigarillos at the country house, claims they're 'smoother' than american brands. Carries an antique case with sobranie Black Russians with him because he's annoying like that. Bought an elfbar because Bun wouldn't share and switches between cherry and raspberry watermelon pods. Tried to teach himself to blow rings (he can't)
Charles: the twins have a big fucking water pipe somewhere in the house but neither know how to use the thing. Charles smokes pall malls or camel golds and smokes a LOT of weed. His tolerance is insane but he still makes camilla roll for his because you KNOW he can't
Camilla: my girlll. Francis got her a pack of the pastel sobranies once, she hated them. Likes parliaments, winstons or marlboro golds. Likes using dollar store lighters with pictures of flowers of animals on them (so real girl). Is actually a very heavy smoker but doesn't fuck with vapes or joints too much. Enjoys stealing bunnys vapes for the hell of it.
Richard: i know he's hitting the pen 24/7 look at that man. Rolls a blunt like nobody's business and smoked weed every day through out middle school (canon btw). He's dialed back on the weed now but loves a smoke break. Definitely smokes whatever he think people will find cool, i imagine he was a marlboro red enjoyer growing up. Has no vapes, hits them at parties but has aesthetic objections.
Henry: lucky strike smoker no.1. lungs blacker than potting soil. Smokes weed occasionally to help with his chronic pain (migraines and in his bad leg) Used to buy pre-rolled joints from cloke but he's picky about filters and papers and literally everything so now he rolls them himself (also the concept of henry having a bong..... Hilarious...) Didn't know vapes existed until bunny tried to get him into it. Has tried it, the smell makes him nauseous.
Judy: queen of the l&m. Would not be surprised to see this bitch with an elfbar touch (the ones with a whole screen on it). A wizard of tricks, taught richard how to french inhale. Smokes weed on occasion but that girl takes uppers every day of the week so probably not often.
