I'm sooo uncomfortable when people say things like "these faith communities rose above religion to come together" and I'm like... No... They came together because religion connects us through the divine and when practised properly it encourages people to reach out and be kind to our fellow humans, and it's certainly not something to "rise above" or "overcome"

The early rabbis calculated that the Torah was given to Moses at Mout Sinai on Shavuot. Thus, the holiday is marked by the study of the Torah.
Prayer is meaningless unless it is subversive, unless it seeks to overthrow and to ruin the pyramids of callousness, hatred, opportunism and falsehood.
