Those of you who know me or follow here, may know that I never post pictures of myself here. I’ve only done it one other time for the @seedphytonutrients #peoplewhocare campaign which i thought was really great. 👏👏👏👏 So here I am again feeling inspired enough to get vulnerable and share a personal message and image to bring awareness to the incredibly worthy movement and trend #challengeaccepted also supported by #womenempoweringwomen which y’all know I’m totally into! 💕🙌✨👏 Did you know that this female empowerment trend was actually startled in Turkey, which happens to be IG’s 6th largest global user audience to bring awareness to the ongoing atrocity of #femicide ? 💔💔💔 The purpose of posting black and white images of females is meant to be a form of solidarity for the women who’s images have been posted after their murder or abhorrent abuse at the hands of male aggressors, many of which are family members. 💔💔 💔 It was meant to bring awareness and also reflect the possibility that any one of us could be the next victim of such an act of violence and how none of us are excused from this potential despite seemingly protective privileges many of us enjoy. 💔💔💔 I chose this particular image because at the time it was taken we had just launched Chakra Intimates and my husband and I went away for the weekend to celebrate the culmination of all my hard work to make the vision a reality. Although it was made possible with the help of loans and credit, I still realize that all was granted, even the blessing of a trip away with my partner, as a reflection of my life’s privilege that many other women never get to realize simply because of the color of their skin, or where they were born. 💔💔💔 Until recently I would have doubted the serious impact a social trend could have, but after witnessing the recent global shift due to public outcry on such deep rooted social injustices I am starting have more faith in the collective and the consciousness it seems to be supporting.
