What my tumblr gonna be about

New tumblr of the year. First post for the new tumblr. Here goes.

Hi! I'm a newbie writer and started writing on AO3 more than a year ago. Specifically in April 2023. Like many writers, it all started with a hyperfixation.

Mine was Chris Redfield.

I mean, honestly - have you seen this man?

I wasn't really familiar with the Resident Evil franchise, but I knew who Leon, Ada, and Claire were. RE2 was a very famous game, after all. I knew Jill from the movies, but I never knew about Chris Redfield. Somehow, along the way, I had this image of him at the back of my mind. I got hooked on RE only after watching Markiplier play RE7. Even then, when Chris revealed himself, I was like, "Nah, you're not Chris Redfield."

Then RE8 came out.

But even then I was still "Meh!"

UNTIL the Redfield bloodline meme.

THAT was what got me interested in Chris.

Why? I have no idea.

Or maybe it was those Tiktok videos of Chris that really got me. I don't remember atp.

And I guess, slowly, it got me fixated over the tough guy. Then my postgraduate studies got me so stressed. I guessed I just wanted to escape my mundane life.

So that's how I started writing on AO3.

As of now, I have 2 published fanfics (WIP) and working on another one which I would be publishing sometime this month. Hopefully before the CNY.

So what would you be expecting from this tumblr? Mostly just a lot of AO3 stuffs, my own AO3 stuffs (both snippets, writing exercises probably, and fanarts).

For this tumblr account, it's more for whatever it is that I've put into my AO3.

Chris continues to enjoy his cigarette break, gazing at Lola, who has curled into a ball with her eyes locked onto him. Her butt wiggles, seemingly ready to pounce, eliciting a cautionary “Don’t…” from Chris. The interaction elicits a smile from Emma as Lola leaps onto Chris, who stays still as the feline nestles into his unwelcoming arms.

Chris with his usual hair and long hair. LOL. I just wanted to see how he'd look like if he'd longer hair. I didn't put a lot of effort into the beard cause I just wanna see how he'd look like with it. 😆Probably needs some grey hair since this is the RE8 version.

Had other ideas for this pose but decided to put him in his Village suit. I'm so tired working on this piece. When will I reach a level where I can just draw and color without second guessing myself?

This "template" was originally for a different take on Chris Redfield but I drew him in Village suit cause I don't think anyone would recognize him otherwise 🤣

One of the sweetest things is when you post a new work on AO3 and then one of your old works gets a comment because it means that somebody read the new thing and liked it so much that they went and checked what other stuff you wrote and they liked that enough to tell you about it and I just think that is so fucking precious!! thank you thank you thank you to the people who do that, keep doing it it's the best feeling as an author

Being in fandom spaces is so surreal-

Bc once your age hits a 'serious' number, you start to think - "damn, I should probably stop geeking and get more serious." But then you scroll and see a 34y/o woman writing fics after driving her kids to school, a 40y/o dude making fanart of his fav super heroes and you realize - "nah, I'm actually good"

Good news! At various points in your development, it is!

As you write, you level up in little ways. It's not like D&D where you get a level all at once. Oh, no. You get tiny improvements to your skill tree, and there will be points where your build is entirely unbalanced. As you adjust to these changes, you will naturally regress in some areas. This is just your mind and overall skill level getting ready for the final leveling, where you're briefly fully balanced again!

TL;DR: Regression is a natural part of improvement, and while it's frustrating as hell, if you keep going, you can write through it.
