It just hit me... in Strange Magic

when Marianne says “I’m stronger alone,” she doesn’t necessarily mean ‘alone.’ Marianne is sort of open to the idea of being with someone. She even says so. But she clearly states it’d have to be someone she doesn’t want to hit. Meaning, in my opinion, someone who isn’t stupid and (keyword) manipulative. Roland spends all of his screen time trying to manipulate others’ feelings, thoughts, and words around to basically shape shift himself in other people’s views. The message of Strange Magic isn’t that you’re stronger alone. Or that you DO need someone to be stronger. The message, I believe, is that you are stronger without those who manipulate and abuse you. And strongest around those who support you and love you for who you are.
