Lmaooo if I'm being completely honest rn anon, I've got no hope for hotd s3. Don't get me wrong, I love the actors and their greatly talented, being able to accurately portray the characters they are given, but wtf is going on with the show writers? How tf is this even a proper adaptation of the dance of dragons anymore? Like??? If they wanted to make their own story they should've made an original work, not destroy George's hard work by reducing his writing to that non-canonical fanfic of a script. They use the excuse that Fire and Blood is a historical text written from a biased perspective to justify certain interpretations of the text, but then completely erase or change confirmed sections of the text, events that are undeniable fact (Making Alicent the same age as Rhaenyra even though she is much older, making Helaena a dreamer when she is never implied to be one in text, having Daemon kill Rhea Royce when it was literally stated to be impossible in text as he wasn't even in the Vale when she died, erasing the relationship between Rhaenyra and Laena and giving Laena's role to Alicent (?!?!?), erasing Maelor's existence, erasing Rhaena's pampered treatment when she was a ward to Jeyne Arryn, oh my god erasing Morning!!! My barbie pink baby dragon!!!! T_T) The hotd show is what got me into ASOIAF to begin with but... sigh... after reading the books I can't deny that the show is a travesty, a real crime against George and genuine ASOIAF fans. What's wild to me is that they have a genuinely good cast, like these actors are talented and could totally portray the characters to book accuracy. Like, Emma Darcy is a phenomenal Rhaenyra, and I'm certain they could portray her wrath, her grief, her anger to fruition if given the chance, but the script writers keep choosing to portray her in a strictly passive manner. Alicent's portrayal is the craziest to me, cuz we got a little bit of the angry, green queen during the Driftmark episode, like Olivia Cooke acted her butt off in that scene, but then we never got that again in s2???? What???? I want my vicious, scheming Alicent, not this indecisive, weepy woman who prioritizes a dead friendship over her children (same goes for how their portraying my girl Nyra ugh). I've been mostly avoiding leaks, but what I have heard doesn't sound too surprising, just the writers continuing to take liberties and ignoring the actual source material. The only good thing I've heard is that there will be a scene involving Rhaenyra, Helaena and Dreamfyre. Idk what their gonna have the sisters do, but I rrly just want to see Dreamfyre T_T, we were robbed of her in s2. Atp, I'm just watching the show for the dragons, the actors, and because it's an entertaining hot mess, like when u see a car accident and can't bring yourself to look away.
