Given that gorgons were said to have come from the “West” or the western region of Greece, a good guess would be one of these three. All three are endemic to mainland Greece, and all are venomous, though given appearances and levels of venom, I would guess the Meadow Viper! I don’t believe any texts actually specify beyond “snake” unfortunately.
