I don't remember if I've told Tumblr this but I don't care if I have and you won't care either so my husband thought I was a gooner artist with the misfortune of being bad at drawing hands because every time I showed him my drawings I was happy with, the figure in my drawing had massive hands and he was mostly naked. He did not catch that it was the same guy 1000 times and this guy was Dagoth Ur. So, like, my husband was kind of right in a way but also I am innocent of all charges because I'm not the one who gave Dagoth Ur those slappers and an allergy to clothing.

That explains why Elam always seems physically unable to leave his chair (of course his bedroom would be the nearest to the kitchen. of course.)

Dragonborn gets a spectral assassin but it's Elam Drals. There will definitely be just as many disturbing murder stories but there will also be a lot of food stories. Sometimes both in one. Also he'll compare Astrid to Astara and find her lacking. Poor Dragonborn has to put up with a sassy Dunmer who keeps complaining that he can't eat food anylonger. He keeps bothering the Dragonborn to make better food choices. And also keeps remaking on good body disposal spots whenever they walk past one.

Also aparently there are no vossa-satls in the Void, he's not impressed.

While I was checking our messages today I noticed a private message from a former ZOS employee, reaching out to us to thank us for everything we do, and to say they used our site everyday.

On the same day they were laid off they took the time to reach out to us, because they truly cared about The Elder Scrolls. I personally know the same is true for many other names on that list. These weren't empty suits forwarding emails from one layers of managers to the other.

Just look at their job titles, a lot of them were clearly involved very heavily with game projects.

the lotr movies got eowyn wrong. yes the fighting was cool. "i am no man" scene was badass. but the point of eowyn is not "woman wants to fight, isn't allowed to, eventually gets to fight and that's her happy ending."

the point of eowyn is "woman is depressed, wants to be free/respected/seen/known/loved, is put in a (metaphorical) box with the other women, wants to fight bc it will bring her either Respect or Death."

she kills the dang Witch King. she fights and wins and it's awesome and satisfying. but fighting is NOT her happy ending. it's her sad ending. she ends up wounded and broken, like everyone else in this stupid WWI-trauma story. Like Frodo. Like Faramir.

I cannot emphasize enough that Faramir meets her AFTER she is UNABLE to fight (the only thing she thought gave her value and honor) and STILL admires and respects and loves her. Eowyn is more than a fighter. Eowyn is more than what she does. And for someone like me who's disabled from doing a lot of things that society expects of me, that means a lot.

I love how the Elder Scrolls series had a race of hive-minded steampunk elves that were so aggressively anti-theistic that they built a synthetic god to act as an existential negative integer to all creation just to test the hypothesis that it could be cancelled out. But upon powering this synthetic god on, the inherent illogic and irrationality of apotheosis spread through the hive-mind like an atomic blast wave, and these elves who based their entire worldview in logic and rationality could no longer justify their own existence, and so they cancelled themselves out of the universal equation, in part proving their hypothesis in the process.

My favorite thing about this franchise is that this deep lore take coexist with "The Dwarves were smote for the hubristic folly of trying to build God" and "The Dwarves' superweapon backfired and killed them" within the text of the game and franchise. The competing perspectives on historical events and the biases and interpretation is just That Good Fantasy Bullshit

With the shut down of TES: Blades at the end of the month, I strongly encourage those who still play to help UESP out with their preservation project. Once the servers go offline, access to primary source information about Blades will depend on what's been preserved by the community. Lost media and loss of information and access to its source are serious problems. We don't always get a heads up, so it's important in this case to take the opportunity given to us.
