high school is soo funny in hindsight. the entire time you're there thinking it's the most important period of your life and then the second you're out you're like well that was fucking stupid
iâm in tears over this holy shit
Itâs a little known fact that in the 60s and 70s the CIA was actually run by fucking wile e coyote
In 1961, the CIA tried to kill Castro by redirecting a road he used regularly into a solid stone wall onto which theyâd painted a picture of a tunnel. This failed when Castroâs car proceeded straight on through the tunnel unhindered.
Some said they didn't know their thermostats were being accessed from afar until it was almost 80 degrees inside their homes.
Without anyone touching it, they said their thermostat was changed while they were sleeping, making their home unbearably hot.
âWas my daughter at the point of overheating?â English said. âSheâs 3 months old. They dehydrate very quickly.â
His wife received an alert on her phone soon after that. The family said their thermostat had been changed remotely, raising the temperature of their home during a three-hour âenergy saving event.â
The familyâs smart thermostat was installed a few years ago as part of a new home security package. Many smart thermostats can be enrolled in a program called âSmart Savers Texas.â Itâs operated by a company called EnergyHub.
The agreement states that in exchange for an entry into sweepstakes, electric customers allow them to control their thermostats during periods of high energy demand. EnergyHubâs list of its clients include TXU Energy, CenterPoint and ERCOT.
All k9 dogs are abused hands down if you post any pro k9 stuff on my dash youâre unfollowed I donât care if weâve been mutuals for years, you can claim to be anti-cop or a leftist or whatever but if you post k9 dogs with like âa good doggo! A good boy!â fuck off, if I lose followers over this then good riddance
Itâs ALSO worth saying that police dogs serve a significant role in worsening police brutality. A dog trained to attack a human will maim them. A cop looses a police dog on someone, and that person is expected to peacefully cooperate while a dog is trying to tear their limbs off. It is very easy for those massive wounds to get infected. It is an absurd amount of violence. And beyond the initial attack, the fact that a âpoor sweet innocent doggoâ did this is used to excuse that brutality in court. Especially if the victim, panicking in the moment, lashed out at the dog. As this website has demonstrated many times, majority-white juries have more sympathies for injured dogs than the people of color who are most often victims of police brutality. So theyâre not just systemic animal abuse, theyâre also a tool for increased police brutality and to excuse
Not to mention, training dogs for policing dates back to slavery and the KKK. If thereâs any more proof that police are just a branch of white supremacy heritage, itâs the use of police dogs. ACAB.
Okay so, I understand where this post is coming from and I think itâs important to talk about the problems with using dogs in police work, but I think it detracts from the conversation to say all police dogs are abused.Â
I went to a collage that had dog training courses and the three people who taught those courses were either retired canine officers or had worked to train police dogs since the 70â˛s. They talked about how to train those dogs extensively and there was even a dog aggression course that focused more on that aspect that I took.Â
There are dogs who are abused in the process of working or training to become attack dogs, but itâs not a process that has to be abusive. I went to one of the facilities that train these dogs and took three different bites from three different dogs. These dogs were never hit, in fact they were heavily praised, even the one that wasnât as enthusiastic as itâs peers.Â
The reason I think itâs important to move the conversation away from âpolice dogs are all abusedâ is that if stricter laws were put in place so only the positive, non-abusive methods were used most people would drop the issue, because all they care about is the animalâs safety and wellbeing, not the moral question of whether or not we should be using animals to maul people.
You donât have to feel bad for a lot of these dogs. They want to hurt you. They enjoy it. Dogs were bred from wolves and itâs not hard to breed high energy dogs that find attacking people rewarding. These dogs view the people they are sent to attack as fun chew toys. All three dogs that bit the training sleeve I wore were more then happy to do so. In fact even the retired cop mentioned that these dogs enjoy doing this so much that they have been known to go after the trainers who wear the bite suites even when they arenât wearing them and that we should be careful because these trained dogs can recognize by a persons body language that they have been one of these bite work targets. Â
The movement to remove bite trained canines from police departments shouldnât focus on the animal cruelty aspect because itâs an easy thing for the departments to fix, or show the public that it can be achieved without animal abuse. It should focus on the human cruelty that these dogs and their handlers inflict on others, particularly POC.Â
Less âpolice dogs=animal crueltyâ and more âpolice dogs=cruelty to human beingsâ. Â
nothing solidifies generational bond more than remembering discontinued candies that you canât even be sure were real
