so, when you leave me, i should die
oh brother
IT TOOK ME SO LONG BUT IT WAS IN MY TO DRAW LIST AND I AM SO GLAD IT IS DONE YAY !!!!
Listen. I really REALLY liked @supernini235 comment so I had to draw everything - at different levels of details and clealiness but hope you like it !! Thank you for making me draw bears I love bears....!!! (°ー°〃)
say what you like about him but i have a lot of respect for luo binghe’s courtship methods. like he tried the “look what you’re missing out on” approach okay, he gave it a fair go. “look how cool and hot and powerful i am” is a straight up classic and he had it nailed down, he had his evil sword and dramatic poses to strike, he was locked tf in. but then when that failed to work he pivoted like a champion, going from his sexy badass persona to full-on sad kitten out in the rain, and i don’t think he gets enough credit for that. he is a grownass demonic emperor with subjects and presumably a lot of enemies looking for weakness, and yet he has fully committed to the untried and extremely specific “warbling baby bird” approach to wooing shen qingqiu. he is wailing and clinging to the best of his exceptional ability, all dignity abandoned, to get his man. that’s dedication.
Imagine if Shen Yuan transmigrated as Gongyi Xiao's shizun instead.
Imagine him doting on Gongyi, at first because he feels bad for him, being destined to be overshadowed, replaced, and unceremoniously tossed offstage by binghe in the future
But then he does actually grow attached to him. Gongyi is so sincere, he admires his kind shizun and looks at him as if he hung the moon. He's a righteous and upstanding young man. And Shen Yuan adores him.
Now imagine the immortal alliance conference. Imagine the Binghe who was mistreated by the original Shen Qingqiu catching a glimpse of Gongyi Xiao and his doting teacher and he sees a life he was never meant to have.
Maybe he just sees them for a moment before the event, Shen Yuan giving his head disciple a little pep talk before hand. Letting Gongyi Xiao know that he's already proud of him, no matter how he preforms, but he knows Gongyi will excell regardless. (He doesn't want him to feel too discouraged when binghe outperforms him.)
Or Binghe happens to witness Shen Yuan rushing to Gongyi Xiao's aid once things have taken a turn for the worse. He sees Shen Yuan check Gongyi over for injuries, his brow creased in concern.
And when Binghe is pushed into the abyss by Shen Qingqiu that's what his mind goes back to. The huan hua disciple and his kind shizun. Why couldn't he have that? Why did he have to be treated the way he was? Why why why
And the thoughts persist through his time in the abyss.
When he breaks out of the abyss after 5 years those thoughts bring him right to the huan hua palace doors.

The problem with studying the deep ocean is that humans need light to look at things, the depths of the ocean are extremely dark, and what lives there is accustomed to spending most of its time in that darkness. So when we go down there with submersibles and turn on Big Lights to see, we invariably and dramatically alter what's going on, in the same way that it's generally difficult to observe the natural behaviors of terrestrial animals if you whip out a megaphone and shout HEY GUYS WHAT ARE YOU DOING at them first.
A humble snubnose eelpout on its way to the whale fall buffet when some nearby humans give it a quick, unintrusive study:
I put this in the comments but feel it needs a reblog- Check out some of Dr Edith Widder’s work on light in the deep sea! Among other things, she used the bioluminescence of stoplight fish to deduce wavelengths which most deep sea animals can’t perceive and used that to create light filters to be able to film with minimal disturbance! And that’s how we got 25 minutes of giant squid footage!!!!
"everyone is paying super close attention to everyone else all the time" actualy statistical error. hypervigilance georg, who enters fight or flight when someone starts breathing differently, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
#this one's for the people who hear 'people aren't paying that close attention to you! I mean do YOU pay that close of attention to them?'#and go: unfortunately yeah!!!!!!!#you are georg hope this helps. love u#hang in there one day u will be able to pay less attention all the time
It's nuts how common it is to not allow children to be angry, even (especially) in households where adults are angry all the time. As a child I knew my own anger was unacceptable--not just expressing it outwardly but feeling it at all. So now as an adult my immediate reaction to my own anger is often to feel guilt instead of like. Noticing when someone is being rude or unfair or my boundaries are being violated or whatever. fucked up.

Pre-Columbian Masks.
Luo Binghe and Shen Yuan met 3 years ago at an anime convention, where Luo Binghe had a temp security job. Shen Yuan entranced him immediately, and he was more than eager to let this man put him in cosplay and draw him. Their lives have been deeply entwined ever since, but they only started officially dating (according to Shen Yuan) a few months ago. Luo Binghe has met all of Shen Yuan’s immediate family members at least once, even forming an independent friendship with his sister. However, working with Shen Yuan’s mom, one on one, cooking together for their darling A-Yuan’s birthday, feels far more intimidating than any previous interaction. Both Shen Yuan’s parents were okay with their relationship. They are open minded, somewhat odd, but thoroughly kind people. Even so, Luo Binghe is terrified of messing up. Shen Yuan is the most important person in the world to him, and he cares deeply for his family. If his mother doesn’t like Luo Binghe, what hope does their relationship even have!?!
Liang Mingyue is a very sweet woman, and it reflects in her culinary skills. She bakes as a hobby, but having started an extremely successful medical tech company very young, she has had private chefs cooking for her for almost 3 decades. Her husband, Shen Lei, is even more hopeless, eating out exclusively when not on catered movie sets. While he isn’t currently filming anything, he has been set with the task of keeping Shen Yuan out of the house and entertained until festivities are ready. Two of the three remaining Shen siblings are in the living room, taping up decorations like fanatics, the fourth currently delayed on the road with his toddler pitching a fit. Liang Mingyue is making the cake while Luo Binghe handles everything else. He would have taken over cake duties too, but he didn’t want to be impolite. Liang Mingyue is a competent baker. He can let go of this one little thing.
“Xiao-he,” Liang Mingyue calls him that because he rather comedically dwarfs her in height, “do you think I should use a Russian piping tip for the flowers or no?”
Luo Binghe’s gut curls in on itself. He drops the garlic confit he was processing immediately. Russian piping tips are notoriously hard for beginners, and he’s never seen Liang Mingyue use one before. But, they do make truly beautiful flowers— he knows because he’s frosted many a cupcake for Shen Yuan with one. “I— that is if I could— has auntie used a Russian tip before?”
Liang Mingyue stares at him a minute before she breaks down into a cackle. “Oh, this is killing you, isn’t it?”
Luo Binghe wants to die. He wants to crawl into a hole and rot away. Was he being that obvious? Was he making her uncomfortable? Did she hate him now?
Liang Mingyue has to get on her toes to reach his head, smoothing his bangs back. “Oh don’t look so dire, I’m not mad. It’s actually been very entertaining for me to watch you try and share.”
“Auntie?”
Liang Mingyue stops petting his head, instead going to clasp his hand. “You have every day of the year to bake Yuan’er all the elaborate cakes you want. While it puts this old woman’s heart at ease to know her son is so well cared for, this is my day to bake for him. It will be okay.”
Then, without warning, she reaches up and pipes a dollop of frosting onto Luo Binghe’s nose. He stares at her, frozen as she laughs and playfully slaps his arm. “Go finish up the garlic bread already, we don’t have all day!”
The frosting does come out a little messy, but the cake itself is still delicious. Luo Binghe holds his tongue through dinner, and Liang Mingyue gives him a knowing wink across the table. On the ride back to their apartment, Luo Binghe confesses, “Yuan-ge, I think your mother is trying to kill me.”
