The thing that Baldur's Gate got right is that each companion is both extremely cool, tempered with an appropriate dose of cringe.

Gale is a powerful wizard. He uses the phrase 'pish posh' unironically.

Lae'zel is a badass. She asks you to fight her and then gets emotional because you're fighting even though that was her idea.

Karlach. Badass. But we've all seen her idle dance moves.

Wyll is this swashbuckling vigilante and he has a pose he does whenever he says his own superhero name.

Shadowheart. Dark backstory, still striving so hard for the light. Makes a joke about poisonous flowers that falls incredibly flat.

Astarion. Capable rogue and a dangerous vampire. He practises his one-liners ahead of time. Within earshot of the people he wants to use them on.

There’s a book out there called NurtureShock, and it’s about how a whole lot of our conventional knowledge about kids is wrong. And one of the chapters that sticks out in my mind is the one that examines the phenomenon of “tattling,” and the myth that kids who “tattle,” or come to an adult complaining of conflict with other kids, aren’t exercising self-reliance and should be encouraged to solve their own problems.

Only, when someone actually studied this, they found that kids attempt to resolve conflicts with other kids an average of something like fourteen times before they go to an adult for help.

My body has decided new wake up time is 2:30am

Every.Single.Fucking.Night

Then I’m not able to sleep until 4am or so. Which is WONDERFUL when I have to be up at 8am at the latest.

Then five hours or work.

Pause, five hours (and a half) of class.

Walk the dog.

My free time now is between 1:30pm and 4pm and 10pm to 12am, which is when I logically should go to sleep to have 8 hours, but of course I never do because I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t rest. Occasionally I have to go a couple days without sleep because my body will just refuse to do so outside of the hours it has determined as correct (which change constantly btw)

I would give anything so we could afford me not going to work.

This is just vent. I’m willing to put in all the effort I can physically can, but I don’t know how far that goes because I just can’t fucking sleep.

Expect to barely see me for a few months…

I agree with literally everything op is saying and I don't want to detract from their point but this website here, specifically for mobile games (though they intend to eventually branch out to other types) is creating a database that flags those exact types of predatory things. It also flags games as safe, so if you want to look for safe mobile games this is an invaluable resource.
