“I know that our political system has become a bit of a joke to the rest of the world but yes, it did feel good that my voice was heard”.
“I wouldn’t say a joke. It’s certainly better to have democracy over a dictatorship.”
ourardenoliver:
“Does that mean that Australia is secretly a chaotic mess too? Is that why you’ve fled to America?” Arden teased.
“I wouldn’t go as far as say that is why I fled but I think all governments have some level of corruption.”
lola--james:
“I know that she’s been to Melbourne on vacation before but she’s a Perth woman through and through”. Hadley had always been most at home on the sunny beaches that characterised her hometown. “It just sucks that it’s always about choosing the lesser evil. I want someone progressive, who genuinely believes in compassion, equality and human rights. I hate the fact that we’re always settling for less”.
“Sweet! Spent a little bit of time in Perth growing up, had some family there.” He acknowledged. “Unfortunately, usually those in politics would rather dash someone like that to a lesser party because they have integrity and can’t be bought.”
ryanmillermu:
“Thanks,” Ryan smiled. “Don’t get too discouraged. For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t even know where to even start with writing a song. I can barely remember lyrics to the ones on the radio. Actually, I’d argue I’m pretty good at making up lyrics when I don’t know them. Maybe I’m a secret genius songwriter,” she rambled. “You definitely came to the right place then. I’m always baking something,” Ryan told him, pouring them both a glass once Chase decided. “Not a problem,” she handed him his, taking a seat on the couch. “Have you spent much time with Arden? She’s amazing at song writing. She might be helpful.”
Chase smiled at her rambling and chuckled towards the end. “That sounds like the start of a great lyrist if you ask me. I’ll be coming to you for tips next.” He winked jokingly. “I’ll keep that in mind next time I have a sweet tooth too.” Chase thanked her after for handing him a drink. “I’ve not spent too much time with her yet actually but I’ll have to ask her about that next time I see her.”
olliexjames:
“I honestly don’t know if he could ever top his jacket and mittens at the inauguration.” Ollie laughed. “At least Biden has two dogs. Those pictures might just have to do.”
“It would be a hard task, that’s for sure.” Chase chuckled. “That’s a good point. And his grandkids have tik tok which is fun.”
noahfynn:
“Normally when I do an internet deep dive, it’s not about mittens but I’ll give it a shot”.
“Same but there’s a first time for everything, man.”
ivyjones:
“They were some pretty great mittens.”
“Agreed!” He chuckled. “Have we met already? I’m Chase.”
amberjade-rhodes:
“This was the first time that I voted, actually. I was too young during the last election”.
“That makes sense. It must be good to finally have a say even if it’s just one vote.”
ryanmillermu:
“I try to keep this part of the house presentable as much as possible since most people are coming in here. My room on the other hand? I keep that door shut for a reason,” she admitted. “Balls of paper? From….writing music…?” Ryan guessed. She of course knew Chase was musical but didn’t want to let on just how much she knew. “You came at a good time. I just put some cookies in the oven. They’ll be done shortly if you’re hungry,” she offered. “Lots of Diet Coke, Bryce has his collection of fruit juices, water, milk, a few other sodas…” Ryan opened the fridge. “There’s some beer, I think.” She listed off before looking back to Chase.
“You’ve definitely done better than I would have done.” He looked around his surroundings to then chuckle. “Bingo. I’ve been trying to write some new music but my muse seems to be a little low lately.” He sighed. “I would love some cookies.” Chase accepted the offer for when they were done. “I’ll take a diet coke, thanks Ryan.”
jacksonarchermu:
“Maybe we can wear them together and sweat our asses off.”
“I’d be up for that - though I don’t think it would do us much favours in picking up girls.”
ourardenoliver:
“I’ve seen some of the online coverage about the American election so I’m fully aware that a lot of countries are simultaneously laughing at us and horrified by what’s happening”.
“I think most countries are laughing and horrified but not realising what their own leaders are up to either.”
lola--james:
“Whereabouts in Australia are you from? One of my best friends lives there”, Lola explained. “He was the better option of the two but honestly, I still think that our country can do better”.
“Melbourne. I’d ask who your friend is like it’s a small place but I probably won’t know them.” He chuckled. “I think so too but I think that’s the same with most politics. Choosing the lesser evil hopefully.”
noahfynn:
“I really want to know where I can get a pair like that and I wasn’t even a fan of mittens before this damn election”.
“You might have to do an internet deep dive. I’m sure companies and lining up to profit on them.”
fckchxrlie:
“You’re probably right. Maybe it’s best they didn’t pick another meme guy. Else moving back home might start sounding like a better and better idea.”
“I might have to follow your lead on that if things go downhill here.”
adricnwais:
“Honestly I’m pretty sure no matter who we would’ve gotten as president, they would get turned into a meme anyway.” Adrian answered. “Like Trump was a meme for his entire term, if I’mma be frank.” he added.
“I think that’s a fair point. Anyone in the public eye can be turned in to a meme.”
lola--james:
“The simple explanation is that Biden won the majority of the contests when he and Bernie were competing to be the Democratic nominee. I’m guessing politics run a little differently in… Australia?” she asked, guessing at his accent.
“Aussie that’s right. I’ll just say that I’m happier knowing I’ve come with Biden in power rather than who it could have been.”
ourardenoliver:
“Our political system must seem really crazy to someone that’s not from America, huh?”
“A little and especially after the last four years. Technically longer I guess.”
