So before now, my page has just been random pictures, quotes, and nothings. But, I’ve been in my head a lot lately and feel like I need another outlet.
One of the things, I’ve been thinking about lately, is the project I’m working on with my writing partner and friend. This project means the world to me, because I have put so much of myself into it.
Not just my time and creative energy, but also myself. Me as a person, one of the characters is based on me. She is a dork, sort of shy at first and a weirdo when she gets comfortable, she would do anything for her friends, she battles with a darkness and hard past but she doesn’t let it steal her smile, she’s loving, funny, honest (too honest sometimes), and wears pyjamas all day every day if she can.
But the best part of the stories we are creating is that we are taking our real life experiences and putting them into the universe. We are making this universe where it’s safe to talk about anything and everything, safe to be yourself, safe to be vulnerable, and safe to explore who you are and might want to be.
We have this vision of creating something that everyone can connect to. We want to make something people will be able to tune into and let go of the real world and immerse themselves into this Other World where their everyday problems don’t exist. Where the characters feel like old friends. Where they can learn about their friends going through hard times and coming out of it a stronger person. Where it really does get better. Where they can let go, relax, and finally let that breath out they don’t even realize they are holding in. An metaphorical blanket fort for anyone and everyone to cuddle up and be safe in.
Over the next few months, I will be launching some things on various social media platforms related to this project. And I’m going to be honest, I’m nervous. I’m not someone that likes the spotlight, or to ever be singled out. I feel so uncomfortable when all eyes are on me and I’m worried I will freeze up, be super awkward, no one will watch the videos or live-streams, or worse that people WILL watch and hate every minute.
I know fear like this is a sign that you care a lot about what you’re protecting (the project) and that great things lie on the other side of this fear. But, dang, working up the courage to take the leap is taking a lot out of me these days.
I have far more going on in my head, but I think I’ve rambled on enough for one post. There will be much more to come.
