I don't even know why Rhaenyra stans and team black hate Alicent. She is the biggest contributor to her current victory so far. You'll never find anyone so loyal that she would murder her kids, grandkids, unborn kids and grandkids and wipe out her whole bloodline for you.

That's a very far fetched idea, so far he died at God's eye. But he left Rhaenyra nevertheless.

you know many people compared book cersei and book rhaenyra on top of that grrm compared daemon to a combination of tyrion and jaime ( and said he was black and white in equal measure) ( also saw people compare criston cole and jaime so you can say criston was a jaime who turned against cersei alot earlier )

There are certainly similar dynamics playing out and nods to Jaime and Cersei like naming her kid Joffrey, or the father of her children being a Strong. Also Jaime is ignoring Cersei's requests to return back to her, much like Rhaenyra is being completely ignored by Daemon by the end of it.

The characters themselves share traits, like arrogance, incompetence, entitlement, gluttony, naivety.

Though the power imbalance does not exist between Jaime and Cersei, and if it does it leans on Cersei's side, from which Jaime is freeing himself. But Rhaenyra never had that sort of influence on Daemon to begin with, in fact it was the opposite also due to the age difference, and Daemon pretty much did whatever he wanted and he simply didn't want Rhaenyra anymore, which caused her to spiral to further madness.

Is it really surprising that every single newest addition to the Hightowers' camp is portrayed as an abusive lunatic? If they weren't it wouldn't give team black camp the noble cause of supporting saint Rhaenyra.

It's quite funny how disingenuous and stupidly entitled some (if not most of them) Rhaenyra stans are feeling about Corlys' supposed betrayal and are discussing it purposely derailing to the very medieval issue of whose "cheating" was morally superior, lmao. If dude didn't cheat he would have no surviving male line to begin with, lol.

They seriously thought Corlys was gifting Driftmark and the Velaryon inheritance to Rhaenyra's not so Velaryon children because he thought those kids were cute or something like that. Let's not address how both Jace and Luke were engaged to his granddaughters which would at least ensure the Velaryon line continues through Laena's descendants if not Laenor's, and also be part of the Targaryen ruling line.

Now that both Jace and Luke are dead why is everyone acting surprised or even indignant that he wants to legitimise his illegitimate sons?

He has no surviving descendant, his granddaughter considers herself too much of a Targaryen when everyone is barely remembering her deadbeat dad is Daemon. Rhaenyra not offering immediately Joffrey as a replacement for Baela is quite short sighted while expecting Corlys to give him Driftmark while he has two surviving sons of his own.

He has been investing his own fleets, sons and resources to support Rhaenyra's claim, his wife died in battle believing she and Daemon are behind his son's death. Rhaenyra doesn't legitimise his sons because she wants her cake and to eat it too. But then he is the bad guy for reminding her he is the reason she could get away for a lot of her frauds because of his part in it. Her son died for HER cause, the Velaryon fleet is being employed for HER cause, Corlys' sons are being employed for HER cause.

At least the show is being involuntarily consistent with Rhaenyra's trait of having zero political acumen and believing she can dismiss allies like that and expecting their unwavering loyalty because she is entitled to it.

Condom and Mess would lose their minds to the idea that even characters perceived as villains can have nuance and depth. The Lannisters were almost marketed as cartoon villains but in the show they would be provided with great depth and a focus on their complicated dynamics (especially Tyrion and Cersei who in theory had all the cards to be just played off in a one note way).

It was even more logical to do this to characters like Cole, Alicent, Otto and Aegon, who aren't even designated villains like the Lannisters were perceived due to their antagonistic position towards the Starks. D&D barely failed at adapting while subtly showcasing a character's history with a limited screen time.

In all of his appearances the authoritarian position Tywin has held as the head of his house or as the hand of the king during Aerys' reign becomes almost unquestionable. The fact that he is competent and possesses the qualities to guide his grandkids until they become of age as well. The safety bubble his presence created for house Lannister for as long as he was still alive. The other characters may not love him but he is granted the respect a man in his position should have had.

Several characters in HOTD are not given this "seniority" in universe and it's part of the reason it falls flat as a narrative and plot.

Alicent has been queen for around 20 years at this point, Criston Cole is a respected knight and commander with even more years on his shoulders, Otto has served as hand of the king for decades during one of the most prosperous times for the Targaryen dynasty. Is this ever acknowledged in universe? No, even when the books explicitly state that Helaena was a beloved queen the show has her and her mother be thrown eggs and cabbage by the "starving" small folk (the irony) not long after her son was murdered.

Somehow only Rhaenyra is given this courtesy and there's nothing that justifies that, in fact, it should be the opposite as she hasn't really accomplished anything in her life on her own, at this point of time she has just lived in Dragonstone for years and never involved herself with any public matter for her to be so much revered by anyone in the story.

Gotta love how the masters of deflection hit again with their one trick pony and had Alicent be assaulted at random by a team green character (and even Mushroom is innocent here lol) just to give her free sympathy points after selling off her entire family and more "le green bad, she did the right thing" content for free, only to have said character be delivered justice by none other than Daemon "wife rock smasher and wife choker" Targaryen.
