@cherlsh
officially sent in my transfer request now i just have to manifest that it works out well
really need to lock in and finish this email but i like really don't want to
had to go to my head supervisor to request a transfer to a different director bc the toxic work environment + bullying really ramped up this past month. but while i was talking to her, i mentioned some things about the general work environment, and she was like genuinely shocked. because the performance of our team is really great, everything is handled internally, and we've all been strongly discouraged from having any interactions with her (told to report to our director if we have conversations with her on site), so no one has ever spoken to her about what the work culture is like under this director.
she asked me to write an email including everything i had told her, because no one under him has really said anything about the work culture in any official communication and it's like... i understand the request. there are a lot of truly concerning and awful things going on. four other people are filing complaints with her about my director's behavior over the last month, but they're all under different leadership. i'm the only one who's his direct employee, so i have a lot more information about his behavior and leadership.
but i'm like... i do believe that she wants to fix things. i know she has the authority to get me what i want, which is a transfer to a different director so i can avoid retaliation and further escalation of their behaviors. i don't have a desire to open the can of worms that is reporting how awful our work environment is under this director. i don't care about them facing consequences, because i don't actually believe that there will be any changes made. it's a nice thought, but it would be a huge task because he has produced really positive results for the company (even if his methods are unethical and abusive), so it seems unlikely that they would give him any consequences. especially because i think anyone else under him would be too afraid of retaliation to actually report or even corroborate anything i say. the only reason i was even willing to mention i disliked working under them is because i was begging for a transfer and had six people who could verify all of the mistreatment i had received over the past month.
it's so frustrating but like.. whatever, i guess. i'll do my part because i do feel like i have a moral and ethical responsibility to at least lay the groundwork for the other people on my team to get some help. i don't feel like i'm long for this job, so hopefully i'll be able to find something else soon and some good will come of this situation =_=

you need to be nicer to people who have never had a chance to learn to do what you want from them. you need to.
like, universally. everyone reading this really could be nicer to ppl with no life experience. do u know what it’s like to spend years living in some sort of fucked up rapunzel scenario?
