was chatting about rookie and i really do think that after sarah becomes the minuteman general and things settle down, rookie ends up suggesting that—since a lot of their recruits have brought their children along because they can't be left unattended—that rookie could make a Minuteman Little League team to encourage the kids to learn teamwork and cooperation, since minutemen need to know those things! and sarah's like, sure, fuck it, it'll keep the kids from climbing the walls.

so rookie makes a team and they all learn how to play and eventually they have enough for a game and when one side loses they're like 'hey this is a good way to learn how to improve in a low-stakes environment! sometimes things don't go your way but now you can figure out how to get better!' and this message internalises really well.

then the kids at diamond city chat to their friends in the minutemen and they're like well WE wanna play baseball too! so rookie's like okay i'll show you guys how to play and so diamond city gets a little league! by then it's clear some settlements also want to get their kids involved so rookie has accidentally-on-purpose started a commonwealth-wide little league.

of course rookie is like 'well we need umpires for the games since i can't be everywhere at once' and so some adults sign up for ump lessons. only rookie runs that shit like the fucking navy. they make a fucking manual and their drills are exacting as fuck. if you don't call that strike in the right tone of voice rookie is going to Get You. on the upside sarah can shortlist everyone who succeeds for leadership positions in the minutemen so like. she isn't stopping rookie. not that she can. nobody can.
